There was silence on the other side for a moment.

"Resignation." he then said.

"I see." he muttered.

"Well, this sort of thing IS best done face-to-face." he told her.

"And I can free up time RIGHT NOW for this." he went on.

"Assuming that works for you?"

"Yeah." Theo replied.

"Yeah, that works." he told her.

"Just... well... good luck." he then said.

"I... hope things go well for you." he continued, sighing quietly.

"....as well as can be expected, I guess." he mumbled further.

"Oh, I don't know." he admitted.

"Just... yeah, good luck in quitting your job." he summarised.

"........" Theo was silent as Sierra said what she did, before sighing.

"I... I see." he said.

"Well... uh... I mean..." he stammered, shaking his head a little.

"Officially?" he asked.

"That... is a good question." he admitted.

"I mean, we... well... we used to... uh... well..." he then stammered, before sighing again.

"We agreed to try to be boyfriend and girlfriend, and it was going well for... well... almost two years."

"....yeah." Theo mumbled.

"And... quite frankly, I wouldn't be able to deal with that." he told her.

"My life without you in it? No. Just... no." he went on.

"I hope things work out for you." he then said further.

"Even if the Unit and everyone in there turns their back on you, you still have me." he continued.

"...for whatever that's worth."

Ryker's eyes widened a bit, and his face turned a little red, before he grinned.

"Heh." he chuckled.

"Well, you're welcome." he said.

"...listen, I know I'm a bit... well... distant, but I'm changing that." he then told her.

"After this is over, and after I know Eke is safe, I plan to... calm down and get closer to those around me." he went on.

"And we can get to know each other a LOT more closely."

"......................." Theo was just stunned silent for a moment.

"I... ah..." he stammered.

"Sure. I guess." he said.

"...it hurts that the Unit is going to just let you go like this." he went on.

"I was under the impression that they cared." he continued.

"And here you are, essentially fired, for being different now." he lamented.

"Life is not fair."

"....well, that's a relie-" Theo started to say, before abruptly pausing.

"Wait, what!?" he asked.

"Resignation!?" he exclaimed.

"But... b-but why?" he asked her.

"You love the Unit." he said.

"Why would you leave it?" he asked her further.

"I... I don't know." Theo admitted.

"I can't even remember who I was in life." he admitted.

"But at least YOU have a body now. A life again." he told her.

"What are you going to do with it?" he asked.

"And should I start looking for somewhere else to live?" he asked further.

"I mean... wouldn't it be awkward for a ghost and a mortal to share a place?"

"....no, no." Theo said.

"I can tell it's you." he told her.

"Your soul doesn't lie." he continued.

"I know it's you." he assured her.

"......so. You're alive, huh? Properly?" he asked.

"Heh. Good for you." he said, a bit of a sad smile on his face.

Ryker just chuckled nervously.

"It's a rose." he told her.

"Well... not really." he then said.

"It's chocolate. But in the shape of a rose." he continued.

"....for you." he finished, handing it towards her.

"........" again, Theo was silent, before sighing.

"I mean, I... won't say no..." he said.

He then stepped forward and poked his head in.

And he froze when he saw what he did.

"Wh... what the!?" he exclaimed.

"Sierra!?" he asked.

"What happened!?"

Ryker was caught off guard by what Eke said and gave him, before stopping AT the door.

"All right, all right!" he said.

"I'll give it to her." he told him, clearing his throat a bit and taking the flower.

He then sighed and stepped outside, closing the door behind him.

"Uh... hello?" he asked, looking around.

"........." Theo was silent as he heard all that.

"I.... what...?" he mumbled.

He then slowly made his way to the bathroom, and poked his head in.

"...Sierra?" he asked.

"Is... is everything okay?" he asked further.

"Why the sudden... well... urge to shower?"

Jake was silent as he saw her disappear.

"I..." he stammered.

"Wait, what?" he muttered, scratching his head slightly.

Meanwhile, someone was in a house, waiting for someone.

"...hope she gets back soon." he said.

"....hope everything went all right, too." he continued.

That's when he felt the mana presence in the house... one that was unfamiliar to him.

"What the!?" he exclaimed, immediately on high alert.
