Azazel's hands clenched into fists, and she could tell he was angry. Angry and sad.

".....I figured." he then said quietly.

"I remember that she said something like that. But it's been so long, it's faded from relevance." he went on.

"...damn it all." he then cursed.

"Just... damn it." he repeated.

"I don't want to lose her, Angela."

"Not too busy that I can't be there in 5 minutes." he replied.

"I'll see you then." he told her.

Sure enough, about 5 minutes later, he was in the med wing, and in her office.

"All right, I'm here." he said.

"Now, what's going on?" he asked.

"Were my concerns confirmed?"

Again, Ryker just laughed.

"I never would have imagined my life turning up like this." he said, as they pulled up to their home.

"Not complaining, either." he said.

"I never knew my life could be so... well... good." he admitted.

"A woman I love, and a bro that I wouldn't trade for the world." he continued.

"I'd say my life is... about as excellent as it gets."

The one on the other side was silent for a moment.

"I can tell by your tone that it's not good news." he said.

"All right." he went on.

"Let's talk." he said, before pausing.

"Wait, odds are this is best done face-to-face." he reasoned.

"Yes." she confirmed.

"Tell me where to meet you, and when." he responded.

Cain was silent, and then sighed heavily.

"I want to argue that." he said.

"But... but I can't." he admitted.

"I just can't." he said, shaking his head.

"All right, all right, fine." he went on, stepping away from the journal and making his way towards her.

"Let's go." he said.

"I think I DO need a smoothie." he admitted.

"....." Ryker was silent, about to protest, but then stopped and sighed.

"...yeah." he said.

"Yeah, I can't argue that." he admitted.

"She's really something." he said further.

"I really DO like her. A LOT."

Cain was silent, before scratching his head.

"....yeah."' he said.

"It's... weird. I need to eat, but... yeah, just... weird." he muttered.

"I'm a curiosity of a being, let's just put it THAT way." he went on.

"A bite to eat, is it. What do you want?" he asked.

"Anything in specific, or just see what's on offer?"

"....." Cain was silent for a moment.

"Kind of?" he responded.

"It's hard to say." he sighed.

"I've found a few equations and documentations of bringing spirits back, and reanimating a body, but nothing about literally bringing back the dead to... well... life." he went on.

"So... doubt it'll be useful." he concluded.

"I'm getting close, though! I just know it!" he added, his tone undaunted.

Ryker just smiled softly.

"I getcha." he said.

"She's everything you've been missing in your life." he said further.

"She fills in all the gaps, and repaired what needed to be fixed." he went on.

"You two really are perfect for each other." he declared.

"And that makes me so damn happy, you have no idea." he added with a small laugh.

Cain just smiled lightly, but there was a hint of pain beneath it.

"Yeah, sure." he replied.

"Some help is always appreciated." he told her.

"....." he was then silent, and sighed.

"Yeah, I know alchemy is in my family." he admitted.

"It's the main reason I want to become an alchemist." he informed her. "...ok, well, it was actually my Mom. Seeing her do all that cool stuff made me want to try it, and it just blossomed from there." he explained.

"Guess alchemy runs in the blood." he went on, before pausing.

"...or whatever runs through my veins." he added with a soft chuckle.

Cain looked over towards the one that had brought the journals, and nodded.

"Ah, thanks." he said.

"I knew I was missing a few." he commented.

"And I KNOW there's SOMETHING in these about what happened to her. There HAS to be." he went on.

"I remember her mentioning... something about it in the past. Can't remember WHAT, exactly, but I remember it." he continued.

"I know the answers have to be in these journals." he told her.

"She has info that the world... well, would rather want forgotten."

"All right." Azazel replied.

"...I'm gonna get a drink." he told her.

"Then I'll probably just... I dunno, to be honest." he then admitted.

"Probably head to the research lab and try and find something." he said further.

"Don't know if it'll help." he muttered.

"But I need to do SOMETHING."

Azazel just leaned forward a little, and hung his head slightly.

"This is confusing for all involved." he said.

"But this seems somehow... I dunno... I feel like there's an answer here, right in front of our noses." he told her.

"We just can't see it." he muttered.

"...if... that makes sense." he then added.

"Just... yeah. It makes things even MORE frustrating." he grumbled.

"And I'll smack myself when the answer inevitably comes to life." he told her.

".......assuming it DOES."

Ryker just smiled slightly.

"Heh." he chuckled.

"Good man." he said.

"She's lucky to have you." he told her.

"Seriously, you treat her like a friggin' queen, and that is amazing." he added.
