Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"..." Ty was silent as he heard this, and followed her.

"Right then." he said.

In a matter of a few minutes, they were both sitting at the table, with Lunet having a heaping portion of the pasta and meat sauce, as well as garlic bread on the side, and a big glass of the fruit punch.

"All right then, let's dig in." Ty told her.

"And what is it you need to ask me, in reference to my being your legal guardian?" he asked.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"Yup." Leo replied.

"Talk to you later." he said, before the ended the call, she hung up, and made her way to the door, opening it.

"Hey." Ty greeted her. "Food's just finishing up, should be done in a minute or so." he said. "Go on and head to the table and I'll bring it out." he continued.

"Whatcha want to drink with it?" he asked.

"We got water, chocolate milk, fruit punch, and some ginger ale." he listed off.

"And white milk as well, but that doesn't really "go" with a pasta dinner..." he then admitted.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"All right." Leo said.

"But let me know when the both of you are ready to have a bit of a chat." he told her.

"Whether it be right after dinner, later in the evening, or until the weekend or something." he went on.

"Just let me know and we'll find the time to meet." he said further.

"But if it CAN be tonight, all the better." he finished.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

my little jokes on thee...

"..." Leo was silent for a moment.

"...yes." he then said. "Yes he should, I didn't even consider that." he muttered.

"Uh... yeah, bring it up with him, and ask if he feels up to hearing some... jarring news." he told her.

"This is not something that should be brought up without his being there." he went on.

"And he really should be... well, not stupid tired or anything."

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"Tonight works for me." Leo replied.

"But I'll wait until after you eat dinner." he told her.

"It's... it's something I'll probably go on and on about." he chuckled. "AND it's pretty heavy stuff." he then said.

"Nothing bad!" he quickly assured her.

"But... it's pretty big."

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Thankfully for her, she wasn't waiting long. Only about 30 minutes, before she received a call.

From Leo.

"Hey, great to hear!" he said when she answered.

"Means I have something I need to talk to you about." he told her.

"You got a time you want to meet up?" he asked.

"As in right now, or later where you are, or what?"

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"All right then." Ty responded, before pausing.

"Spicy sauce or mild this time!?" he called to her.

"Mild" Lunet yelled back.

"Cool!" Ty said.

"I'll let you know when it's done!" he finished.

"...so she's a mage." he muttered. "Wonder if that'll make much of a difference in her future..."

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Ty nodded.

"And away we go." he said.

After a stop for some coffee (with her getting an expensive drink, of course), they made their way back home, and when they stepped inside, Ty stretched out.

"All right!" he announced.

"I'm going to start making dinner." he told her.

"You need anything before I go to do so?"

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

my little jokes on thee...

"All right then." Ty said.

"Thanks for taking the time to do the tests." he thanked her.

"And Lunet, let's head home." he told Lunet.

"I got nothing else I need to do here. Or at the Unit." he said further.

"You good to go?" he asked. "Or you need something before we head out?"

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"As for what that means... not a lot, right now." Ty said.

"But it DOES mean that when you can channel it in to... will be wildly successful." he told her.

"And it also can mean other things down the road, but that's a developmental thing." he went on.

"Speaking of Leo, he'd be one to talk to about that." he then said further.

"He was a passive mage before he died."

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"Yep." Ty said.

"Says so right here." he told her.

"...and yeah, these ARE pretty high." he mumbled.

'Then again, from what I've learned, passive mages tend to have more potent mana than active mages. As a way to balance out not being able to just willingly use it whenever they want, consciously." he continued.

"Still. This is good to know." he finished.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Ty just groaned again.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah..." he said dismissively.

The next day, before Lunet did anything, really, she went to see Angela, and had a sample taken for tests. The tests took only a day, and by the time she and Ty were getting ready to head home, they had been called to the medical wing.

They arrived there, and once they made their way in, they were escorted to Angela's office, where she revealed the truth to them.

Lunet was, in fact, a passive mana mage. Her mana levels were too high for her to be a mortal with just a high level of mana.

"...huh. So you ARE a mage." Ty said to Lunet.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Leo and Ty looked over towards her, and Ty groaned.

"Means they're going bankrupt." he told her.

"More or less." Leo said. "Chapters 7 and 11 are both bankruptcy, but 7 involves straight up liquidating assets to pay off creditors, but 11 is renegotiating with the creditors to possibly change the terms of their loans and such, WITHOUT having to liquidate assets." he explained.

"Sometimes the debtor can change 11 to 7, if the former won't work." he continued.

"The long and short of it is; the company's in deep financial trouble, and probably won't be around for long." he summarised.

"Meaning I am now forced to get a new phone, no matter what." Ty concluded.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"Ohhh, damn it." Ty mumbled.

"Can't I just send this away to be repaired by a professional?" he asked.

"It'd cost you an arm and a leg, if they'd even TAKE the job." Leo warned.

"I can afford it." Ty stated.

"...also, there's the fact that the corporation that manufactured said phone is... currently undergoing the proceedings to... file for Chapter 11." Leo then revealed.

"...damn it all." Ty cursed.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.
