Hal just rolled his eyes.

"Apology accepted." he said.

"Anyway, come and see me when you're allowed to be up and about." he told her, standing up.

"We'll have some things to discuss." he continued.

"...also, thank you." he then said.

"I'm sorry you got hurt the way you did while on this mission." he apologised.

Hal thought for a moment when she said that.

"Yes... yes, indeed." he said.

"Izea." he then addressed her.

"When you're clear to leave the medical wing... come see me." he told her.

"I want to discuss something with you." he went on.

"It's nothing pressing, or concerning, or anything ominous... but... I think I'm getting an idea as to how you can finally pay me back, as you've been continuously saying." he told her.

"...beyond... going through THIS mission and experience, that is." he clarified.

"Speculation, sadly." Hal replied.

"As I said, I only know of a dozen, and... well... let's just say I've been around." he told her.

"...for a VERY long time." he muttered.

"However, it's also been my experience that this is nothing bad." he then assured her.

"I mean... it literally saved your life." he said.

"And I'm willing to bet that, under that bandage... is a crystal orb where your eye once was."

"To answer your first question, you should." he said.

"As for the second one... probably not." he told her.

He then proceeded to tell her what he had told Angela, going into a little more detail, and making sure she understood what he was saying. It took a bit, about 30-40 minutes, and then he sighed.

"So... yeah, I've only seen about a dozen 'Manafests' in my life." he reiterated.

"You can come back from terminal injuries." he told her.

"Like what happened to your heart."

"...very well." Hal replied.

"I'll get that started." he told her.

He then sighed, and shook his head.

"Also... Izea... we need to talk." he said.

"About... well... how unique you really are." he continued.

"And about why your ears healed the way they did."

"Yes." he replied.

"...well.... first thing." he then muttered with a sigh.

He proceeded to tell her what had happened with Valentino, what he had done, the proceedings, his confessions... basically, he filled her in on what she had missed while she was unconscious.

"So, now a question." he said.

"Do YOU wish to press charges?" he asked.

"He DID attack you, blinded you in one eye, and nearly killed you." he said further.

Nate watched as she did so, and then drank some of the water.

"I'll wait here." he said.

"As I said, it should take about a couple of minutes before you feel something." he told her.

"It's pretty fast-acting." he chuckled.

"But just try and relax, and recuperate." he then suggested.

"You've been through a lot, to understate it."

"Ah, yes." Nate responded.

"I got something for that." he told her.

"Should help, anyway." he went on, digging in his pocket and producing a bottle of tablets. He handed one to her, and sighed.

"Let that dissolve in your mouth." he continued.

"Once that's done, wash it down with this." he went on, handing her a bottle of water.

"Should take the edge of, at the very least, and it should be within a couple of minutes."

Nate nodded.

"I'll call them in to discuss it with you." he told her.

"But first... I'll call Agent Sharp to come down and have a chat with you." he then said.

"You feel up for that?" he asked.

"Or do you need some time to recuperate?" he asked further.

Nate shook his head.

"It isn't." he said.

"It'll never work again." he told her.

"But... I talked to Lunet and Leo, and they said they might be able to give you a cybernetic implant to replace it." he then said.

"Assuming you want that." he continued.

"I can have them stop by and discuss it with you." he then offered.

Nate sighed.

"A lot." he said.

"It seems he hit you." he told her.

"And his mana fried your eye... and your heart." he continued.

"Now, I know that second part raises a LOT of questions." he quickly said further.

"But Agent Sharp can answer them when he's called down here to speak with you."

The first thing she noticed was that half of her vision was dark. And when she brought her arm up and draped it over her face, she felt the bandages against her skin... which were also wrapped around her head.

It explained a lot.

However, everything around her was quiet... except for the usual buzzing she constantly heard.

After about 10 minutes of this, the door opened and Nate stepped in.

"Oh!" he said.

"You're awake." he commented.

"How are you feeling?" he asked her.

He shook his head.

"Nothing." he replied.

"Go on and get out of here." he told her.

"And thanks again." he repeated.

"Still. Izea really IS a wonder of this word..." he then mumbled.

"Who would have thought that a goblin would have such potent mana in her..."

Hal just rolled his eyes slightly.

"You know what I mean." he said.

"If you want, feel free to come into work tomorrow 4 or 5 hours late. Consider it a half-day." he told her.

"You've earned it." he continued.

"And... yes, it IS late..." he admitted.

"Seems this entire situation took far longer than any of us realised." he commented further.
