Lex just smiled a little as Madison let out her cheer... and some smiles could be seen amongst the board as well.

He then got up, and made his way over towards where he was directed, signing where he was told to sign, and they went over some last-minute things.

"And that is all." they said.

"Merci." they finished.

Lex then looked over towards Madison, nodded, smiled, and quickly made his way over, giving her a hug.

"We did it." he told her.

"You're living with me and Aimee now." he said quietly, happiness more than apparent in his tone.

"...I see." Alex replied.

"I'll be honest, there were a fair amount of strikes against you." another said.

Already, Lex's heart was sinking. This wasn't sounding good, at all.

"I see..." was all he could manage to get out.

"...however." another chimed in. "They were all small. Negligible, even." they commented. "And the more we looked into this case, the more we came to a realisation." they continued.

"We'd have to be absolute fools to not let young Madison be your ward." they told him.

"Quite frankly, there doesn't seem to be anyone better suited to raising her. So we have reached a near-unanimous decision." they went on.

"As of right now, you, Alexandre Leblanc, are the legal and official ward of Madison Kiczys."

"Well, that's good." Lex replied.

"...hope that this goes well at the end." he muttered.

Sure enough, about 5 minutes later, the door opened.

"We're ready for you now." they were told.

Lex looked at Madison, before extending his hand.

"Let's go." he told her.

"This is it, Madison."

Lex wanted to tell her to stop pacing... but he understood why she was doing so. He wanted to tell her it would all be fine... but he didn't know if it would be. This was nervewracking for him, and he'd not been this nervous in a VERY long time.

It didn't help that time seemed to just be slugging along as well.

Eventually, the door opened, and Aimee was escorted out. The one that did so looked at Alex and Madison next.

"Mr. LeBlanc. Madison. Give us 5 minutes to deliberate, after hearing Ms. Leblanc's testimony." he told them, before disappearing back into the room, shutting the door behind him.

"...well?" Lex asked Aimee.

"How did it seem like it was going?"

"...I... wow." Alex muttered. "Holy shit." he mumbled further.

"Ah... yeah, sure." he said.

"I'll be staying with her until she falls asleep." Uriel said. "And then I need to head upwards." he added.

"Yeah, sure thing." Lex replied.

"Also, I'm one of your character references." Uriel then informed Lex.

"Oh, thanks!" Lex responded, exhaling slowly.

"So that makes you and Aimee, and I need to see about Vincent." he said, thinking about it.

"What will be needed of me?" Uriel asked.

"I have the forms to fill out." Lex responded. "If you come see me before you leave, I'll give them to you." he told him.

"Got it." the archangel replied.

"More than likely." Uriel replied, making sure she was comfortable.

Sure enough, about a minute later, Lex stepped into the room.

"Half-dead?" he asked.

"Holy crap." he then said upon seeing his sister.

"What the hell happened?" he asked.

"Your line of work has risks and challenges, yeah, but it's not THAT dangerous, is it?"

"...." Ryker was silent, before chuckling.

"Well, it DOES smell good in here." he said.

"As long as you're all right." he then told him.

He then paused, before sighing.

"Want help?" he asked.

"Keeping Aly away from the kitchen, that is?"

Ryker quickly looked over in the direction he heard that.

"Excuse me." he said to her.

He then rushed inside.

"Eke!?" he exclaimed.

"What happened in here, everything all right!?"

"Oh, not yet." Uriel responded.

"It's not your time QUIIIITE yet." he told her with a smirk.

Then, before she could say anything, she was lifted up in his arms, and carried up the stairs, stopping at Lex's room.

"Yo!" Uriel called in.

"Wake up!" he said.

"Ngh, wha!?" they heard Lex from behind the door.

"Whas going on???"

Uriel watched her get to her feet, and sighed.

"You gonna be all right to?" he asked.

"I can give you a lift up if you like." he offered with a smirk and a chuckle, as he slid close to her and unfurled a wing, the white feathers wrapping around her slightly.

"And I'll wake Lex up." he then said.

"One of you should be awake while Madison's here, at least."

"........" Uriel was silent as she said that.

"You'll need to be prepared for that." he told her.

"Odds are it will be a very harrowing experience." he said.

"Potentially traumatic." he went on.

"She may need the both of you there to help her through it." he continued, before pausing.

"Scratch that, help her SURVIVE it."

Uriel just nodded.

"Makes sense." he said.

"Your mana is a part of you. It's part of who you are." he said.

"To suppress and subdue it is... unnatural." he went on.

"Thankfully that won't be an issue here." he assured her.

"Here you'll be free to be... you."

"Fair enough." Uriel responded.

"I'll speak with him about it ASAP." he told her.

He then sighed quietly, and looked at Madison.

"Hey." he said.

"You're plenty strong." he told her.

"Make sure to nurture those gifts and abilities." he continued.

"A mage that lets their talents go to waste is a shame."

Uriel nodded in response.

"Yeah, sure." he said.

"It's the least I can do." he told her.

He then thought for a moment, and nodded once more.

"Yeah... yeah, shouldn't be a problem at all." he assured her.

"Just let me know what all you'll need from me, and when." he said.

"My days are... well, they're busy, but the schedule is always shuffleable."
