"Huh." Ash muttered.

"That's pretty cool." he said.

"Right then." he went on.

"The sooner I make the wish, the better." he reasoned.

He then leaned forward, and seemed to be concentrating hard.

"Hmmmm...." he mumbled.

"Mmmm.... mmhmmmmm..." he muttered further.

"Hey... Kylie?" he then addressed her.

"You can see into the future, right?" he asked.

"If so, how far?" he asked further.

"Heh." Ash chuckled.

"Well, see, thing is, overall, my life's good." he told her.

"And I wouldn't change anything about it." he said.

"Sure, some things aren't optimal, but perfection doesn't exist." he continued.

"And, yeah, I've been taught about the butterfly effect, and how even the kindest of deeds done with the noblest of intentions can make things even worse." he told her.

"Road to hell, etc. etc." he murmured.

"But the more I think about it... yeah, I should be ready to make the wish tonight." he said.

"You got a safe place to be after I make it?" he asked her.

"I know." Ash replied.

"But I realize that there is a delicate balance to time and space." he said.

"I need to make sure my wish doesn't disrupt anything major." he went on.

"Unintended rippling consequences can ruin a reality." he muttered.

"Regardless, I just have to narrow down a few options, and you can be on your way." he continued.

"...actually, I should have my decision tonight." he then added.

"....yeah." Ash replied.

"I have." he said.

"Speaking with a few people, getting their perspectives..." he went on.

"It's helped me narrow down some choices." he told her.

"I should be ready to make the actual wish very soon."

"Well, crap." Ash muttered.

"Hm." he mumbled.

"Well, I'll try and keep you safe." he told her.

"If not here, then at the guild." he went on.

"I promise."

"That's what I figured." Ash responded.

"Plus, it would be foolish of me to think that having the knowledge of this would be the answer to solving this war between you and the shifters." he went on.

He then sighed and shook his head a little.

"Damn." he muttered.

"But how the hell did they know?" he then asked.

"I'm sure I kept your presence here secret enough..." he said.

"Ugh." Ash grunted.

"I hate that sort of thing." he said.

"Feuding because it's 'something we've always done'." he mumbled further.

"Well, I'm pretty sure you're safe here." he told Kylie.

"The barriers here are pretty damn strong." he assured the fae.

"....wait..." he then said.

"If you don't know the cause of this feud... and I asked to know what started it all in the first place... could you do that, or is that where the limits start to show up?" he asked her.

"....yeah." Ash replied.

"Yeah, you should be." he said.

"We have barriers up around this place." he reasoned.

"They shouldn't allow it in." he told her further.

"Hm." he then muttered.

"So shifters don't like fae?" he asked.

"Admittedly, this is the first I'm hearing of this."

Ash just shook his head.

"We may have troubles." he said.

"Big troubles." he told her.

"Someone approached me, knowing about you, and wants you dead." he said further.

"...they were a shifter."

".....damn it." Ash cursed, before looking around.

"A shifter." he growled, before dashing off, finding a place where nobody could see him.

He then vanished in a burst of black fire, appearing in the backyard of the Fyrane manor.

He then rushed inside, looking around.

"Yo!" he called in.

"Anybody home!?" he asked.

"It was the PEOPLE that nearly tore the world apart." Ash retorted.

"And no." he said.

"I refuse to tell you where she is." he told the imposter.

"So you can go screw off." he growled.

"Y'hear me?" he asked.

"Or are we going to have... problems?"

"Hmph." Ash snorted.

"Nobody NEEDS to die." he said.

"...well, okay, that's kind of a lie..." he then admitted, sighing.

"I can think of a number of people, but that's beside the point." he went on.

"Now, it's clear that you're not Jaden." he then said further.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"You using a really impressive glamour, or... are you a shifter...?" he then asked further.

Ash narrowed his eyes when he heard the response.

"...this how it's gonna be, is it, Jaden?" he asked.

He then took out his cell phone, and brought it to his ear.

"...." he was silent, before holding his hand up, threatening to shoot black fire if the dhampir acted.

".....thanks, Jaden." he then said into the phone, before hanging up.

"Busted." he told the one in front of him.

".....the hell?" Ash muttered.

"Jaden!?" he exclaimed.

"Ok, the hell are you going on about?" he asked.

"You're not speaking like your usual self." he went on.

"Mind telling me where all this venom's coming from?" he then asked him.
