"............" Ryker was silent as Eke passed out.

He looked at him, before slumping down a little, and making sure Eke was comfortably positioned.

Once that was done, he looked at the souvenir tooth he'd broken off from the elder dragon, and then looked at his broken knuckles.

"...damn it." he cursed.

Then, while Eke slept, he grabbed a small slab of wood, laid it against his knuckles, and started binding it to his hand with cloth scraps they had.

Ryker just sat there and let Eke pull himself up close to him.

He leaned back against the tree he was near. and looked away from Eke.

He couldn't look at him now.

Not when he'd hurt him like this.

Not when he'd allowed him to get hurt in the first place, causing the situation.

Ryker wanted to speed up the process, but he also didn't want to mess up and cause even more problems for Eke.

So he just continued to close the wound, managing to tighten and close it completely, and making sure it wouldn't loosen or open again.

"....okay." he said.

"It's done." he told him.

"It's closed now."

"................" Ryker was silent for a long moment more, before gulping.

"...right." he said.

"Uh...right." he muttered.

He then took the thick thread, managed to get it through the eye of the needle, and looked at the wound that had opened up.

"........." he bit his lip, leaned in, and forced himself to stop shaking... before attempting to close the wound.

Ryker's eyes widened and his pupils shrank when he heard this.

"Ah... ah..." he stammered.

He then grew quiet, and just fumbled through the bag, before finding the sewing kit.

"I... I..." he stammered further, before shaking his head.

"Are... are you SURE this will be enough..." he asked Eke.

"Indeed." Lindsay replied.

"The next time Blair will be here is for an art therapy session in 4 days." he then said.

"I'll have a ride arranged to bring Blair here, while I personally take care of the ride back." he told Blair and their mother.

"I'll call tomorrow with the details of it." he went on.

"For now, I'll not hold you up any longer." he continued.

"I'll let you both get home." he finished, stepping out of the way so Blair could get their shoes on.

"Ah, excellent." Lindsay replied.

"I can arrange for rides to get Blair to their sessions with myself, as well as the art therapy sessions they have with my wife." he then offered.

"While those won't necessarily be personal rides, I do know I can arrange something. I assume that will be all right as well, as long as I let you both know what said ride will be?" he asked.

"Oh, huh." Evan responded, as he shifted a little, sliding out from under Kitt.

Kitt responded by making some disapproving noises.

"I'll be back in a few minutes." Evan told her.

That's when they heard Lindsay and Blair's mother speaking with each other, though their words could not be heard until they got closer, and even then, they just managed to hear the end of part of it.

"I assure you it's no inconvenience." Lindsay said to her.

"It'll take some of the stress off of yourself, at the very least." he reasoned.

Evan looked out the window as well, seeing the car.

"Well, I guess you'll be heading out." he said, before he noticed his father going to the door to greet her.

"Eh?" he muttered.

"Normally you're the one that goes right to meet her. Or goes outside to get in the car." he said further.

"Something different happening?" he asked.

'...was I wrong about being wrong? Is Dad going to confront her?' he then asked himself internally.

Evan nodded in response.

"Well, it's progress." he said.

"We keep it up, you'll be doing more than just passing." he went on.

"I know you said it's all you really wanted, but... well... perhaps we can bring it up a little bit more. At least have a nicer number on the report card." he reasoned.

"My uncle says that 'good enough' is a path to a dead end." he went on, referring to Ash.

"...but he tends to overdo certain things, so maybe that might not be as applicable here..." he then admitted quietly.

Again, Evan was silent.

'Wow... I was... WAY off base...' he thought.

'.......now I feel like a heel...' he thought further, slumping back into the couch.

"I... I see." he said.

"I... well... I suppose every little bit helps..." he mumbled.

"Oh, how's your Biology going?" he asked.

"Been making any improvements?" he asked further.

Evan bit his lip slightly when he heard that.

"Part-time job?" he asked.

"...as what?" he asked Blair. "What do you do?" he asked further.

'...his mother works that hard?' he thought.

'Maybe... maybe I was all wrong, earlier...'

Ryker stood standing for a moment, at least until the dragon disappearing.

"GAAAAH!" he then yelled out, collapsing to his knees and grasping at his broken and bleeding knuckles.

"DAMN IIIIIIIT!" he yelled further, before growling to himself.

He picked up the tooth that had broken off and shoved it in his belt, before the energy dissipated, and he returned to normal.

At which point, he looked over towards Eke, and rushed towards him.

"EKE!" he exclaimed.

"........" Evan was silent as Blair said that, his ears twitching slightly.

"She works a lot, huh?" he asked.

"That's gotta suck." he said.

"Just... hm. Yeah." he muttered.

"Don't... really know what to say beyond that..." he admitted quietly.
