"Live?" Jake asked.

"Ah yes, we plan to have live-in facilities." Hal responded.

"We wish for The Unit to be a place where those like us can truly feel safe." he said further.

"Us?" Jake asked, causing Hal to wag his finger a little.

"You'll perhaps learn more about that in good time." he said evasively.

Hal was silent for a moment, and nodded.

"Your time with the drow may have been absolute hell, but we can't deny it improved you." he said.

"Overall... you're just what we're looking for." he added with a smile.

"Plus, there's no residual drow mana left in you." he continued.

"I dare say we've found our man, Sydney." he told the vampire with a small laugh.

Ryker just smiled.

"Awesome." he said.

"That's... seriously awesome." he told him.

"Good that you're moving on and... well... maturing, I suppose would be the right term." he went on.

"You've really changed since we first met." he then added.

"I getcha." Ryker responded.

"Puberty's a bitch." he said.

"And there's no rush for you to 'discover yourself', so to speak." he went on.

"You doing all right?" he then asked.

"That had to have been scary, gettin' close to that gunk again."

Jake nodded in response.

"I know." he said.

"I would expect no less." he told her.

"I'm ready whenever you are." he then said further.

"Ask what you need to, do what you need to." he went on.

As Jake spoke, Sydney could see he was different from when she'd first met him. He looked like a man that had had many harsh experiences in his life, and it had toughened him up considerably, both mentally AND physically.

"Sydney?" Jake asked in response when he saw her.

"Oh, you know each other?" Hal inquired.

"We have a history." Jake said in response.

"As for how myself and Hal met, we literally just met when I showed up here looking for the security position." he then said further.

"Indeed." Hal said.

"We've never met before this."

Hal laughed in response, and the two of them left her office.

They made their way down the corridors, before stopping at the closed door to the interview room.

"All right then." Hal said.

"He's in here." he told her.

He then opened the door and gestured for her to enter.

"Ladies and bosses first." he smirked.

"Truth be told, ASAP." Hal responded.

"He's actually here right now." he said.

"Granted, if later is better, I can tell him to come back then, but he showed up here and... well... he's here." he shrugged.

"So if you want to ditch that paperwork for a few minutes, come on with me." he smirked.

He knew she'd take any excuse.

Hal just shrugged.

"Yeah, pretty quick." he agreed.

"Candidate is actually a Ramaarin." he informed Sydney.

"And looks pretty capable." he went on.

"But... you tend to be a better judge of character when it comes to certain aspects." he continued.

"So I'd like your first impressions of them."

The dark-skinned male closed the door behind him, and nodded at her.

"It's about the formation of the NA branch of The Unit." he said.

Special Unit 3, or 'The Unit' as a codename, was a project that both the Triad and the Council were working on. It would essentially be a shadow branch of the government specializing in policing matters that mortals either had no control over, or didn't even know existed. There wasn't already a branch because nobody was willing to take on the massive responsibility of heading it.

Until Hal.

"We have a candidate for head of security/lead security for it." he went on.

"But you need to be present for the interview and evaluation of said candidate."

"......" Jake was silent for a moment, as the door was closed, leaving him alone in the cabin.

"Allee..." he said quietly.

He then gritted his teeth, stood up, and nodded to himself.

"Time for me to go, then." he mumbled.

-Some time later-

Sydney was sitting at her desk at the Triad, doing Triad work... which she hated. But she had to do it at SOME point.

However, it seemed she would be given a brief reprieve, when she heard a knock on her office door.

"Sydney?" she heard a familiar male voice call in.

"It's Hal. Can we talk?" the voice asked.

"............." Jake was silent as Allee said what she did.

"A... reprieve..." he said.

"And... you used my given Ramaarin name." he went on, the fact that she did so hitting him suddenly.

"I... nobody else has been able to do that." he went on.

"You... truly ARE something special, aren't you?" he then asked.

Ryker watched Eke do all this, and nodded when he returned.

"Good amount of it." he said.

"......." he was then silent, and sighed.

"And I know you said you don't want the other me getting their hands on more of that stuff, and I agree.' he continued.

"However, he HAS been telling me that he knows someone that can work with it." he told him.

"Ah, wait!" Jake called suddenly.

"Be... before you go..." he said.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"And... is there anything I can do for you?" he asked further.

"What you've just done for me is more than I can ever explain... please, there has to be some way for me to repay you." he went on.

"Anything at all?" he asked further.
