"No, AVOID the Council." Vincent responded, his tone adamant.

"Part of the Council building collapsed due to an apparent infestation of Irontooth Termites." he told her.

"Some areas have collapsed, but there's people there already taking care of the fumigation and extermination. The building was evacuated, and nobody is allowed back in." he explained further.

"And there were some injuries." he then said to her.

"Percy, Eugene, Milton, Elmer, and Herbert were all struck by debris. Doesn't look like they'll die, but they'll be spending some forced time away from the Council to recuperate and recover." he finished.

Those names were familiar to her. They were the biggest thorns in her side in terms of people wanting to get rid of her.

Sharp raised an eyebrow when she said what she did, and then smirked.

"Heh." he chuckled quietly.

He then lowered his arm out the open window, and snapped his fingers.

A minute or so later, Hollie's cell phone started to ring, and she saw it was her brother.

When she answered it, he sounded... anxious.

"Hollie, I would not recommend you return to the Council anytime soon." he warned her.

Sharp raised an eyebrow when he heard that.

"Eh?" he muttered.

"By all rights, I really shouldn't even be taking this one?" he asked.

"What do you mean?" he asked her.

"Things all right at the Council and/or Triad?"

"Very true." Sharp replied, as they pulled out of the parking lot.

"But here? It's a good skill." he said.

"Anyway... thanks for accepting this." he told her.

"How often do you take these breaks, anyway?" he asked.

"Word through the pipeline is that you work yourself ragged, and only take breaks when they're insisted upon."

"In a city like this, it helps to know how to, and to own a vehicle." Sharp responded.

"Helps one blend in." he reasoned.

With that, the two of them made their way to a well-maintained dark blue Eclipse, and when they got in, Hollie could tell the seats were upgraded, as they were as plush as any pillow.

"All right then." Sharp said.

"Let's be off." he finished, as he started the vehicle.

Sharp nodded in response.

"Indeed." he replied.

"Shall I drive?" he asked.

"It's not too far, maybe about 30 minutes by car." he told her.

"Or we can use a more... direct method." he chuckled.

"Lady's preference." he finished.

Azazel just nodded, and looked around.

"Heh." he chuckled.

He then quickly pulled the ring off, allowing her to see some of his black and red 'cracked' 'molten' skin, before putting it back on, covering it up again.

"I'm still amazed sometimes." he said.

He and Aedan then said goodbye, before they split, leaving Hollie and Sharp alone.

"Yep, that ring is quite the feather in R&D's cap." he commented.

Azazel just gulped.

"R-right." he said.

"I'll be good. I promise." he told her.

Again, Sharp laughed.

"Just keep doing what you're doing, Azazel." he told him, to which the demon nodded.

"The ring holding up?" he then asked.

"Like a charm." Azazel responded.

Azazel shook his head vigorously.

"No Ma'am!" he replied.

"I'm not causing trouble!" he insisted.

Sharp just laughed heartily.

"He's a good kid." he told Hollie.

"He's one of the best operative's I have."

Azazel just bowed respectfully.

"Lady Remmington." he replied.

"Azazel here's a bonafide demon." Sharp informed Hollie.

Azazel jumped and froze for a moment, before he exhaled slowly.

"Ah, yes." he replied.

"I am." he confirmed.

Sharp just sighed as well.

"My crew... well... they tend to be a little antisocial." he told her.

"We're all here at the Unit because we've felt betrayed by the world at some point, and feel that here is where we are safe." he explained.

"Although..." he then muttered, seeing a pair approach them.

"Here comes Aedan and Azzy. Seems they had a bit of a late lunch as well." he commented, as the 4 of them got closer to each other.
Posted in When Life Just Goes Right Posted 6 years ago
"This is true." Sharp responded.

"You really do deal with a lot of crap." he commented.

"And that is worthy of a great deal of respect." he said further, as they made their way to the front doors.

"Jake, Miss Remmington and I are headed off for a late lunch." he told the security guard.

"Sure thing, boss." Jake replied, looking at them and giving them a small, flippant, but somewhat respectful salute.

"Indian?" Hal asked.

"Hmmm... yeah. Yeah, I know of just the place." he told her.

"Come on, then." he said.

"The Unit can do without me for a bit." he reasoned.

"And hey. I'm the boss. I deserve to take a break every so often." he added with a laugh.

"Same goes for you." he added.
Posted in When Life Just Goes Right Posted 6 years ago
"Ah! Good." Hal replied.

"Let us be off, then." he told her.

"You feel like any kind of cuisine in specific?" he then asked. "Because I can find any place, any food, and it'll be top quality." he assured her.

"Just name it." he said.

"You having any particular cravings?"
