"....." Ryker was silent for a moment, and sighed.

"Oh, it's... just that when I turn 30, the demon inside me will... well... fully merge with me." he told her.

"So I can regain my throne." the demon said, taking control again.

"I must wrest control back from that upstart that's going to cause a calamity down there." he told her.

"When Ry-Guy reaches 30, he'll be peak condition for it."

"....." Lex was silent as his bit his lip.

"...I want to keep her." he said.

"I want to become her legal guardian." he told her.

"I... I can't explain it, but... I feel like I want to help her. As in, I want to show her a life she's never gotten to experience." he went on.

"Maybe because I can relate to her on a personal level. I empathise with her." he then said.

"We both can."

Alex nodded in response.

"Yep." he agreed.

"I'll do so shortly." he told her. "Tomorrow at the latest." he clarified.

"...." he was then silent, and sighed quietly.

"Yeah, she... seems to have had a rough life." he continued.

"...she honestly thought I was going to lock her in her room overnight." he revealed further.

"Aimee, it... almost breaks my heart." he mumbled.

"Just... she's so young..."

"I have not, yet." Alex admitted.

"Then again, she only showed up earlier today." he said.

"I prioritised making sure she knew she was safe here, and making sure she was fed." he told her.

"That being said, yes, I do need to tell the Council about this." he then agreed.

"She's extremely powerful." he went on, before pausing.

"...I want to help her so badly, Aimee." he added quietly.

"....a bit." Alex mumbled.

"...Aimee, let's sit." he said.

When they did, he bit his lip slightly.

"She was abandoned here by her family." he told her.

"And by 'here', I mean... well... this country. This continent. She's from Canada." he continued.

"And she had a choker on that she couldn't remove. It made it so she was unable to access her mana."

A few seconds later, Alex came into view.

"Yo, Aimee." he greeted her.

"....noticed it, huh?" he asked.

"Yeah... kinda hard NOT to." he mumbled, shaking his head slightly.

"What you're sensing is our new guest." he told her further.

"And yes, she's young, and has such a presence." he continued.

"She's currently cleaning herself up in the bath, by the way." he then added.

"Thank you." Alex replied.

After a few moments, they ended their conversation, and he hung up.

He then made his way back upstairs, and sighed.

"....wow." he mumbled.

"I... don't think there's anyone else that can do this." he said.

"I need to care for her." he went on.

"...fate's funny."

A few seconds later, she actually received a call.

"Hey." he said when she answered.

"No, I'm not in trouble." he told her.

"I'll keep this short and sweet for now. A little girl showed up asking for help, and... well, she needs it. I want to give it to her." he continued.

"So until I can get her some more variety to choose from, and so she has more than one outfit, just bring about 3 or 4 shirts and undergarments, as well a pair of pants." he continued.

"Trust me, I'm NOT in trouble."

"......." Alex was silent for a moment, before sighing.

He then made his way to the closed bathroom door and checked her clothing. Once he did, he took it all down to the washing machine they had, and placed them inside, starting it up.

As soon as he did, he sent a text to someone.

It had the sizes that he'd seen on the clothing, and asked the one he sent them to bring home a few of each article of clothing. Mostly neutral colours and designs.

I'll explain when you get back. he then sent.

"....ah, yeah, sure." Alex replied.

"Go ahead." he told her.

He then thought for a moment, seemingly concentrating on something.

"Hmmmmm." he mumbled.

"Do me a favour?" he asked.

"Toss those clothes just outside the bathroom when you take a bath." he told her.

"They need to be washed as well." he reasoned, though he did want to get the sizes, so he could grab some more for her.

"Oh, and the small closet door by the bathroom is the bathroom closet. Grab one of the robes in there as well. They'll swim on you, but they'll be warm and cosy." he added.

Alex was taken aback by the question.

"Excuse me!?" he exclaimed.

He then paused for a moment, and took a small breath, holding it for a moment and exhaling it slowly.

"No." he said.

"Why would I ever lock you in your room at night?" he asked.

"That... that doesn't seem like something to do..." he went on.

'...what kind of hell did this girl grow up in...?' he then asked himself mentally.

Alex just smiled softly.

"Yeah." he chuckled.

"It's a common thing for those like us to do." he told her.

"My sister's actually one as well." he then said.

"I'll introduce you when she gets home." he went on.

"She'll be thrilled to know another necromancer."

Alex was about to say something, before pausing.

"...heh." he chuckled.

"Yes." he said.

"But I assure you, you're not alone." he told her.

"And I assume you can tell why." he went on.

"...or at least, have some idea?"

Alex just sighed.

"What did I say?" he asked.

"I said you were welcome to stay here." he told her.

"I said I would try to make it that you could stay here long-term." he went on.

"You may be feeling a lot better, but you're still out a place to stay." he continued.

"I am NOT sending you back into the streets."
