".....odd." Hal muttered.

"That's never happened before." he said.

"Might need to ask Chloe or Lunet about it later if it persists, or if something more happens to the system." he said further.

'Or if it comes up in conversation.' he added mentally, with a shrug.

-Some time later-

"...the hell is going on NOW?" Hal growled, looking through incident reports.

It seems that over the past while, more and more of his staff, across all departments, were getting less and less observant. More air-headed, less alert, and having poor short-term memory.

And none of the medics could identify what was causing it.

"If this keeps up, the Unit will come to a bloody standstill."

Hal just sighed.

"I shouldn't be surprised." he said.

"If you ever feel threatened or uncomfortable, let me know." he told her.

"After all, you are, for all intents and purposes, an employee here. You deserve the same rights at them, the most basic of which is to feel safe and welcome here." he reasoned.

"Regardless, thank you for your honesty." he continued.

"I'll let you get back to work now."

Hal nodded and sat down in the chair once more.

"Again, thank you for your services." he thanked her.

"By the way." he then said.

"How are things working for you here?" he asked.

"How have people been treating you and such?" he asked further.

"Has everything been all right? Any problems or issues?"

Hal shook his head.

"No." he replied.

"That's all." he told her.

"Thank you once again." he repeated, before heaving a bit of a sigh.

"Feel free to return to whatever it is you were doing, or planned to do." he continued.

"I'm sure there's still work to be done on the sore system here." he lamented.

"Ah yes, she is, indeed, still here, if I recall correctly." Hal responded.

"And yes, I would wager a guess that she IS helping out with the security scare. Or trying to help, anyway." he went on.

"...I really hope my team can see past that visor she needs." he muttered in a bit of a growl.

"Anyway, it's concerning that whatever caused that glitch is unknown, but it seems like you're all right now." he then said further.

"Do you want to find Lunet now?" he asked.

"I can call her here to the office if you like." he then offered.

"...looks like the little whelp is about to die." the necromancer laughed.

Ryker didn't respond to him.

Instead, he jumped up high... until he was over top the crystal, and clapped his hands together.

"We'll see about THAT!" he yelled.

He then formed a massive ball of energy between his hands, and fired it straight down towards the crystal.

"SHATTER INTO SHARDS!" he yelled further, as the energy pushed hard against the crystal, trying to break into it, and through it.

Hal just sighed quietly.

"I expect a full report about what happened." he told her.

"But you can create a document for that." he said.

"It needs to be a document, anyway. Red tape and reporting and filing and such." he reasoned, shaking his head.

"Oh, how did your maintenance go?" he then asked.

"Lunet able to get you back into tip-top shape?"

"Not necessary." Hal responded.

"If anything, leave a .txt file or something. I'll read it over after." he told her.

"And if I have any questions, I'll ask either you or Lunet." he reasoned with another laugh.

He then made his way to the water cooler he had, and got something to drink.

"Chloe." he addressed her.

"I'm glad you're working here, at the Unit." he told her.

"You've been a massive help here, to massively understate it."

Hal just sighed.

"Might as well deal with them now." he said.

"Small things can before big things." he reasoned.

"So it's best to nip them in the bud." he added with a small shrug.

"So yes, please deal with them." he told her.

"Just don't take a while."

Ryker was forced back, but remained on his feet.

"...allllll right then." he said, cracking his knuckles.

"I like a challenge." he said further.

"You shouldn't have meddled here." a voice said in the distance.

"This does not concern you." they added.

Ryker just laughed out loud.

"You have NO idea!" he declared in response.

"Very well." Hal responded.

He then got out of her way, and allowed her to sit in his chair.

"Lunet has already checked it." he said.

"But it shouldn't hurt if you do as well." he continued.

"Better safe than sorry." he reasoned with a small chuckle.

"......" Hal was silent for a moment, before nodding.

"Good." he said.

"At least they're patched." he said further.

"That's improvement." he reasoned.

"Thank you."

"Seem to be." they replied.

"We'll try and maintain it as we can." he told her.

"Thank you." he said further.

With that, he dashed away.

She was alone again.

However, a pair of eyes was still upon her, secretly.

As she was walking, a tech stopped her.

"Wait!" they said.

"Did you do it!?" they asked.

"Did you solve the problem!?" they asked further.

"You were in the office for a while, and I heard a weird noise, but we were told not to bother you." they continued.

"But how did it go?"
