Cain just rolled his eyes.

"Yuh-huh." he said.

He then made his way to the den, and stood at the doorway.

"Yo!" he called out.

Nate looked over, and seemed to be genuinely shocked for a moment, and silent, before shaking his head.

"Oh! Hey." he replied.

Cain raised an eyebrow.

"I'm Cain. You're Nate?" he asked.

"Yeah, that's me." Nate responded.

"What timing." Nate said with a light laugh.

"Just as we finished." he went on. "Well... I finished, anyway." he muttered. "Not sure about Lunet..." he mumbled further.

"Yo." Cain replied with smile, stepping inside with grocery bags in his hands.

"Got the stuff." he told her.

"And I'm ready to grill!" he declared.

"So. Where's this guy you're leaving me for, hmmm???" he then asked her.

"Uhhh... right then." Nate replied.

He seemed... like the answer was satisfactory, but she could hear the skepticism and confusion in his tone.

"Anyway!" he then said.

"We should get to work." he told her.

"If we really buckle down and put the study pedal to the metal, we have a good chance of finishing it all before your Cain gets here." he reasoned.

"Which, let's face it, would be optimal." he continued.

"Means we'll be able to do whatever with the rest of the evening." he chuckled.

"Ah, yes." he responded.

"Er... on that note, though..." he then said.

"About Cain..." he went on, trailing off a bit.

"Earlier, you mentioned something about an... experimentation with his mother, or something?" he asked.

"What do you mean by that?" he asked.

"He a scientist or a chemist or something?" he asked further.

"I don't think you've ever rightly told me what it is he does."

"....oh?" Nate asked.

"I see." he said.

"Well, regardless, it's truly a biological AND technological wonder." he told her.

"I would have never thought such a thing would be possible." he admitted, before chuckling.

"Guess this world really DOES hide secrets all around."

"....?" Nate was silent, and obviously confused, but shrugged.

"All right." he said.

He then made his way towards her, and sat down.

Once he did, she gestured to the laptop.

He looked at it, and couldn't help but be amazed.

"Holy crap." he said.

"This... this is truly amazing!" he exclaimed.

"...I... I see." Nate replied.

"..." he was then silent again, before looking at the visor.

"...fascinating..." he mumbled.

"Um... hm..." he then muttered.

"So... how well can you see?" he asked.

"Like, you don't need the cane with this, I assume?" he asked.

"And... well... I don't know how to ask this. You said you were born blind, so you can't compare it to natural sight." he went on.

"I guess if it works, then that's good enough."

"Ah-" Nate started to say... before he saw the clear glass (plastic?) flash with light.

"Woah!" he exclaimed.

"That just... came to life, there." he commented.

"....." he was then silent as he regarded it.

"Uh..." he stammered.

"Wait... wait, is that... what... uh... plugs into your head?" he asked, unsure as to how to properly word it.

Nate just chuckled at her 'befriending a medic' comment.

"Fair."{/b] he said.

[b]"And... hmmm... den, I suppose." he then said further.

"If we're going to do work, might as well be comfortable, I suppose." he reasoned.

"Unless you feel we'll get more work done in the dining room." he then said.

"Either works for me."

Nate was stunned for a moment. He figured she wasn't from around here, giving the subtle accent she had, but he would have never guessed that she had been KIDNAPPED in her past.

"....geez..." he mumbled under his breath, before snapping himself back to reality when she asked her question.

"Right!" he said.

"Yeah, I'll head downstairs, too!" he told her.

He made a mental note of where the bathroom was, and sighed quietly, following her.

"I guess it's true what I've heard." he commented.

"The helper seeks to help... because they know what it is to be helpless."

Nate just nodded, mostly for himself.

"Got it." he said.

"This is the bathroom, always knock." he repeated.

"If there's no answer, go on in." he said further.

"I can remember that." he assured her.

"Still... this IS a nice place." he repeated.

"I don't mean to repeat myself, but... you are a really lucky person, Lunet." he told her. "Yes, things were... well, bad... for you at the start, but... you'd never think it to see this place, and all you can do and such."

He did follow, looking around as he did so, and marveled at all that was there.

"Huh." he then mumbled.

"If I were to wager a guess, things don't get rearranged often." he commented.

"Seems like you know this place like the back of your hand... which makes sense... but I'd wager that things stay the same here?" he asked.

"Just so you don't have to relearn the geography here?" he asked further.

He was still amazed that she did this so well. It was like she wasn't even blind at all.

"Well, then. Onwards!" Nate declared, as they started to walk.

-Later that day-

School had ended, and Lunet had suggested that Nate follow her home. He couldn't deny that that made sense... they could both do their work, and he'd be right there when the food was ready.

They arrived at her home, and when she unlocked the door, and they both stepped inside, his whistled lightly.

"...wow." he said.

"This is a really nice place." he told her.

"Really spacious and stuff." he went on, before chuckling.

"Then again, anything larger than a dorm room looks spacious to me." he joked.

Nate just sighed heavily.

"People... suck, sometimes." he said.

"That's all I can really say." he mumbled.

"And as for lunch..." he then went on, trailing off a bit and thinking about it. "Hmmmmm...." he murmured.

"Well, what about pizza, then?" he asked.

"There's that place up the street that's amazing and cranking out fresh pizzas for students for lunch." he suggested.

"That work for you?"
