Cain just sighed.

"Can they afford to go into hiding?" he asked.

"Your Mom, specifically." he said.

"She's... in a position of great power, responsibility, and leadership." he continued.

"Can she even GO into hiding?" he inquired.

"Admittedly, I don't know crap about politics. Mage or otherwise." he added at the end.

"Uh... yeah?" Cain responded.

"That's... not an issue at all." he said.

"But we have bigger things to worry about than your visor." he told her.

"You... you at least LOOK like a human, without the need for a glamour." he commented.

"My entire family... well... doesn't." he muttered.

"And depending on how thorough this gets... we might need to hide away from the public for a very long time..."

Cain said nothing, and just checked the news feed.

"....I..." he stammered.

"....what?" he asked.

"This... this can't be real." he said.

"There's no way..." he went on.

"They're hunting... 'non-norms'?" he asked her.

"Like... like a modern-day Salem?" he asked further.

"......" Lindsay was silent.

She had a point. She legitimately had a point, and he had no words for that.

"Heh. Fair." was all he managed to get out.

Cain looked over towards the one that had approached him, seeing the concern and panic in her expression.

"Huh?" he muttered.

"No... no, I haven't." he admitted.

"Been kind of wrapped up in a project." he reasoned.

"Why, what's going on?" he asked her.

"......" Lindsay was silent, and bit his lip.

"I know." he said.

"I... I need to do all I can for my family." he told her.

"My wife, my children... nothing must happen to them." he went on.

"...I'll do anything for them." he then said.

"Even sell my soul to the devil, if it meant their safety."

That seems to seal it.

His Aunt... something had finally snapped inside her.

She wasn't going to hide away with the family. She intended to fight for her life, or die trying.

And he was completely unsure on how to deal with it. He didn't know what to say or do here.

Was there anything he even COULD say or do?

"Well... I suppose you're right." he said.

"...if something happens to you, then Mom may very well rampage again. And with your power... she'll likely be unstoppable." he then mumbled, as the thought of it entered his mind.

Again, Lindsay was silent, taking in what she told him.

"...so." he said.

"You're set in this, huh?" he asked her, going and sitting down across from her.

"This is the hill you've decided to die on." he continued.

"Metaphorically and quite possibly literally." he went on.

"...will Mom be able to handle the influx of power if... the unthinkable happens?"

"I... I understand that." Lindsay replied.

"Believe me. I do." he told her.

"But is this really the time to worry about dignity?" he asked.

"Shouldn't we stay together as a family?" he asked her.

"Are you really willing to risk your own death for this?" he continued.

"...do you feel THAT strongly about it?"

"........" Lindsay was at a loss for words when he heard that.

"I..." he stammered.

"Right." he said.

"I see." he mumbled further.

"Anyway, Mom told me she has a bit of a hideaway for just such an occasion." he informed her.

"Has room for about 12 people, and enough food and water for 15 years." he continued.

"Maybe... maybe we should consider it." he then suggested to her.

"...." Lindsay was silent for a moment.

"A drink?" he asked.

"Maybe... maybe whatever juice you have." he said.

"Listen, Aunt Rocky, I'm... sure you've heard the news." he then led off with.

"Can we talk about it?" he asked.

"Mom has something she wanted me to tell you."

Lindsay nodded in response.

"Right." he said.

He then made his way to the Remmington manor, where he was let in by Vincent, and then made his way down to Rocky's apartment, sighed as he approached the door, and knocked.

"Aunt Rocky!?" he called in.

"It's me, Lindsay!" he said.

"Can we talk!?"

Lindsay raised an eyebrow.

"You know, at any other time, I would want to have a serious talk with you about doomsday prepping and your rampant paranoia." he told her, before pausing for a brief moment and sighing.

"But you make it very hard when it legitimately pays off and you end up being right." he said.

It was partially him telling the truth, but in such a way that he hoped to inject a smidgen of levity into the situation. If nothing else, just to try and help his mother continue to keep her cool, as much as she was.

"Anyway, I'm going to go talk to Aunt Rocky." he continued.

"See how she's doing, and talk to her about this."

"Hm." Lindsay mumbled.

"I suppose so." he said.

"I'll go talk to her." he told his mother.

"...this shelter of yours... should I bring it up?" he asked.

"Does she know about it? And would it be worth telling her right now to potentially help calm her down?" he asked further.

All the while, he was marvelling at how well his mother seemed to be taking this, when she was known for fits of panic and distress.

"This is true." Lindsay agreed.

"But still. We should be careful, all the same." he reasoned.

"This... this is going to be a trying time." he mumbled further.

"...wonder if Aunt Rocky's heard the news..." he then said.

"She should know about this."
