Darrell was silent, and just looked away.

"I see." he replied.

"I... I got everything I wanted." he told her.

"I think." he said.

"I mean, I can't think of anything else right now." he went on.

Though that was probably because all he COULD think about were his parents.

And his expression showed it.

"Yeah!?" she then heard after a few seconds.

His footsteps were heard... hurriedly so... and he appeared before her shortly.

"Hi." he greeted her.

"I grabbed some stuff and put it in the room I usually use." he told her.

"Are Mom and Dad okay?" he asked.

"What about Kalin? Is SHE okay?" he asked further.

I'll make a note of that. Rene responded.

And I'll keep you posted on major updates. the next text read.

And with that, she got no more texts from him. Odds were he was now devoting his full attention and energy to Desiree and Jaden.

But it didn't change one thing.

There had been an attempt on her son, and daughter-in-law. And her grandson was now scared, and there was a chance of him going without parents.

It had officially gotten personal.

Darrell accepted the small orb of mana, and nodded.

"I do." he replied.

"I know where the secret mechanism is to activate and let me out." he told her.

"Good." Sydney replied.

"GO." she ordered.

Darrell jumped a little and raced through the portal, moments before Sydney closed it... just as she got a text from Rene.

Chances of them making it look to be 50/50. Doing all I can to increase that number by ANY amount. it read.

Darrell shook his head.

"No." he said, before pausing.

"Um... maybe my laptop." he then corrected himself.

"...and some clothes." he added.

"But that's it." he told her.

"I just... I..." he stammered further, shaking his head slightly.

"I want Mom and Dad to be okay." he said quietly.

Darrell bit his lip slightly.

"What... what do we do now?" he asked.

"What should -I- do?" he asked her.

"Am I safe?" he asked further, and she could tell he was scared.

His parents were in bad shape, and he was concerned for his own life.

He had no idea what to do here, or where to go from here.

"....." Darrell was silent for a moment, before looking into her eyes, his own welling up with tears.

"O-okay." he said.

"What... what's happening?" he asked.

"Why did this happen?" he asked her.

"Mom and Dad don't hurt anyone." he then said further.

"So why is someone trying to kill them?"

Darrell's eyes widened a little when he heard that.

He hastily unlocked the door and swung it open, revealing his grandmother.

Because anything more could be said, he threw himself into her, and wrapped his arms around her.

"Grandma..." he said, sobbing.

"What's going on?' he asked.

"Are Mom and Dad okay?"

Rene was a bit stunned when Sydney made her declaration/threat.

He then shook his head and disappeared with Jaden and Desiree.

Meanwhile, in Kalin's office, Darrell was still in there, his ear pressed against the door.

He was trying to hear something.

Anything.

He wanted to know what was happening.

Rene's eyes widened.

"No..." he whispered.

"KALIN!" he exclaimed.

"They need to get to the hospital! NOW!" he yelled.

"Bring Jaden to me!" he went on.

"Time is a factor! They might die if this isn't done quickly!"

Rene watched as Kalin went for Jaden, before making his way to Desiree.

"Desiree!" he exclaimed.

"How do you feel?" he asked.

"Describe it to me." he said further.

In the back of his mind, he was VERY confused.

Kalin had not been able to blow the gas away. Why? She had wind mana.

Was something wrong?

Darrell was silent as the phone call ended, and he just looked at the closed door.

"Mom... Dad..." he whispered quietly, fearing for their safety.

Meanwhile, the bouncers and security were doing all they could to try and evacuate people, and keep them from climbing up on stage to get to Desiree and Jaden. They were succeeding at the latter, at least.

Rene was there as well, pausing at the gas, and gritting his teeth.

"Damn it, something's off with that crap." he growled.

"Kalin, can you use your wind to blow this shit away!?" he called to Kalin.

"G-Grandma." Darrell stammered.

"There's been an attack." he told her.

"Dad was shot. And then there was gas. And I think Mom was shot, too." he went on.

"This... this was a targetted attack." he continued.

"Kalin's trying to help, but I don't know what that gas is going to do. She might need help.' he then said.

"Actually, we need help." he clarified.

"I think you're the only one that can do anything right now. Please?" he practically begged.

Darrell hadn't had a chance to say anything to Kalin, before she said what she did, gave him the card, hugged him, and sent him on his way. He looked back towards the stage, now obscured with gas, and bit his lip, before going to Kalin's office.

He used the card and got inside, before looking at his phone.

"....." he was silent, before finding the number for the one he immediately thought of.

If anyone could help, they can.

So he dialled their number and waited for them to answer.
