Posted in Does Your House Make Any Noises? Posted 5 years ago

I stay with my grandma rn so it's not my house, but yes, it's very noisy. To the point that I frequently get fooled into thinking she's come home while I am, in fact, still alone in the house. Lots of things going bump, pop, creak, and hiss around here, from "settling" to pipes to appliances. And of course there's the heat/air coming on from time to time, which is so loud I have to adjust my volume when listening to things. And while it's not technically the house making the noise, there's animals and trees outside that are always dropping walnuts and stuff, so the occasional sound of something hitting the wall, roof, or window is not unusual.

so like jeopardy

probably animals. I know a fair bit about those.

@Bonnie: Yeah, the only tip somebody who messed with my food is getting is "get ready fool" cause i ain't letting that slide.

Posted in Imagine being angry about vegetables. Posted 5 years ago

@Totalanimefan: That they do, and they are everywhere.

@Bonnie: Aye, people keep taking it to court or the news, yet I keep seeing new articles about it in my feed. Mistakes are one thing, but I've heard way too many stories about an employee doing it intentionally, and then people will be really dismissive about it and paint the customer as the troublemaker in the scenario for escalating after the fact. Except that tampering with people's food is a huge deal. Regardless of your opinions, not only is it your job to serve the food people order and keep those opinions to yourself, but there are people who have food allergies and can be seriously hurt if you pull shit like that. smfh

and honestly some people are really weird about it. It's good for you to eat veggies now and again but I've met a few who won't touch anything that doesn't have at least one meat or dairy product in it. You... you can eat vegetables. The vegan fairy isn't gonna come and turn you into a rabbit if your McSalad doesn't contain any chicken.

@Kitalpha Hart: That's nice tbh. I don't even tell my family what I do/don't eat any more 'cause they'll make a big deal about it, then proceed to act confused about why I didn't eat something I just got done telling them I don't/can't eat. =w=

Bad enough to see an adult throw a tantrum over having to eat their veggies, even worse when it's someone else's veggies they're mad about and they're not even the ones who are gonna eat em.
And yet people say vegans are pushy and loud about their diets. IRL experience has shown me a lot more of that "need to bring it up and remind you that you're eating wrong" attitude from meat eaters than I've ever gotten from vegans. I know the pushy vegans are out there, I've seen them too, but I've seen and experienced a lot more of that bs coming from the other end of the cow.
A company produces a single vegan option, not replacing any of the existing lineup, and people start boycotting and foaming at the mouth. Somebody orders said option and workers think it's ok to purposefully give them the wrong thing. Lots of general hate and trash talk floating around wherever you see the dreaded v word. And so on.
At least vegans have the excuse of having ethical concerns about people's diets.
It's just childishness and I needed to complain about it, y'all.

thoughts and experiences welcome.

Posted in soda Posted 5 years ago

Caffeine is definitely not the reason I don't drink soda ;v; All that sugar, especially with the vast majority being made of high fructose corn syrup and artificial colors and flavors. No thanks. I will, maybe a couple times a year, get a good quality soda if I can find one. I love the taste of cola and spicy ginger ale. In the meantime, if I want something fizzy (though I'm not super into fizzy drinks anyway), sparkling water will do just fine.

As for caffeine, I'm pretty sensitive to it so I don't think I have anything to worry about there. I never drink more than 2 cups of coffee a day as it is, and if/when I do drink soda, one is more than enough. I have had the rare energy drink, especially at previous jobs where they were accessible and I would need a boost to get through the day. I almost never buy them now, though, and try to find ones with more natural ingredients when I do.

Posted in Where are my furries at? Posted 5 years ago

I've always liked anthro designs. I grew up watching cartoons, reading picture books and fairy tales, etc and a huge chunk--if not the majority--of them had anthropomorphic animal characters. And being an animal lover from the beginning, I gravitated pretty heavily toward those designs. I didn't really start trying to draw human characters until middle school when the anime craze hit, then it was all about people with animal ears instead lol. I drifted away from anime and started getting back to my roots, so to speak, and spent a few years with the online furry fandom... only to ultimately end up feeling like I wasn't furry enough for the furry club. I still enjoy anthro designs, but I also like human and human-like designs, mythological creatures, monsters, etc. I don't differentiate based on how many recognizable animal features something has. A cool design is a cool design.
And yes, I sort of have a fursona or two, or a way of drawing myself in anthro form... but I haven't been on any furry-dedicated sites in a good while and don't really feel like I belong there.

Big, big, big things to note here: Children aren't a "consequence". Sex isn't something that needs to be shamed, punished, or "paid for" with unwanted outcomes. The way we talk about these things absolutely does have an effect on the way they are viewed and treated in society.

Yes, if you know that you completely lack access to both birth control and abortion services and you know that you are not ready or able to undergo pregnancy, it may be unwise to risk PIV sex.
Yes, even if you have access to birth control but the latter part of that statement still applies, PIV sex can still be risky, because birth control is not always 100% effective.

However, sex is a natural and healthy part of adult life and it serves many more functions than just reproduction. Birth control, abortion services, prenatal care, adoption services, and everything else related to reproductive health should be made accessible, just like any other normal part of healthcare. Same with comprehensive sex education.

In most cases, cheap or free birth control options do exist. Reproductive health clinics often have condoms available without cost, and they can be found for very little cost anywhere from gas stations to grocery stores. But they are not completely without risk of failure.

So being able to afford birth control isn't the only, or even the biggest, thing to take into consideration when making the decision to have sex. And I'm certainly not saying that people shouldn't be encouraged to consider the possibilities and weigh the risks; they absolutely should. But just telling someone "if you can't afford birth control, don't have sex" is reductive at best, and at worst, it perpetuates the attitude that "sex without planning for pregnancy should be punished".

In conclusion: Yes, by all means, consider your options and take precautions! But it's equally important for people to remember that no matter what they decide or what precautions they take, sometimes shit happens. There should not be shame and stigma attached to people wanting to have sex without wanting to get pregnant, and there should always be options available. Reducing the issue down to "just don't have sex then" increases the risks and number of issues from all angles due to lack of resources, options, support, and information.

@pachi: Yes, but I had the code saved to an email address i no longer have access to. :^(

@Runner Available: that sounds annoying.. I like what I've seen of krita so far though, aside from missing my shortcuts from sai.

Posted in Krita users: tips? Posted 5 years ago

@Tsundererra: That was what I was betting on. Unfortunately, it was a very old email address and I am completely locked out of it because the backup email it wants to send a verification code to doesn't even exist any more.

So I lost my old computer, and Sai along with it. RIP but I'm not about to pay for Sai again when there are so many free programs I haven't even tried. Long story short, I have Krita now and it's all strange and confusing to me.
Stuff I would particularly like to know is how to create a keyboard shortcut to undo my last brush stroke, how to clear a layer without deleting it, and how to make best use of the various stabilizing options.
But any tips, tricks, or basic explanations would be very helpful.
