As she walked, the people around her seemed to be minding their own business, and nothing seemed to be outside of the ordinary... save for what looked to be a beggar in a ragged cloak sitting on the sidewalk at the entrance to an alley.

They didn't seem to be asking anyone for anything, or even looking up at the people that passed them... until Desiree started to walk past them.

"Hey." they said.

"You look familiar." they commented.

"I do believe you have quite a name for yourself, little Miss." they then added.

"....." Ryker was silent for a moment, before sighing.

"Just because I didn't get a proper education, doesn't mean I'm not perceptive." he said.

"I know when someone is hiding pain." he told him. "I've seen many a person hide behind a smile." he went on.

"I can guess what you're thinking... and from what you told me, I can guess why you're thinking it." he continued.

"You don't have to tell me anything, but do know that I can tell you keep a lot bottled up inside."

Immediately, some orderlies were tending to her, getting her ready.

"Get this woman to the OR!" one ordered.

"Get a surgeon prepped!" another said further.

"Doctor Calder is available." she heard another tell them.

"Well, tell him this woman needs him, STAT!" one of the first ones replied. "She has severe wounds, and possibly has internal bleeding!"

The next thing the drow knew, his entire world was black, and the life slipped away from his body.

His body then started to become one with the earth again, as is what happened when any elf died.

However, Demi still had reasons for worry and concern, though.

She, herself, needed to get to a hospital, as she was still wounded from the fight.

Also, she noticed that a crimson red mist was starting to emanate from where the body was... and she knew what that meant. She had to make haste before she inhaled enough of the lethal poison it contained.

'Damn it, no!' she heard in her mind.

'I command you! Take me to where I can be healed!' he ordered.

But, even though she felt some poking at her brain to do so, it wasn't as compelling as the drow would have liked.

He coughed again, and the mana weakened even more, before the ones that were piercing her started to fade from existence.

'No, no, no, no, NO!' the drow screamed mentally, before he couldn't even physically hold himself up... so he fell to his stomach.

'I can command you to save me.' he responded.

'I can force you to take me somewhere to be saved and healed.' he told her further.

'And there, I will control all the others!' he continued, as his influence grew stronger inside her.

'From there, I will extend my control! I will control the entire populace!' he then said further.

'The world will learn why we drows are to be FEARED AND RESPECTED!' he finished, before there was a massive pulse of mana within her, and she felt herself fall completely under his control.

'There... now... take me to where I can be-' he started to order her, before his hold broke, and the mana within her severely weakened... as he started to violently cough up blood.

Ryker looked into Eke's eyes, before averting his gaze slightly.

".......don't mention it." he said.

"It's not that... I dislike company, as I said before." he told him. "It's just that most company has a tendency to either end up dead, or running away, hating and/or fearing me." he explained.

"So... I usually walk a lonely road." he told him further. "It's really the only kind I've ever known." he went on.

"Then again, such is usually the lot of a slave boy."

Once the tendrils were in her, they had a mental connection.

'Shut up.' he replied.

'I will show you that we drows get what we want.' he told her.

'I will prove to you our superiority!' he then declared.

With that, she felt the mana in her start to spread inside her, trying desperately to wrest control away from her.

'And you will pay for your insolence!'

"I've seen that." Ryker commented.

"I don't have those useful features." he said.

"So I have to make do." he muttered.

"And it's not THAT far." he then told him.

"I've walked for an entire day before I reached a town once." he said.

"Almost got run out the next day, but still." he mumbled further.

The drow choked and coughed in response, before Demi felt the ground start to rumble underneath her.

A few seconds after it started, dozens of the red tendrils came out of the earth, and towered above her.

They paused for a brief moment, before some of them started to pierce straight for her... while others started to flail about close to her, while outer ones started to build up another dome... this one stronger than before.

It seemed this drow was NOT giving up... it was a matter of pride, now.

The elf froze where he was when the blade slashed him again.

"A... ah..." he sputtered, the words barely audible.

"A... ack... a-ah..." he stuttered further, before collapsing to his knees, and then to his hands.

He coughed and sputtered again, as he started to shake and quiver.

It was clear that Demi had delivered a very serious blow to him.

He winced in pain as he felt the blade pierce him, but stood his ground.

The tendrils then swirled around both himself and Demitra, as they started to form a dome.

"You little..." he growled.

"You think you're all that, just because you can fight, eh?" he asked.

"Well, good. You'll make for good entertainment." he said further, as the dome closed in.

"Depends on if we have the luck." Ryker responded.

"And see that town in the distance?" he asked, pointing forward to what looked to be a tiny collection of houses.

"That's it." he said.

"It's about an hour's walk away." he told him.

"They'll have all we need."

"Sunny days are getting less common lately." Ryker commented.

"And yeah, some more stuff for you." he said, not elaborating on it.

"Also, that was a Giant Sparkling Gourami." he then answered Eke's question.

"It's a rare fish, in the sense that few people can catch it. It's elusive and valuable in a number of ways." he continued. 'Its scales can be used for adornments on high class clothing, they can be ground into shining dust and used as a seasoning, some sects of people just use them as straight currency." he explained.

"The meat is extremely nutritious, and filled with vitamins as well." he then added.
