She managed to dodge the debris, but several more followed... before they stopped for a while. This gave her time to eat her snacks and watch her entertainment.

However, the mage with the artefact suddenly looked towards her, noticed her, and froze for a split second.

This allowed his foe to rush in, pin him to the ground, and press the rod down on his chest, keeping him there.

This caused the mana storm to abruptly dissipate, of course.

"Now stay DOWN!" he ordered.

It seemed that neither of the mages had heard her. They were rather engrossed in their fight.

She noticed that one of them seemed to be clutching a small rod of sorts, which was causing the potent electricity to surge about the area.

Seemed they were a water mage, augmenting themselves with an artefact.

And the other mage was creating the windstorm all on their own.

"You really are a fool." he said.

"Shut it, Remmington!" the foe growled, as he caused several bolts of electricity to charge towards the older mage. The mage managed to dodge it, and threw a concentrated orb of wind in return, but it was batted away by the rod.

As she got closer, she saw more people running, yelling something about a natural disaster, and violent weather. In the distance, she saw that there was a violent windstorm bring whipped up, but it seemed to be... localized.

She also saw some water and lightning in the storm, as well.

As she got even closer still, she was then able to make out two figures in the centre of it all... and she could barely hear one of them yelling. As expected, the source of the disturbance was a mage duel of sorts.

And a high-level one at that.

If she were to try and get involved, she would surely be out of her league, and in over her head.

"YOUR LIFE IS MINE NOW, REMMINGTON!" she then heard from the shouting one.

"Duly noted." Jack replied.

'With luck, we won't see each other in the future.' he then thought.

'But where to go now...?' he wondered.

'South? North? Further East?' he asked himself.

'Maybe North America. Across the ocean, make sure nobody comes looking for me.' he added, as he started to make plans in his head, for the future.

Jack gritted his teeth some.

"I'll drain all the blood in there." he told her.

"I could use it." he said.

"And... yeah, at least I'm not illegal." he then said. "However, that being said, you're grandfathered in, so the law shouldn't come for you." he reasoned.

"You may be illegal, but I'M the one that's in danger." he lamented.

"And I'll erase all traces of my presence here before I go. Make sure it looks like I was never here."

"I'm LIKE them." Jack responded.

"But I am not one of them." he said.

"They see me as a blight. I act like a vampire, but bleed like a human." he continued.

"I am the result of a vampire and a human relationship, something many consider to be the ultimate insult." he went on.

"And my existence is a crime." he sighed.

"Regardless, I'll be out of your hair in the morning." he told her.

"Nobody will see me leave."

"I need to leave this area anyway." Jack replied.

"Probably leave the country altogether." he said.

"I killed him by tearing his head off. Left the body and head in the condemned inn down the road." he then answered her questions about the vampire.

"You helped me, so I'll help you." he reasoned.

"They sent you to die, you return victorious."

Again, Jack sighed.

"I've been thinking of moving on." he told her.

He then thought for a moment, seeming to recall something.

"You know, a vampire attacked me last night." he said.

"I killed him and left his body somewhere." he told her further.

"Tell them HE was Jack."

Jack raised his eyebrow when he heard that.

"....great." he muttered.

"So now THEY'RE out to get me." he said, referring to the agency that had sent her.

He was then silent for a moment, before looking out the window.

"Seems things might be getting a tad dangerous here."

"Yeah." Jack replied.

"There's not really anything here for those like you." he commented.

"Well, there's not much here for anyone, really." he then mumbled.

"But you get my point." he said.

"Why ARE you here?" he asked her.

Jack got up, and followed her.

"Didn't say I didn't like it." he said.

"I was just trying to avoid detection, due to my candour slip-up back there." he said.

"Regardless, I DO appreciate this." he told her.

"Most people wouldn't do this for me, for... well, obvious reasons." he said further.

"....are you new in this area?" he then asked her.

"I've not smelled one like you around here before."

The man narrowed his eyes.

"My name is not Jack." he told her.

"That being said, my real name is something I don't give out." he said.

"At all." he added sternly.

"So call me Jack if you want." he told her.

"Or just call me 'J' if you want, as well." he then finished.

"............" again, he was silent for a moment.

"Yeah." he said.

He then looked out the window, and sighed.

"Suppose I might as well stay if I'm welcome." he muttered. "Odds are Scotland Yard's out patrolling for me, or acting on some kind of hint someone gave them." he reasoned.

"Laying low for the night is probably the smartest thing." he added.

"Indeed." the male responded.

"You're not a human, you're not a vampire. So it makes sense." he said.

"Lycans don't really count as well, because they'd hate me regardless if I was fully one or the other. It's not like they doubly-hate me." he reasoned.

"...some have even said they wouldn't hunt after me BECAUSE of how I anger both sides of what I am." he then muttered.

"And yes... you are a rarity as well." he commented, shifting the subject as she had.

"Normally I can smell the difference, but this time... well, the smell of your own kill obscured it, and I was... getting to be in a very desperate situation."
