Hal nodded in response.

"Fair points." he said.

He then pulled out a card key, and handed it to her.

"Here you go." he told her.

"Ty will be able to show you to your room as well." he went on.

"And... anywhere else you may need to go."

Hal just smiled.

"You are free to stay here if you like." he told her. "We have plenty of empty dorms." he assured her.

"If you'd prefer to stay with one of your daughters, we can arrange for transport there for you, but you are more than welcome to claim a place here." he offered her.

"Just let me know which you think would be best." he finished.

He then paused for a moment and started to dig for a card key, should she choose to stay at the Unit.

"...." Hal was silent again, and sighed.

"I can try." he said, snapping his fingers.

And nothing happened. None of them even flinched.

"...this is the best option, sadly." he lamented.

"And we have several rooms for things like that." he told her.

"I can get one of my agents to escort you to one." he offered. "Agent King brought you here, he could take you to one of the rooms." he reasoned.

"...." again, Hal was silent for a moment.

"Well... I..." he stammered.

"I can't... fault that." he said.

"But this plan seems... risky. To massively understate it." he went on.

"I really wish I had a better idea." he then said, sounding angry at himself.

"But I can't think of anything ELSE to do for this situation."

Hal has a healthy fear of Madison right now, but he knew he had to say something. He couldn't just let her go on like this.

"I agree she needs to be stopped." he said.

"But finding her is much easier said than done." he told her.

"I agree, necromancy may just be the solution to this problem, but can you do it on your own?" he asked. "And can you even FIND her?" he asked further.

"We've tried all we can, but her location seems to be perfectly concealed. We don't know where to start." he lamented.

"Do you have ANY plans for your solution?"

Hal watched as the orb of mana hit the wall and created the necromatic rune for a few seconds, before it faded... and he was honestly stunned.

It hadn't been there for long at all, but while it was there, he could sense how powerful it was. He could feel it. If he had a soul... in the traditional sense, he had a feeling it would have been shivering from it. Not that her rune would have taken his soul, it wasn't the Fyrane rune, but necromatic mana always had a penchant for reverberating in people's souls.

"..." he was silent, before looking back at her.

"Of course." he growled.

"I should know by now." he said. "Whenever something happens, if it's bad, and if it messes with the natural order, there's an 80-90% chance it's Encrae." he grumbled further.

"But WHY mess with the reapers? That makes NO sense, even for HER."

"...of course." he responded.

He then brought his hand forward and snapped his fingers.

As soon as he did so, however, Madison's mind was racing. Or it would have been, had it not felt like she'd hit a massive mental wall.

She got nothing. Nothing comprehensive, anyway.

However, there was one thing she managed to see through all the 'static'.

Long dark elf ears, and swirling red mana.

He looked at her when she said this, before sighing.

"Well... there IS one avenue we can use." he told her.

"You are, or were, a reaper." he said. "Odds are you or your fellow reapers have seen my life force and talked about it." he went on.

"Odds are you know what I am." he reasoned.

"If you like, you can try and make use of that." he said further.

"Might be your best chance to get some definitive answers."

"Tsk tsk tsk." Sharp tutted, shaking his head.

"Always a shame to hear about that." he said further, before pausing.

"...hm." he then mumbled.

"That scenario presents some new and possibly more concerning questions." he said quietly.

"However, we really don't have much info to go on." he then went on.

"I suppose I ought to contact Hollie Remmington and tell her about this." he added.

"...that is, indeed, concerning, to understate it." Sharp responded.

"Is it just you?" he asked. "Or others?" he asked further.

"Or do you have no real way of knowing that?" he then asked, as he went to his computer and started to type up the start of a case for this.

As he did so, he sighed quietly.

"A reaper being alive again..." he mumbled.

"This is messing with the natural order."

Once she was told to take a seat, Ty excused himself and said he'd be back, before leaving.

"Madison Kiczys?" the receptionist asked.

"Yes." Madison replied.

She nodded in response, and they both waited until her comm buzzed.

"Is Madison Kiczys here?" Sharp asked.

"She is." the woman responded.

"Send her in." Sharp replied.

Madison saw the 'go ahead' gesture, so she got up and made her way into the office.

"All right, I get the feeling this is serious. Very much so." Sharp said out of the gate.

She could see Ty was concerned by her question, but he nodded.

"Yeah." he said. "Sure." he told her.

"I'll have that info for you when I get back to Sharp's office." he said further.

"...a death that should have happened... but didn't..." he then repeated quietly.

"That sounds ominous, I won't like." he said.

"And I get the feeling I'm understating that massively."

Ryker just looked at him and sighed quietly.

"It's not dumb." he said.

"Mortality is just a heavy and scary subject, and it's understandable to get caught up in it. Sometimes people get too focused on it." he told Eke further.

"Especially when they have circumstances like yours." he went on.

"Just remember that you have people that love the fact you're in their lives." he then said. "Live every day to the fullest." he continued.

"It's kinda like a sausage. Not about how long it is, but how much you pack into it." he added with a laugh.

"But I'm no philosopher."

Ty nodded in response.

"Certainly doable." he told her. "I'll get that for you right away." he said.

He then paused when she asked her second question, thinking about it.

"....hm." he muttered. "A... while, actually." he said. "Or... well, for ME, anyway." he clarified.

"A week ago? I think?" he answered her.

"If that? Something like that." he said.

"I tend to lose count, and time has lost a bit of meaning for me, somewhat." he admitted at the end.
