"...." Ash was silent for a moment.

"Got it." was all he said, before hanging up.

About a minute later, she heard knocking on her door.

"Hey!" she heard his voice call in.

"Vicki!?" he asked.

"What's going on in there? You okay!?"

There was silence for a moment on the other side.

"...Vicki?" he said.

"Right, something's wrong." he then said.

"Where are you?" he asked.

"And how can I help? What do you need?" he asked further.

"Something tells me time's a factor here, so I'm ready to go right NOW if you need me."

After a few seconds of ringing, the phone was answered.

"Fyrane residence. who y'lookin' for?" Ash said.

"And if you're looking for Dr. Lindsay Fyrane, call his work number. This number is NOT for business use." he then said.

Before she could say anything, she then heard his voice again, though this time a bit muffled.

"Hey. HEY! Get AWAY from the halibut!" he scolded... something.

She could guess what was happening, and this was, in fact, Ash.

"Sorry about that." he then said back into the phone.

"Anyway, sup?" he asked.

Emerald and Hal watched her leave, and Emerald sighed.

"Yeah, I know." he said.

"It may be best if you don't give yourself a headache over this." he suggested to Hal.

"Just know that that IS Vicki. She says she's not, and she's technically right, but that IS Victoria Remmington, and she IS from this dimension." he assured him further.

"......" Hal was silent, and smirked.

"I can get my answers NOW." he said further.

"Shoo, shoo. I'm sure you have work to do." he then told Emerald, who looked confused and left.

He then snapped his fingers, and closed his eyes.

"....interesting." was all he mumbled to himself.

Hal nodded.

"You do that." he replied.

"...I'm still not fully convinced on any of this, but if Emerald deems you trustworthy, I will believe him." he then said.

'Thanks." Emerald replied.

"Come on." he sad to Vic.

"You should be going ASAP."

"......" Ha was silent as he felt the mana within her.

"Hm." he mumbled.

"You may need limiters." he told her.

"SERIOUS limiters." he said further.

"I get the feeling that, if left unchecked, your body will fall apart." he went on.

"Literally."

Hal just sighed heavily.

He then reached into one of the drawers and took out a plastic card. He fiddled on his computer for a moment, and handed the card to here.

"Here." he said.

"A disposable pre-loaded credit card." he told her.

"Usually given to agents going undercover, or don't want to leave a paper trail in case their cover gets blown." he said.

"I've loaded it with enough for a week's stay at the Season's Inn."

Hal thought for a moment.

"No, I don't believe so." he answered.

"Why?" he asked.

"And Emerald, you say this IS, indeed, Vicki, and we can trust her?" he asked Emerald.

"In essence, yes, and yes we can." Emerald confirmed.

"Then MY bank account can easily accommodate you." Hal then told Vic.

Both Hal and Emerald were quiet for a moment, before Hal sighed.

"Firstly, Vicki was coming here so we could work on her showing she is capable of being Hollie's successor." he told her.

"...oh yeah, that IS a thing that's happening." Emerald mumbled.

"Secondly, Hollie generally stays at the Season's Inn here in the city." Hal then told her further. "Specifically, when she's here on official business." he then clarified further.

"Mostly because they cater to mages... and strong ones, at that." he said.

"They ARE pricey, though."

Both Hal and Emerald were silent as she said what she did.

"That's... less than informative." Hal said in an unimpressed tone.

"You get used to it." Emerald mumbled.

"So you know her." Hal then said to him.

"I do." Emerald confirmed. "It's a long story that is borderline headache-inducing, but yes, I DO know here." he said further.

"And she can be trusted." Hal went on.

"Of course." Emerald replied.

"Then you shall have full access to this place, much like Vicki would." Hal said to Vic, before pausing.

"...and I suppose this means my scheduled meeting with Vicki is cancelled." he mumbled at the end.

Ryker just sighed.

"All right, chill, Eke." he said.

"Just chill." he told him.

"Concentrate on your feet. They touch bottom." he went on.

"You're standing. You're with me. You're fine." he continued.

"Just breathe. Deep inhales, deep exhales. Keep them slow and constant."

"You would be correct." Hal confirmed.

"Even I'M not sure what he's been working on." he admitted.

"Is it really so dangerous, though?" he then asked her.

"I've never seen Lindsay as one that would do something like that." he told her.

"Or is this an emphasis on his being 'an idiot', and his naivety having consequences?" he asked.

Hal just groaned again.

"Wonderful." he said.

"....you takin' about Lindsay?" Emerald asked.

"We are." Hal confirmed.

"I think he's supposed to show up Saturday morning." Em then commented.

"Ah, yes. At 9 am." Hal remembered.

"And it's... Thursday right now." he finished, looking at his computer.

Hal was silent, and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"...you are making next to NO sense." he told her.

"For a second, I thought that you were from another dimension, but now your terminology seems to say that you from THIS world." he said.

"It's complicated!" Emerald said, sticking his head in, having stuck around.

"Involves time-travel, too!" he added.
