".....yep." Zeke responded.

"We need people that are resistant to death, and people with great strength." he told her.

"The former because they can survive the neck-snapping, and the latter to... actually destroy them." he went on, shaking his head a little.

"And we should tell Sharp about this." he told Aedan.

"Let him know what we've found out."

Zeke made the blade disappear again, and rose to his feet, before looking at Aedan.

"I wish I knew." he replied.

"Oftentimes, when people refer to The Blessed Sleep, they mean death's embrace." he told her. "But that's not what he said, specifically." he said further.

"He still seemed to be of sound mind, so I highly doubt he misspoke to such a degree..." he went on, scratching at his chin a little.

"So I don't think he's referring to some event that will interfere with the cycle of life and death..." he mumbled further.

"I'll have to go through some of my more... celestial... info channels to see if I can't find anything about that." he told her.

As Aedan said what she did, Zeke formed his sword in his hand once more.

"Which is to say, before I grant you a swift death, and end your suffering." he clarified.

"...I do." the man responded.

"All crave sweet blessed sleep. So few will receive it in the near future." he told them, before he started to look like he was going into violent convulsions.

Zeke responded to this by thrusting his blade through the man's chest, causing him to stop moving, slump forward slowly, and then dissipate into small glowing particles.

"Requiescat In Pace." Zeke said, kneeling down on one knee and gently driving the tip of the blade into the floor, in a small bit of prayer for the man's soul.

"I may not be acting like it, but I am in immense pain." the man replied.

"Immeasurable pain." he told her.

"The only reason I'm not screaming in agony right now is... well... quite frankly, I don't have the energy to." he said frankly.

"So when Azazel smashed those two with a sledgehammer..." Zeke started to say, trailing off at the end.

"...that's like a painless mercy killing for us." the man confirmed.

"Very well." Zeke replied.

And so they did. They spoke with the man, and he spoke back. He answered their questions, but only gave out so much info. It was enough for them to learn quite a bit, though.

"...so Vanessa Encrae did this to you, because you were a failed test subject. She froze you in time, so to speak, and it getting further 'use' out of you." Zeke summarized.

"If you want to look at it that way." the man responded. "It's not necessarily wrong." he shrugged.

"But there are more out there." Zeke went on.

"I told you how many." the man said. "At least, the ones I'm aware of." he added.

"So... we need to find them and reverse this." Zeke told Aedan.

"We'd rather you didn't do it that way." the man suddenly interjected.

"His... life force." Zeke replied.

"As an angel of sorts, I can someone's... life energy." he told her.

"I mean, there's not a whole lot I can DO with it, but I CAN see it." he said further.

"And this man's life energy... it's... odd. Odd, and interesting." he went on.

"It's as though... hm... how do I put this...?" he muttered, scratching his chin.

"It's as though you've paused live TV, left it for a bit, but then when you come back and just decide to go back to live TV, instead of jumping right to it, it glitches and starts jerkily fast-forwarding." he explained.

"Except instead of minutes or hours, we're talking about... well... years. Centuries."

"I'm staying." Zeke responded.

"I want to hear what he has to say." he told her.

"And just in case things go wrong, you may need some extra muscle." he reasoned.

He then looked at the figure again, and narrowed his eyes.

"Hm." he mumbled.

"This is interesting, though..."

".....I have no comment on that." Zeke responded.

"All I know is that he may have information that we need." he said.

"...has he said anything?" he asked.

"At all?" he asked further.

"Even anything akin to SMALL TALK?"

Zeke looked at the monitor, and grimaced.

"Eugh..." he mumbled.

"No... no, that's NOT good." he said.

"Borrowed time may be too charitable a phrase." he commented.

"....does he know this?" he asked her, looking towards the figure once more.

"Or is he ignorant to it still?"

"I see..." Zeke responded.

"That's... interesting." he said.

"....hm." he then mumbled.

"So... quick question." he then said to her.

"One of them attacked you, and Azazel bashed it to pieces." he commented. "Then another was discovered at Vincent's manor, so Azazel went there and smashed it to pieces." he went on.

"Seeing as this is reversible... does that mean he essentially brutally killed two people?" he asked her.

"..................." Zeke was silent as he heard that.

"Reverse it?" he asked.

"It's... reversible?" he asked further, before shaking his head.

"Right, Kiah." he said.

"She's fine. Which is to say, she's alive, and she'll recover." he told her.

"Made it to her JUST in time."

"Hey Aedan, I-" Zeke started to say, before pausing suddenly noticing a figure sitting in the decontamination room.

".....uh...." he muttered.

"Right." he said.

"I have something to say, but I need to know something first." he commented.

"Who's that?" he asked her, gesturing to the other person.

Zeke just smirked a little as Angela told him to 'shoo'.

"Indeed." he replied.

"After all... you're more of an 'angel' than I am." he told her.

And that wasn't Zeke being self-deprecating. As a technical archangel, Zeke was more combat-oriented, and his mana was used for battle and wrath, whereas the average angel was far more passive and healing.

Also, it was a minor pun on how her name was 'Angela', and how she was a medic.

"I'll go tell Aedan what's going on." he added.

"Well..." Zeke muttered.

"I'm a little in the dark, myself, but here's what I know." he told her, before explaining what he'd walked into, what was happening to her, what he'd needed to do, and the supposed origin of it all.

"She was in a state of accelerated organ shutdown. As in, ALL of them." he said further.

"I managed to save her, but... she's still suffering some negative effects."
