Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"...brother!?" Jaden exclaimed.

"....I admit, didn't expect THAT." he said.

"And there is probably a LOT to unpack there." he went on, shaking his head slightly.

"I still stand by what I said, though." he then told her.

"If I had had the chance, he'd have been a desiccated husk by the time I was done with him."

my little jokes on thee...

Jaden sighed quietly.

"Live in fear, huh?" he asked.

"...that's no way to live." he mumbled under his breath, sounding a bit sad, as he turned down a street they came up on.

"Guessing it has to do with the fucker that attacked Father Dean." he commented.

"Damn it, I wanted to drain the little asshole dry." he growled.

my little jokes on thee...

"Yeah, that's fair." Jaden replied.

"I just need to choose what sort of glamour I have... or glamours... and how they're applied." he said further.

"Attaching them to glasses would be simple... but if they get knocked off, I'm in trouble..." he then mumbled.

"Maybe a wrist band or something..." he continued, before shaking his head.

"Concentrate on driving!" he scolded himself.

"The place is about 10 minutes away. Lemme know if you see Wallace Ave, okay?" he asked.

my little jokes on thee...

"......." Jaden was silent for a moment, before groaning.

"WHY did I not think of that." he muttered.

"I should be able to afford quality glamours." he stated. "In fact, I AM able to." he laughed.

"Such an obvious solution, and it was flying under my radar." he commented further.

"...seriously, thank you for helping me see that solution, right in front of my face."

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"How often?" Jaden asked.

"Uh... I'd say when I go out, there's a 55% chance I'll be recognised?" he said to her.

"It happens often enough to be annoying." he sighed.

"I should wear more disguises." he admitted.

"Or learn to not go out." he sighed.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"Hm." Jaden mumbled.

"Maybe I should tuck my bangs in and wear dark glasses." he said.

"...also, thanks." he then said to her.

"It's refreshing to meet someone that didn't recognise me." he told her further.

He then started the car, and they pulled away.

"Anyway, I think we should be good now."

Her and Jaden quickly weaved through some alleys, before his car was in sight. He took out his key fob and pressed it, the car making the familiar chirping sound.

"Quickly, get in." he told her.

"Worst case scenario is that she attracted a small group, but if we start driving now, we should be able to REALLY lose her. Or them. Whichever." he said further.

"...and sorry about this." he then sighed.

"I really thought wearing ordinary clothing would cause me to blend in, as my stage clothing is a big distinguishing characteristic of mine."

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Jaden looked at the text, and was stunned for a moment.

What is THAT supposed to mean? he sent back.

Are you saying I AM? he then asked in another text.

Seriously. Am I, or am I not, a hunter-born? he then sent, his teeth clenching a little, until they heard a young female call out.

"Oh-mah-gawd! Is that SABRE!?" she shrieked.

"...ohhhhhhh no." Jaden mumbled, before looking to Desiree.

"We need to speed up. Like, NOW." he told her.

great big one on me.

It takes a patting, like, no problem. Right? Not afraid at ALL. That's a great cat, right there.

"Yeah." Jaden replied.

"I parked somewhat close to the church, so let's go." he told her.

"Might as well check to see if the scene's been cleaned up as well." he went on.

"I know it hasn't been long, but Rene's great at getting a 'clean-up crew' there quick." he reasoned.

"So may as well see if it's been taken care of." he shrugged.

Jaden finished putting the shirt on, and nodded.

"I do." he said.

"And the water pressure's fine." he told her.

"I didn't leave a mess in there either, I assure you." he added, before grabbing his phone.

He then sent a text to his mother.

I'm not a hunter-born, right? it asked plainly and simply.

"Now. Food, yes?" he asked Desiree.

great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Sure enough, she didn't receive a reply by the time Jaden was out of the shower. However, to be fair, he was only in there for 10 minutes or so. When he stepped out of the shower, he was wearing nothing but his jeans and socks... as well as his knit hat. But it allowed her to see two things. The first one was the wound that he had received from Deryck. It looked as Jaden said, just a nick, but that damn dagger made the most of any injury it dealt. However, there was a weird translucent light blue film over it, and she could guess it was the salve he mentioned.

The second thing she saw was that Jaden was surprisingly ripped. He looked like a skinny boy with his clothes on, but she could see that his torso had definition to it, much like his arms.

"...oh! Sorry!" Jaden apologised suddenly.

"I fell into my habit of not putting a shirt on after a shower to just let myself air-dry a bit." he told her.

"Sorry if this is making you uncomfortable." he finished, starting to put his clean shirt on.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Jaden looked over towards the door, and sighed again.

"Know what? I really could use a shower." he lamented.

He looked at his bloodied shirt, and shook his head.

"Yeah." he mumbled.

"Thanks." he said to her, before going into the room and shutting the door behind him.

"I won't be very long!" he called out.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

"..........." Jaden seemed to be stunned by this.

She could see that his entire existence was coming into question now. Or at least, his identity.

"I... I..." he stammered.

"Right." he said.

"When we get to your place, I need to send a text." he told her.

"Just... need to text someone."

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.
