Kai just shrugged.

"We just drifted a bit, I suppose." he said.

"Plus, I live in the ocean. Hard to keep up with those that live on land." he admitted.

"Regardless, that's about it." he went on.

"Why are you crossing the ocean?" he asked.

"More specifically, what's on the other continent? Besides your home city." he clarified.

"....yeah." Kai responded.

"Two reasons." he said.

"One is because I heard that you were on your way here, and wanted to spend time with you." he told her. "That ended up being the imposter, but it worked out anyway, kind of." he continued.

"I get to spend time with you, but... it's bittersweet because of your memory." he sighed.

"The other is because I want to get to the other continent." he continued.

"See if I can reconnect with another old friend that I haven't seen in a while."

"......." Kai seemed to be stunned for a moment, before laughing again.

"Fair enough." he said.

"It's either that or hide out until we're eventually found." he reasoned.

"May as well go on the offensive." he shrugged.

"...well, even though you're not fully you, it's good to see you again." he told her.

"I missed you."

"I suppose that's the best I can hope for right now." Kai muttered.

He then sighed and sat down beside her.

"Look..." he said.

"I'll understand if you want nothing to do with me." he told her.

"I'm just happy you're alive, and not missing." he said further.

"...I was really worried when my friend just disappeared without a trace. And I got scared." he admitted. "The fact that that woman would dare impersonate you infuriated me, because I feared she was disrespecting... well... your potential death." he continued.

"Now that I know you're alive, I won't let her bother me." he then said.

"If anything, it makes it laughable that the REAL you is so close to her, and she doesn't even realise it." he laughed.

Ryker immediately rushed to Eke and hugged him.

"Please don't." he said.

"You have people that love you and care about you here." he told him.

"I know you're in pain, and I wish I could help." he continued.

"But you can't run from your problems." he said further.

"...learned that the hard way early in life..." he mumbled.

Again, Kai was silent for a moment, before sighing heavily.

"Yeah." he said.

"I noticed you with the elf earlier, and guessed it was you. As such, I walked away from that argument, allowing the public to think that she's you... and allowing her to think that she's fooled me." he explained.

"Because... well... you're right." he admitted.

"If she wants to take the light away from you, and onto her, then she'll have to take the bad along with the good." he reasoned.

"But the fact that you've lost your memory is... extremely worrisome." he then told her.

"What could have done such a thing...?" he wondered aloud.

Kai just smirked.

"That's not my name." he said.

"But it IS what you called me when we were kids together." he told her.

"Which is more than enough proof for me." he reasoned.

He then sighed, and shook his head.

"Lissa, what happened?" he asked her.

"How could you forget about me?" he asked further.

The demon had Ryker grab the pillow and toss it onto the bed.

"Whatever." he said.

"I tried." he growled.

"And it gets thrown in my face. It's what I get for trying to be decent." he went on.

"But all right. This is it for me. You want Ry-Guy, you'll get him. Hell, know what? You'll never have to speak to ME again for as long as you live." he finished.

Then, before Eke could respond, control shifted back to Ryker, and he almost collapsed... but managed to stay standing.

"Great." he mumbled.

"THAT went from bad to worse in the span of a few seconds." he said.

"Sorry..." he apologised to Eke, sounding genuinely apologetic and worried.

"Yeah, that explains it." Kai responded.

"I know a quick fix." he told her.

He then approached and extended his hand.

"Take my hand." he said.

"Seriously. It's as simple as that." he said further.

"You'd be amazed the difference it's going to make."

Kai was silent again.

"See, that's confusing to me." he said.

"You're complaining about something you've experienced before." he told her.

"Seriously." he went on.

"Cruxes have the ability to sense another crux. Each crux is tied to another one." he explained.

"And what you're experiencing is the sensation of being near the crux that YOU are connected with.

"..." he was silent again for a moment.

"I'm so sure." he replied.

"I'll say it right now, looking back at it, compared to that imposter, you are the spitting image of my friend." he told her.

"Tell me." he said.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"My name's Kai." he introduced himself.

"Normally I wouldn't poke around, but something inside me is telling me there's more to you than meets the eye. You ring SO many familiarity bells in my mind it's not funny." he commented further.

"......." he was silent for a moment.

"Uh-huh." he mumbled.

"Well, at least you're more earnest than the other one." he said.

"Whatever." he mumbled.

"You're not claiming to be the friend I remember, so... I guess there's that." he went on.

"You're very similar to that imposter, though." he then added.

Just as she said what she did, and just as the headache was starting to get worse, she heard a voice.

"Hey." he said.

"You don't know what that is?" he asked.

"You've felt it before." he commented.

When she turned and looked at the source of it, she saw the one that had been arguing with the imposter a couple of days ago.

"Hello." he greeted her.

"Been a bit since we last saw each other, Callie."

Ceth just sighed.

"I know, I know." he said.

"But Xeri, it'll do us no good to sit around fretting about it." he reasoned.

"We need to be vigilant, yes, but you know Vyran's been distracted as of late." he told her.

"Let's patrol then, though." he suggested.

"See if we can find anything, and nip it in the bud if we need to."
