Jackson continued to beat down on those that were swarming him... and he seemed to actually be winning. More and more of them were falling, either fully or partially petrified... until 5 more showed up, wearing what looked to be like special mesh.

"These suits will stop your little petrification powers from affecting us." one said.

"And that box will keep your little ghost friend from interfering." another said further.

"What!?" Jackson exclaimed.

"It helps to have information on your enemy." one responded, before they swarmed him once more.

Jackson and men he was fighting stopped for a moment when they heard a couple of the other ones screaming.

"What!?" one asked.

".....Sierra?" Jackson muttered.

"NOW!" one of them yelled.

Suddenly, a small box was placed on the floor, and a button was pressed.

Instantly, Sierra felt her being course with electricity. It hurt her, and it pushed her back, until she was forced out of the room... and couldn't make her way back in.

As she ran through the halls, she noticed that there was damage everywhere, and the sounds of fighting everywhere.

However, she saw something that was both a relief... and horrifying.

Statues. Statues of soldiers were littered everywhere, here and there... which meant that Jackson was around, using his mutant powers on them.

One one hand, it was good. It seemed he was really helping the cause.

But... he wasn't in one of the shelters.

The man let out one last gasp of air... before he collapsed to the floor.

As he did, the grenades landed on the floor in such a way, that their triggers had been set.

Which caused massive explosions to rock the room, causing debris to fall everywhere.

As soon as that happened, she heard and felt more rocking and tremors from all around.

This was truly an all-out attack on the place.

Both alumni... AND structural.

The man froze where he was.

He was shaking and quivering still, and trying his best not to breathe.

'No...' he thought.

'No, no, no!' he panicked mentally.

'I was just following orders!' he screamed internally, as he felt himself reaching his limit for how long he could hold his breath. His panic wasn't helping much in that regard.

One by one, the soldiers were shot down, until there was one left.

He was shaking visibly, and backing up, waving his firearm around.

"Stay back!" he yelled.

"Don't come near me!" he said.

"I'm warning you...!" he went on, before reaching into his jacket and taking out a few grenades.

"I'LL BLOW THIS WHOLE ROOM DOWN!" he shouted.

The commander seemed to collapse to the floor in a comatose state, while the two soldiers started to yell out.

The rest of them responded by aiming their guns at them.

And then firing upon them.

The men were riddled with the bullets, before they collapsed to the floor, dead.

However, the rest of them continued to fire blindly in her general direction.

"AH!?" he exclaimed.

"Sir!? What's wrong!?" one of the followers asked.

"GAAAH!" the leader yelled.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" he screamed.

"GET OUT OF MY HEAD, FREAK!"

The one in charge just burst out laughing.

"How amusing!" he shouted.

"But very well!" he said.

"Sir?" one of his followers asked.

"I'm curious as to what she thinks this will accomplish." the commander responded.

"Fire at will." he ordered.

Those that were there just shrugged, aimed their weapons at her... and then all fired at her.

What she saw was a group of about 10 invaders... all armed with similar weapons to before, and all of them in garb that said they were going to war.

One of them then stepped forwards, clearly in charge.

"Hm?" he mumbled.

"One?" he asked.

"They think one girl can stop us?" he chuckled.

"Or are you resigning yourself to fate and throwing your life away?" he then asked her.

The student was silent as Sierra said what she did.

"I..." they said.

They then bit their lip slightly.

"Yeah..." they muttered.

"If I see him again..." they said quietly.

"........" they were then silent, before they turned and ran, and Sierra could hear a sadness in their voice.

Which was when she heard some others behind her.

"Wasn't Jackson supposed to be here already!?" someone asked, before she heard the heavy shelter door start to close.
Posted in Changing the Future Posted 7 years ago
The other student nodded.

"Yes." they replied.

"That's correct." they said.

The three of them then started to run down the path given to them, but they heard footsteps behind them.

A lot of footsteps.

Heavy footsteps.

As though an army were right on their heels.

The one that had been hiding was clearly still scared and cowering, but they eventually came out.

And when they did, they latched onto Sierra tightly.

"Come on." the student said.

"There's nurses at the shelter areas." they told her.

"One needs to look at your injury." they reasoned, looking around.

"And we seem to be running very low on time..."

The man looked to be shocked and stunned for a moment, before he let out a screech of unearthly agony... and then he collapsed forward. Still. Silent.

".....wow." the student said.

"That was... creepy." they commented.

"Are you all right?" they then asked her.
