Tannyll nodded in response.

"I will." he said.

"I promise." he told her, before excusing himself. He needed to leave and get some work done.

-A couple weeks later-

She had managed to sneak out once more, and stepped into the security are of the Unit, where she saw Jake at the desk.

"Welcome back." he said.

"Here to fill the boss in once more?" he asked, darting his tongue out, and pausing.

"Yeah, it's you." he confirmed.

"You doin' all right?" he asked.

"Oh... Oh, I see..." Tannyll replied.

"Wait, she... disappeared?" he asked.

"Oh dear." he mumbled.

"I always thought the maids just... left." he admitted. "Or something like that." he went on.

"Now I'm wondering what REALLY happened..." he said further.

"Maybe I should start paying more attention to the things and people around me..."

Tannyll looked to be suspicious for a moment, before just sighed.

"..fair enough." he said.

"Maybe you'll fare better than all the previous maids." he mumbled.

"I remember there was one he REALLY liked." he then said further.

"She had really light blonde hair, and green eyes, and... well... of all the maids I've seen here, she was more... well... how do I put this...?" he wondered, thinking about it.

"Although she was physically beautiful, much like the others, she was... 'cuter'... I guess."

Ryker chuckled a little.

"Good!" he said, as they headed down the road.

"Looks like we're well on our way, too." he told him, looking at the sky.

"Seems like there might be a rainstorm a-brewin' as well." he then commented.

"Thankfully we'll have a nice dry place to sleep."

Tannyll's eyes widened.

"Woooah." he said.

"You're... you're..." he stammered.

"A demon. An actual demon." he finally vocalised.

"But... but why are you HERE?" he asked her.

"Why did you accept the job as the Master's personal maid?"

Tannyll was silent for a moment, a LOT of things running through his mind... before he sighed.

"...yeah." he said.

"Yeah, I could tell immediately that you were different from the others." he admitted.

"I just... didn't know how to say it, or bring it up." he told her. "Or even if I should in the first place." he went on.

"And you're right. I'm not human." he confirmed.

He then slowly moved his hair away from his ear, and she saw the distinct point in the lobe that indicated he was an elf... but there was more to it. She could also see that the upper part of the lobe near the tip... was a different colour.

It was at least two or three shades darker than the rest of his skin tone.

"I'm an elf." he confirmed.

Tannyll nodded in response... before suddenly stopping.

"I..." he stammered.

"Hold up." he said.

"Those like us?" he asked her.

"What... do you mean by that?" he asked further.

He had a bit of a defensive look to him, but it was mostly curiosity.

Ryker couldn't help but smirk.

"Heh." he chuckled.

"Having some issues?" he asked.

"Need a hand?" he asked further.

"Literally, in this case?"

Tannyll looked at her.

"That's... really sad." he said.

"Everyone should have someone that truly cares about them." he told her.

"...not everyone does, though." he then mumbled, sounding like he knew what he was talking about.

"Sorry." he then apologised.

"I didn't mean to bring the atmosphere down..."

Tannyll was silent, before sighing again.

"...pretty women." he said.

"Curvy women." he went on.

"Not too big up top or bottom." he continued.

"...also, ones that don't seem to have any family..." he then mumbled.

"Sure, they have friends, but... just don't seem to have any family for... whatever reason."

Tannyll just smiled a little.

"Thanks." he said.

"...." he was then silent, and looked over the railing.

"...such beautiful nature." he commented.

"Almost like it were wild." he went on.

"It's soothing, in a way..."

Tannyll shook his head.

"The Master's had several personal maids in the past." he told her.

"They always stay for a year, and then they're gone." he went on.

"I've heard they just... well... leave, but... I don't know." he mumbled.

"It's all just... weird." he sighed.

"I don't know what to make of it, other than he creeps me out, the people here are weird, and this place is just... unnerving." he lamented.

Tannyll just looked off to the side.

"Just..." he mumbled.

"I don't think I'm the kind of person that Master wants." he said.

"I remember the last personal maid that was here. She suddenly left." he went on.

"I asked where she was, and people either told me to shut up, or... they said they didn't remember her." he continued.

"...it's just weird."

"....." Tannyll was silent, before sighing.

"I dunno, just... the people here..." he said.

"They're either snappish and rude and angry, or they're... weird. Like, they don't remember stuff." he told her.

"It's just... unnerving." he went on.

"I feel like I don't really belong here."
