She made her way to the office, meeting nobody along the way.
However, when she DID reach the office, she heard an alarm going off.
But it wasn't an alarm for the entire building. It sounded like an alarm for the office, itself.
She'd made it clear that her intent was Sharp, and his office, so it seemed like Jake had triggered an alarm specifically for that scenario.
However... as she did step into the office, it jammed.
She saw the secretary was there, and she looked quite distressed and frightened right now.

Jake froze when she said and did what she said and did.
He then watched her walk past him, before trying to sound the alarm... only to find it was jammed.
"What the!?" he exclaimed.
"Who are you!?" he asked.
"What do you want with the boss!?"

Jake was silent, but the fear was running through his veins.
He felt the coldness of the grave upon him... and felt like his life was in danger here.
"I..." he stammered.
"I..." he repeated.
His face then paled, but he shook his head.
"Do what you will." he said.
"My spirit will not break!" he told her determinedly.

Jake was instantly on high alert.
"Excuse me?" he asked.
"Who is in charge?" he asked her.
"Agent Sharp." he said.
"Now what did you do?" he asked her.
"How have you jammed the mechanism?"
"Excuse me?" he asked.

Jake looked at Rylie, and narrowed his eyes.
"...is that a threat?" he asked.
"As it stands, you are a security unknown." he told her.
"You being with an established and trusted member is not enough any longer... and that statement you just made is NOT helping." he said.
"Unless you state your name, intention, and business here, you will NOT be let in."

"Hm." Azazel muttered.
"Fair enough." he said, as they made their way to the front door.
Once there, the security guard stopped them.
"Halt." Jake said.
"The woman with you." he said to Azazel.
"Name, and business here." he went on.
"Due to the recent minor breach of security, we're tightening down on things here." he said.
"Oh... right." Azazel mumbled.

"Eh?" Azazel muttered.
"Say what?" he asked.
"What do you mean?" he asked her.
"You'll be safe in here, there's shelter, and special services." he said.
"And they can help with the bike." he told her further.
"Getting you a new one, claiming insurance, and all that."

The rest of the drive was filled with some small talk, but it was mostly silence.
Azazel smiled though, when they pulled into the parking lot of an impressive office-like building.
"And we're here." he said.
"All right, need to get Aedan." he muttered.
"Get her to the med bay for an emergency detox flushing, essentially."

Azazel just sighed.
"Well... I suppose it's whatever you make of it, really." he said.
"I mean, look at me." he went on. "If there were fewer demons in this world, mankind would certainly have a more stress-free existence." he reasoned.
"...sometimes I think that would be best, seeing as my contemporaries are... well... you know how they are." he muttered, shaking his head a little.
"Regardless, I, too, have felt the loneliness that you describe." he admitted.
"And while there technically aren't any other demons at the Unit, I've actually never felt alone since going there." he told her further, before pausing.
"Yes, I said 'technically'." he confirmed. "It's... a weird situation, that I'm probably not at liberty to discuss so openly and casually." he finished.

"Well, California IS a nice place." Azazel admitted.
"And it's good to see you again." he told her.
"Seriously, I've been wondering how you were doing, what was up, and all that." he said further.
"Still keeping in touch with Gregory?" he asked.
"I mean, now that you're on the same continent that he works on, you must be speaking with him more, yeah?" he asked further.
"Just out of curiosity, of course." he then added.

Azazel sighed again.
"Hope so..." he mumbled.
"Regardless, how have you been?" he asked.
"Last I saw you, you were in Europe." he told her.
"What are you doing on THIS continent?" he asked her.
"More general wanderlust, or something specific?"
"Hope so..." he mumbled.

Azazel was silent for a moment, his eyes widening, before he sighed.
"Know what?" he asked rhetorically.
"Yes." he said.
"Yes, I believe I have." he confirmed.
"Aedan and I... well... we have a special understanding, I suppose." he told her.
"And I wouldn't want to lose that. It'd be worse than hell."

Azazel got into the driver's seat, shut the door, and buckled in.
"Few hours." he told her.
"Enough time to catch up." he chuckled, pulling out of the parking spot, and driving away.
"And that is a massive relief." he then said, finally allowing himself to look worried.
"I don't want to lose her..." he told her.
"I... really wouldn't... take that well..." he mumbled further.
