Nate was silent again, before laughing.

"Okay, okay." he said.

"That's fair enough." he told her.

"Man, you really know how to wheel and deal." he commented.

"...I'm glad you decided to help me." he then said.

"Odds are if you hadn't... I'd be run even more ragged, and... honestly, I dunno how long I'd last." he admitted.

"I hated being in that situation." he sighed.

Nate froze when he heard that.

"M-m-me?" he asked.

"You want ME to help with the story and such?" he asked her.

"Wouldn't have asked if I didn't." Lunet replied.

"I'd... I'd be honoured." Nate responded.

"That would be... well, it'd be a dream come true." he told her.

"While my future is in the medical profession... well, at least I hope it to be... it'd be awesome to have helped on a successful video game."

"Then this is the opportune time to make an epic comeback!" Nate declared.

"Seriously. Build yourself a name... again...? Or... well... hm." he mumbled.

"Really cement yourself in the game dev world." he said.

"AoD was amazing. It was a runaway commercial success, and the only critical negativity it received was from... well, from what I recall, individuals that nobody really respected, anyway." he said further.

"Contrarian because contrarian. Sparked controversy and got those online hits." he muttered.

"Shock schlock, I call it." he added.

She didn't see it, but his eyes beamed.

"R-really?" he asked.

"Well... yeah, I do." he said.

"It's the one that's a portable, but you can take it with you on the go." he told her.

"Was the cheapest of the three, and it's... well... portable." he reasoned.

"But I'd LOVE to have early access."

"That's... fair, I suppose." Nate admitted.

"Still, wow!" he said.

"That is truly amazing." he told her.

"Seriously. You really ARE a wonder." he continued.

"...and AoD was done BEFORE the surgery?" he asked.

She nodded.

"That just makes the game even BETTER." he said in response.

"...woah, woah, what?" Nate stammered.

"Hold on, hold on." he said.

"A special camera?" he asked.

"And there's... tech IN your head?" he asked further.

"...are you saying you can actually SEE when whatever you need is connected?" he asked her.

"You've... effectively gained sight???"

"I..." Nate stammered.

"Maybe it's best if you fill me in." he said.

"It's always better to get info straight from the source." he reasoned.

"..ah, we're here." he then commented.

"Time flies when you're chatting." he chuckled.

"Whatcha think you want to drink?" he asked.

Nate sighed.

"Yeah." he said.

"I don't have artistic talent, and only the most basic of pixeling skills. It was all I could do to alter a lot of the character models to be sort of what I envisioned them to be. But about 95% of that game was stock assets." he admitted.

"So yeah, the game was slammed for a lack of effort on that." he confirmed.

"But I DID see a lot of good words for the story and dialogue and such." he then went on. "And those came from the people that slammed the visual parts of it. So it was pretty much a unanimous thing." he sighed.

"I don't really care, though. I did it during... well, a time when I had spare time, and put it out onto the internet for free." he then shrugged.

"If you're REALLY curious about it, I have a thumbdrive with... the... file..." he then started to say further, before something seemed to click.

"Wait... hold on." he said. "There's no audio dialogue in the game, so it wouldn't do you much good." he realised.

"And... how could you have read reviews on it? You've told me you were born completely bind."

"Ah. I see." he replied.

"...must cost a lot then, seeing as you have the funds to support yourself through Uni, AND support me as well." he commented with a very light chuckle, before clearing his throat slightly.

"Ah-heh... yeah. I did." he confirmed.

"And... it... it wasn't anything special." he told her.

"It was a game where the main character was a fallen angel that lost their memory, and the entire storyline was about them regaining their memory, gaining back their abilities and such as they unlocked various memories, and finding out how to atone for whatever it was they did, once they remember, and rise up again." he explained. "Had 3 different endings, too. Good, bad, and neutral." he went on.

"Called it 'Ascent: Picking up the Pieces', if I recall."

"Ah, that sucks." Nate replied.

"Well... maybe get someone to help?" he offered.

"And have a real contract drawn up and such?" he continued.

"I mean, it's all up to you, obviously, but... well... okay, I know jack all about game development." he then admitted.

"The closest I've come to making a game is one I did in that RPG game-maker program." he chuckled.

"I tossed it onto forums for free."

"That's good." Nate responded.

"If it makes a difference or not, I overheard some people I know that really loving gaming, and they were talking about that series about a week ago." he then said. "Now, they essentially run one of those websites that reveals early info about games, leaks, rumours, that sort of thing." he informed her.

"And it looks like the 6th game may be their last." he told her.

"If the rumours are true, the game will have some rather hefty and egregious in-game purchases." he went on. "And if their info is right about them, then it means 2 things." he continued.

"1, that they're running out of money and need to try to get their players to pay even MORE, past the initial purchase. And 2, those that are clinging to it may finally just abandon it, or enough that they'll have the declare bankruptcy." he added.

"So it seems like this may be their final hurrah... going out with a pathetic whimper."

"...." Nate was silent for a moment.

"That... explains a lot." he said.

"Ever since the second one, it's... actually been downhill." he mumbled.

"From what I can tell, the game will be lucky to recovery from the disaster of the 5th game, and they've surviving entirely on the nostalgia and goodwill from the first game. And the second game, to a lesser extent." he admitted.

"...that is rather bullcrap, though." he then told her.

"To have your idea, your brainchild, just... taken away like that..."

He froze when he heard that.

"A.. Age... of Divinity?" he asked.

"THE Age of Divinity?" he asked her.

"That was YOU?" he asked further.

"Holy... holy hell." he said.

"That game is... it's one of the better games out there. Hell, one of the BEST." he gushed.

"That was you??? Holy crap, I'm in the presence of genius!" he then declared.

"That makes sense." he said.

He then paused for a moment.

"Wait." he muttered.

"MORE games?" he asked.

"I didn't know you've published any games." he went on.

"Anything notable?" he asked.

"Or just obscure indie titles for now?"
