Aly nodded in response.

"...yes." she said.

"We do." she agreed.

"...but what CAN we do?" she asked.

"Do any of us know anything about necromancy?" she asked him. "I don't. And I don't know anyone that does." she admitted, shaking her head some.

"What about you?" she asked.

"Do you have any ideas?"

They nodded in response.

"Got it." one said, as they made their way to Desiree.

"Ms. McCormick." one addressed her.

"We'd like you to come with us." he told her.

"Come with us. Do not tell anyone you're coming with us." he continued.

"Just come along quietly."

"...." one of the others was silent for a moment.

"Hm." he muttered.

"Indeed." he said.

"But she'll be completely mindless with THIS method." he countered.

"Plenty of time to get things done." he went on.

"Remember, she's also bait for the other one." he reminded her.

"Her partner in crime."

He nodded in response.

"I shall, indeed." he told her.

He then stepped away, and made his way back to the others.

"Success." he whispered.

"It's already worming its way inside her." he told them.

"This will seal the deal." he added.

"We just need to wait a LIIIIITTLE bit longer."

The one nodded in response.

"Right." he said, before taking it and approaching.

"Ms. McCormick?" he addressed her.

"Here." he said, handing her the scoop.

"Compliments of the employee, there." he added with a smile.

"Said that you brightened their day a little, and wanted to show appreciation." he continued.

"Seems you're a real ray of sunshine." he then said with a light chuckle, holding his tongue in his cheek and trying desperately to keep the act up.

"..........." Aly was silent, before returning the hug.

"I'm sorry, too." she apologised.

"I shouldn't have been so sensitive." she said further.

"It was clear that this was hurting you, and I shouldn't have acted like I did. This wasn't about me, and I needed to see that you needed just some time to mull things over in your own mind." she continued.

"I love you as well. So much." she then said.

"I was very worried about you, yes, but I did need to trust you. And I will trust you. More than I have been." she assured him.

"It's what we do for those we love, after all."

"....you're so barbaric." the one that had talked to Desiree replied.

"Seriously, are you as bad as the animals we hunt?" he asked.

"There's an art to what we do. Besides, if we bring her to the boss like this, we'll be rewarded." he went on, before pausing and sighing.

"And we're already in trouble for squandered resources in the past." he then mumbled.

"...we don't need to be lit into again for that. So we'll use as little as possible for this." he reasoned further.

"Remember, that stuff is hard for us to get ahold of."

"She has the smokey look in her eye." the first one whispered.

"Just give it time." they said.

"Seriously, let it work its magic. Soon she'll be under it completely." they finished.

One of them sighed.

"If you say so." they said, looking over at Desiree briefly.

"Oh, clearly." they replied.

"I need to speak to my associate about the details." they told her.

"Sorry for bothering you." they then apologised, before leaving her alone and making their way over to their comrade.

"Well?" they whispered.

"Give it time." they whispered back.

"It's in her system, and it's probably JUUUUST starting to take hold. We'll ask when she's ready to leave."

Ryker was silent, and nodded.

"Right." he said.

"See ya." he told Eke.

He then gave him a small wave, and left the room.

"....." Aly was silent, before sighing quietly.

"Yes, Eke?" she asked.

"What is it?"

'Heh.' they chuckled internally.

"I'm here as a representative of a club that's opening in the city." they told her.

"We need some big stars to attract people to the place." they continued.

"And your name is pretty big." they reasoned, before pausing.

"Would you consider performing there?" they asked. "Your shows are known for record numbers, and having you as an opening act would be a homerun of a grand opening."

"Let's move." one of the alley dwellers said to the other.

With that, the two of them quickly stepped inside. They looked at Desiree as she took a few more bites, smirking at how most of the top was gone.

One of them made their way to the new hire, while the other went to Desiree.

"Greetings." they said to her.

"But you wouldn't happen to be Desiree McCormick, would you?" they asked.

She then heard a couple of them chuckle to themselves.

"I know how to get her." one said.

"We were gonna use the lawyer as bait, but I have an idea." they added.

Shortly after, a couple of figures were hiding in an alley next to a little shop that Desiree liked to frequent.

"...you sure this'll work?" one whispered.

"Positive." the other said.

"People can't easily break out of their routines. She comes here about this time for some ice cream." they replied. "Even if it's a come-and-go, blink-and-you-miss-it visit, we'll be waiting, and strike."
