"Heh." Ryker chuckled.

"I getcha." he said.

"Trust me, I understand." he said further.

"We'll find a place." he assured him.

"Anyway!" he then continued.

"Enjoying yourself so far?" he asked.

Jaden caught it and put it pack on the little table, before shaking his head.

"All right." he said.

"I won't argue." he muttered.

With that, he proceeded to make the order, getting some extras, like sides and desserts and drinks, before hanging up the phone and sighing quietly.

"It'll be here within an hour." he told her.

"Anyway." he then said.

"What made you want to be a magician in the first place?" he asked, making conversation.

".........." Jaden was silent as Desiree said what she did.

"Wha...?" he asked.

"I... I didn't make my offer, thinking you had to pay for it." he said.

"That would have been... kinda dickish of me, to be honest..." he admitted.

"..." he then paused for a moment, and sighed.

"But I get the distinct feeling I'm not going to win this argument." he said. "Am I?" he asked her.

He then grabbed a small notepad and pen, and wrote his email address on it, lightly tossing it towards her.

"Cool." Jaden replied.

"Mushroom it is." he said, accepting the menu.

"As for me, I'll probably get the spaghetti. Simple and good." he told her.

"Want any sides?" he asked.

"Garlic bread, or anything else?" he asked further.

"Oh, and drinks?"

Jaden just laughed a little.

"Means I can still get away with my act." he told her.

"Even mages, while knowing mana is involved, usually don't go to portal magic as an answer." he explained.

"SO much fun." he then snickered.

"Anyway, what do I recommend?" he asked.

"Well, their mushroom carbonara is amazing." he said. "They have a really good penne bake." he went on.

"And yes, their spaghetti and lasagne are both good as well." he then told her.

"Basically, anything on that menu is good, but what I mentioned really stand out."

Jaden nodded in response.

"I getcha." he told her.

He then waved his arm, and a couple of seconds later, a takeaway menu flitted down onto Desiree's lap from a hole in the ceiling that closed shortly after.

"Take a look." he said.

"That's the place I usually order from when I get Italian." he said further.

"Lemme know if you see something that tickles your tastebuds."

"Reality sucks." Ryker said.

"Plain and simple." he told him.

"You still want the sweater, though?" he then asked.

"I can easily stop somewhere for it." he offered.

"Probably find a place along the way."

Jaden caught the bud, and looked it over. He examined it closely, checking it over, and then looking a bit surprised.

"....huh." he said.

"Wow. It... really IS a hearing aide." he commented.

"That... is so cool." he continued, lightly tossing it back to her.

"Seriously. That's awesome. I've never seen anything like that before." he went on.

"Anyway, you said you want pasta?" he asked.

"I'll order some in... well, within the hour." he chuckled.

Jaden's eyes widened again.

"Ah-whu?" he mumbled.

"Deaf?" he asked.

"You need to read lips...?" he stammered, before shaking his head.

"Wait, wait, wait." he said.

"But you wear headphones. Or at least, you did, before they got busted." he commented.

"And you have earbuds." he went on.

"Those aren't hearing aides, so how do you use them?" he asked her.

"Oh, something just occurred to me." he said.

"I... something you said back in the bathroom." he said further.

"When you said for me to 'either get out and wait, or come in so you could actually see my face'..." he went on.

"Why the latter?" he asked.

"Why would that be necessary?" he asked further.

Jaden's eyes widened a little when he heard that.

"Ah... I..." he stammered.

"Oh... wow." he said.

"I... that..." he stammered further, before shaking his head.

"Right." he said further.

"Got it. No seafood." he repeated.

He then started to think about something... and seemed a little on the confused side.

Jaden paused for a moment.

"Eh?" he muttered.

"Ah... all right, then." he said.

"Good pasta? I can do that." he told her.

"But... no seafood?" he then asked.

"All right... not an issue... why, though?" he asked further.

Jaden was silent for a moment, before sighing quietly.

"All right." he said.

"Cool." he said further.

"And yeah, I know. Rene's amazing, but he's not some deity or anything." he agreed with her. "Still. He can do quite a bit." he muttered.

"Regardless, food." he then said, changing the topic.

"What do you want?" he asked.

"Feeling like having anything in particular?"

Ryker was silent, before placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Hey..." he said.

"Don't worry about it." he told him.

"It's okay." he continued.

"Don't get down on yourself."
