"Yup!" Pierre replied.

"Kid looks like he's got the spunk and fortitude." he said.

"So I say go for it." he told her.

He was then silent, before sighing.

"But to make it official..." he muttered, trailing off some.

"I vote to let the trial commence." he said formally.

"If I was scared of something like death, I would be a recluse." Jaden countered.

"Kid's got a point." Pierre said.

"You sure you're ready for this?" he asked.

"As ready as I'll ever be." Jaden told them.

"These women are anything BUT ordinary." Jaden responded.

"They live as they please, provide for themselves, and live fully independent lives." he said.

"Hah!" Pierre laughed.

"Sounds like MY kinda girls!" he exclaimed.

"Regardless, yeah, as Lee here said, we need to test you out, see if you got what it takes to be an assassin for the Triad." he told Jaden.

"I am prepared." Jaden responded.

Jaden sighed as he put his shirt back down, and turned to face them.

"Well, not alone." he said.

"Thankfully, someone came to my aide, and took me in, where I was raised by her and her mother, essentially." he told them.

"Oh?" Pierre asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Who?" he asked further.

".............." Jaden was silent as he heard the question, before sighing deeply.

"A pair of accomplished sword-wielders, that trained me and honed my skills."

Jaden was silent as he heard that.

"I see." he replied.

"That is fair." he said.

"By the way, got any proof of surviving an encounter with them Hunters?" Pierre asked.

Jaden just responded by turning around, and showing them the cruel mark on his back.

"....yep, that'd do it." Pierre replied.

"It's impressive you've managed to survive in this world with that." he commented.

Pierre just laughed out loud when the two women had their exchange.

"Ya do what ya gotta do." he said.

"All right, kid." he then said to Jaden.

"Your blade skills may or may not be real, but tell me... ya got any sort of history in dealing with fighting, or conflict, or that sorta thing?" he asked.

Jaden was silent for a moment, before nodding.

"Yes." he replied.

"Many years ago, I survived an encounter with those known as the Blight Hunters." he told them.

Pierre was silent as he heard this, and raised an eyebrow.

"That so..." he mumbled, his tone a little on the sceptical side. Which was justified, seeing as Blight Hunters were known to be a ruthless group.

Pierre just huffed a short breath.

"I speak how I want, you speak how YOU want." he told the dryad.

"Right, then." he then said, looking at Jaden.

"Why do you want the job?" he asked him.

"Simply put, because I want to put my blade skills to constructive use." Jaden responded. "And being a hunter really isn't something that calls out to me." he admitted further.

"Heh." Pierre chuckled.

"You're honest, kid. I like that." he said.

After about a minute, and before Jaden could say anything, a muscular man with stubble on his face and ruffled short brown hair stepped into the room.

"All right!" he said.

"You the one askin' about the assassin job?" he asked Jaden.

"I am." Jaden replied.

"Then let's get this started." the man then said, before going and sitting down beside Sydney and the other female.

Jaden nodded.

"I am." he replied.

"As ready as I'll ever be." he told her.

He then took a deep breath, exhaled, and repeated.

"Yeah." he said.

"Let's go." he told her.

"I see." Jaden replied.

"Well... that does make sense." he said.

"Who are these other two?" he asked.

"Can you tell me anything about them?" he asked further.

"Or is not knowing until I see them part of the interview process...?"

After a few minutes of waiting, she heard knocking at the door.

"Hello?" she heard her son call in.

"I was told to come here about the position of assassin?" he asked.

When the door was opened, he froze once more.

"Wait, what?" he asked.

"Mom!?" he exclaimed.

"Wait... wait, YOU'RE the one in charge here?" he asked her further.

Jaden accepted the card, and looked at it.

"Oh, all right." he replied.

"Thank you." he said.

"I guess I should go check up on th-" he started to say, before his stomach growled.

"Oh..." he muttered.

"Right." he said.

"I'm hungry." he remembered, a sheepish tone to his voice.

"N-no." he replied.

"And I'm not doing anything with my life." he then admitted.

"Actually, I want to go to the Triad." he told her.

"See if they have an assassin position up for grabs."

"I was living with Demitra and her mother, Racquel." Jaden replied.

"I mean... I didn't think you were alive." he said.

"And... well... you have been going by a different name..." he went on.

"Anyway, Demitra saved my life when I was on the run, brought me to her home, where she and her mother took care of me, and showed me how to survive." he told her.
