"Cool." Darrel replied.

"See you later." he told her, before heading into the house.

Kitt watched him go, before looking at Sammy again.

She made some grunting noises, before looking around some more. She saw a place where the sun's rays appeared to be the strongest, and made her way over towards it.

She then laid down, and closed her eyes.

Darrel nodded.

"Okay." he said.

He then paused, and looked at his stomach for a second.

"......hm." he mumbled.

But before Sammy could mention anything about it, Kitt approached her and started to rub up against her legs, making little happy noises and licking her palms.

"Heh." Darrel chuckled.

"SOMEONE'S happy to see you." he commented.

When she splashed him, he lost his balance for a moment, and faltered in the water, floundering around for a second, before looking at Samantha.

".....oh-ho." he said.

"A comedian, huh?" he asked with a smirk.

"Well, let's see how well you handle THIS!" he finished, before returning the splash.

-A few days later-

Darrel smiled as he and Sammy stepped out of the woods, having gone for a longer morning run than she normally would have taken. Not that it was needed or anything, they just had the time. Darrel looked over at the sun, which was now much higher in the sky, the glowing orb having just started to peek over the horizon when he'd first woken up.

"Love stat holidays." he smirked.

"Thankfully, I actually had something to DO this early." he told her.

"Anyway, I suppose we ought to shower off." he added with a chuckle, as the large black panther known as Kitt started to approach them leisurely.

"....not to mention that Doctor uncle is ALSO a Lantha." Darrel chimed in.

"You know... a water creature." he said.

"So... I guess that makes sense." he went on.

"Oh well." he then said.

"Guess I should work on it." he finished, before just floating.

Darrel just sighed again.

"Mm." he mumbled.

"Guess I need to work out more." he said.

"...a LOT more..." he muttered further.

"I've never really had anyone to measure physical success against." he told her.

"So this has been a wake-up call."

Darrel almost couldn't believe what he was seeing.

By the time he'd gotten halfway back, she had already finished, and was waiting for him.

He just sighed internally, and finished his way there.

"......right." he said.

"Well. THAT was a thrashing." he commented.

"Ready." Darrel replied.

"All right... on 3." he told her.

"One... two..." he listed off, as they got into position.

"....THREE!" he yelled.

With that, he pushed off the edge of the pool, and started to swim to the other end.

Darrel raised an eyebrow when she said that.

"A race?" he asked.

"Heh, sure." he said.

They then swam to the edge of the pool, and readied themselves.

"How we doing this?" he asked her.

"Just to the other end, or there and back here, or what?" he asked further.

"Oh, and is this freestyle, or are there any limitations on style?"

"Swimming is something that is amazing exercise." Darrel responded.

"And I actually make the effort to... swim." he told her.

"I try to have at least an hour of swimming, from one end of the pool to the other." he went on.

"It is quite exhilarating." he continued.

"And a swim-buddy would be wonderful to have." he added with a small smile.

"I try to swim at least once a day." Darrel responded.

"My building has a really nice pool in the gym, so I try to use it daily." he told her.

"...gets harder in warmer weather." he then admitted.

"EVERYONE and their kids decide it's time to use it then." he sighed.

"There ends up being no room to... y'know... ACTUALLY swim."

"You got a B, huh?" Darrel asked.

"Well... not the best, but not bad." he said.

"At least you found more than a sliver of info." he went on.

"Otherwise that probably would have been a nightmare to write."

"....." Darrel was silent as he heard all that.

"Must be the cat in him." he said.

"They tend to have a knack for being underfoot." he commented.

"...well, maybe." he then muttered.

"Is your Mom like that sometimes?" he asked.

"That would be very much appreciated." Darrel replied.

He then paused and looked over towards Evan and Casey.

"So... he gonna be okay?" he asked.

"He looks like something really upset him." he commented.

"What happened, exactly?"

Darrel looked at Sammy, and nodded.

"Please." he said.

"My endurance sucks." he told her.

"I need to be able to go for longer distances." he went on.

"That would seriously help my escape attempts."
