"Not really." Jake replied.

"Maybe a few things here and there, but I've never listened." he admitted.

"But Sydney's told me about you." he said.

"She's also said how if I'm caught being nice to you, there will be consequences for you." he went on.

"So let's keep this meeting a secret, all right?" he asked with a small smile.

"I am." Jake responded.

"Fairly new. Name's Jake.'' he introduced himself.

"Sydney brought me here to the guild." he went on.

"Saved me from being homeless and on the run." he said further, before something hit him.

"...Cassandra?" he then asked.

"As in, Cassandra Argento?" he asked further, seeking clarification.

"...eh?" Jake muttered.

He then sighed, and grabbed some seaweed-like plants that were growing nearby. He started to clean the blood up with some of them, while wrapping the wound with some others.

"You are?" he asked.

"But why?" he asked her.

"Who would send a child to almost certain death here?"

Again, Ryker was silent for a moment.

"Hm." he mumbled.

He then sighed, and made his way over towards Eke, laying down beside him on the bed.

"........." he looked like he wanted to say something, but didn't.

'...why do I get the feeling you're hiding something?" he asked mentally.

Ryker looked over towards Eke when he saw him bury his face in the pillow that was there.

"Hey." he said.

"You sure you're all right?" he asked.

"You look like something is seriously bothering you." he commented further, concern in his tone.

"Did something happen?"

".........." Jake was silent as he saw this, before sighing.

A few seconds later, the creature emerged from under the water, and crawled up onto the shore of the pond. It looked over towards the girl, and seemed to almost smirk.

It then lunged straight for her, mouth wide open, but the girl suddenly saw that someone had gotten in the way, and had grabbed the creature by its mouth, twisting it suddenly and slamming it onto its back in a deft swift motion.

"Hmph." he muttered, as the creature rocked back and forth, stuck on the back of its shell. The man then sighed, before giving it a swift kick, rolling it back into the water.

"....you need medical help." he then said to the girl.

"Eh?" Jake muttered.

"Sounds like a tussle going on." he said to himself.

'But... what kind of fight....?' he then wondered.

Curiosity got the better of him, and he picked up his pace.

He had to see what was going on there, and almost immediately, he saw one of the denizens of the pond that he'd taken to swimming in. It looked like a cross between an alligator and a turtle, but it was deceptively quick.

But what was it fighting against?

"Hm." Jake muttered, a little confused by what she meant by her statement... but he figured that this was not the time, nor the place to ask.

"All right." he said.

"That's a good idea." he agreed, getting to his feet as well.

"I do hope there's a lot of meat." he then added.

Again, Jake sighed.

"Even more unfortunate." he said.

"I can't bear to think of a parent mistreating their child." he said further.

"I was always taught that children are to be revered and nurtured, as they are the future." he went on.

"Guess humans don't think the same way as Ramaarin." he sighed.

"All right, sure." Ryker responded.

"You go do whatever you need to." he said.

"I'm going to lay down on the other bed here." he told him.

He then sighed and made his way to said bed, laying down on it and stretching out.

"Mmm, comfy." he murmured.

"......................" Jake was silent as he heard that.

"Ah... I..." he stammered, before sighing heavily.

"I see." he said.

"That's... an unfortunate situation, if I may understate it." he commented.

"If I run into her, I'll try and make our meeting secret." he then assured Sydney.

"...already I feel bad for the poor girl, though." he admitted.

"....eh?" Jake asked.

"Er... why?" he asked her.

He was then silent for a moment, wondering what was so bad about the daughter.

Was she a brat? Was she dangerous? Was her father overprotective of her? Was this something else entirely?

"....should I be scared of her?" he then asked her further.

"Odds are it will be." Jake replied.

"Any other warnings about this place, though?" he then asked her.

"Like, any people here to watch out for, or anything that's not to be done, or anything like that?" he asked her further.

"Just so I fit in more easily, I guess." he reasoned with a shrug.

"If not, I'll pick it up as I go."

Jake nodded in response.

"No to the first part of that question." he said.

He then dug in his pocket, and took out a large coin. One side had the guild crest on it, and the other side had the words 'revertetur in terram suam*' engraved on it.

"He gave m this." he then told her.

"Told me I just need to squeeze it in my hand, think of the guild, and I'll be teleported here." he said further.
