His mouth dropped open, and he found himself at a loss for words, initially.

Finally, his voice found him.

"Ah..." he stammered.

"Callie?" he asked.

"Is... that you?" he asked further.

All the while, he was wondering if he was still asleep. She couldn't have recovered THAT much, THAT soon.

Could she?

Adym nodded once more.

"All right." he replied.

"Just... be aware that she thinks that this might not be real, or whatever." he said.

"She's more than a little overwhelmed by this world." he added.

They then parted ways, and he made his way back to his old house, and found it to be perfectly liveable, if not a bit dusty.

"......no place like home." he said quietly to himself.

He would clean up a little, and then crash in his bed. He felt immensely tired.

Again, Adym was silent, before sighing and nodding.

"...you're right." he admitted.

"I'd just make things worse here." he said.

"I hate that, but I cannot deny it." he mumbled further, shaking his head.

"Thank you." he then told them.

"For what you've done for me, and anything you can do for Callie." he went on.

"...fair warning, she... well... uh..." he then stammered, before telling them about what had happened in the dimensional transport gate, and what Vyran seemed to have done to her.

"Though it seems like things are slipping through the cracks." he added.

"......" Ryker was silent as he saw the storm clouds clear, and the blizzard subside.

He looked the woman, now sound asleep, and sighed.

"...won't be long now." he whispered.

"Guess it's time." he mumbled.

He then gently lifted the woman up in his arms, before using 'his' demonic wings to float down to the ground, before he carried her inside the house.

"The future is decided now." he told himself quietly.

Adym looked back at them, and sighed.

He gathered his thoughts, took a deep breath, exhaled slowly, and spoke.

He told her all that had happened. What they had done, and what had happened to them.

"...the guardian was corrupted." he said.

"But we... took care of it, and a new one seems to be there now." he told her.

"...though it seems like the venom is in her system." he said quietly.

"That scares me."

Adym nodded slowly, and brought the bulb to his lips, allowing the liquid to slip into his mouth and down his throat.

Once he did, he exhaled slowly, and relaxed his body.

"I can feel it." he said.

"Reinvigorating and re-energising my body." he commented.

"This is truly amazing." he went on.

"I'm always in awe of that nectar."

Adym then paused when he heard the word escape Callie's lips, but he shook his head, realising there was no time to get hung up on that.

"Right." he said.

He then nodded to the one that had approached, and they all made their way to where the medic was.

Once there, they entered the building, and both Adym and Callie were ready to drop... Callie more so.

"...here..." Adym said.

"....finally..."

"The Guardian." Adym responded.

"We... we stopped the Guardian, and ended the source of the corruption." he told them.

"But... but the Guardian's fangs... they cut her." he went on, gesturing to Callie.

"The venom is inside her." he continued.

"She needs help." he said.

"She needs the medicine woman."

Adym didn't have time to process how Callie had seemed to understand what he'd said, before it hit him.

"....shit!" he cursed.

"The venom!" he exclaimed.

"Callie, the guardian's venom! Its teeth cut you!" he realised.

"HEY!" he yelled out again.

"SHE'S DYING! HELP!" he shouted out.

"SYN'THROVA!" he then yelled once more, the Elven word for 'mayday', effectively. It denoted a serious problem, and time was a factor.

Adym looked at her.

"I... in general, that's not good." he said.

"I wonder if it's because of loss of blood?" he suggested.

"Regardless, feeling disconnected means something serious is happening." he continued.

He then turned, and looked around.

"HEY!" he called out.

"ALOSHA-DAL-KYNDRA!" he shouted further.

"Yeah, that's not good." Adym responded.

"At all." he said.

He then looked around, and sighed.

"Suppose we should see if the medicine woman is still here." he went on.

"..." he was then silent for a moment, before it connected.

".....disconnected?" he asked.

"Ohhhh, that's REALLY not good..."

"Right." Adym responded.

After a little more walking, the trees started to thin a little, and they saw a city sprawled out before them.

"And we're here." he said.

"Home." he said further.

"...or what's left of it, anyway..." he mumbled.

"You feeling any worse?" he then asked her.

"....." Adym remained silent as he saw her faltering more and more, little by little.

He wasn't going to say anything just yet, but he would if things jumped in severity.

They left the shrine, she could immediately sense that the woods were more welcoming. She didn't feel the constant sense of dread or unease now.

But that was... little comfort.

"This way." Adym told her.

"We're not far from home." he said.

"We'll see a medic when we get there."

Ryker could see that she wasn't going to be one for conversation right now.

And that was fine with him.

He just held her hand in response, and sighed happily.

He stared at the sky above them, and nodded to himself.

'For her.' he thought.

'I have to survive this. Not just for Eke, or Aly, or myself... but for her as well.'
