Leo just smiled again.

"Thank you." he repeated.

With that, they parted ways, Nakia went back to relaxing, and Leo returned to where Syraene still was.

"All right." he told her.

"That's done and over with." he said.

"Guess I need to prepare to help Lunet with night terrors." he commented.

"Those require a special kind of sand." he mumbled.

Leo just sighed once more, before nodding.

"I know." he replied.

"I'm sorry." he apologised.

"But this was literally JUST sprung on me." he told her.

"...and I REALLY want to be able to help her." he admitted, shaking his head slightly.

"Regardless, thank you for being so understanding." he then went on.

"You really are amazing." he said with a small smile.

Leo stopped for a moment, admiring the woman in the hot tub for a split-second. Every so often he was reminded of JUST how attractive the woman he married was... and it hit him with a moment of realisation. And he always appreciated her even more after them.

But he then shook his head slightly, sighed, and made his way closer towards her.

"...yeah, something's up." he admitted.

"Our date tomorrow... we need to... reschedule it..." he told her, rubbing the back of his head.

"Seems that there's someone that's been having night terrors, and Syraene has ordered me on the case." he explained further, before pausing.

"Remember Lunet, the girl I helped with the visor, because she was born blind?" he asked.

"It's her."

His jaw almost dropped when he heard the name.

"Ah... I..." he stammered.

"I'll be right back." he told her.

He then immediately left the room and looked around.

"Nakia!?" he called out, before taking his cell phone out of his pocket.

Where are you at? We need to talk. he texted her.

He raised an eyebrow when he heard this.

"Uh... what?" he asked.

"Wait, hold on, what?" he repeated.

"Why?" he asked. "Like, why me?" he asked her.

"Yes, a teen with night terrors is truly an awful thing, but... why are you asking ME, in specific?" he asked further.

"I mean, there's a really good chance I can reschedule it, due to who Nakia IS, and the pull and influence she has, and... well, you're the boss, so I do what you say." he then reasoned with a small shrug.

"So who is it?" he asked the woman.

The one in question jumped a bit when Syraene spoke.

"Gah!" he exclaimed lightly, before whirling towards her.

"You are TOO good at that." he told her.

"Anyway, tomorrow?" he then asked.

"Uhhh.... hmmm..." he mumbled, before snapping his fingers.

"Ah! Yes, I have a date with Nakia." he told her.

"Heading out to dinner. Why?" he asked, curiosity in his expression.

Hal just smiled lightly.

"Thank you, Syraene." he said.

"Seriously. Thank you." he repeated.

"I just want my daughter to have a real good night's sleep again." he told her.

"...well, without needing Cain there, anyway." he then clarified.

"He can't be there all the time, obviously." he reasoned with a small sigh.

"Regardless, if you're busy, I won't keep you any longer." he then said. "I relayed the info I wanted to, and made the request I wished to." he added.

"Again, thank you, in advance."

Hal paused for a moment, and thought about it.

"...hm." he mumbled.

"You're... you're right." he said.

"That hadn't actually... fully clicked, I guess." he admitted.

"I shall bring it up with her when I see her next." he told her.

"And thank you." he then said. "It means a lot that someone will be helping her." he told her further.

"Anything you can do to help ease her suffering... she shouldn't have to deal with this. And I don't know who else can help, if anybody."

Hal looked over towards the woman, and sighed.

"Thank you for getting here so quickly." he said to her.

"I... wish to request your assistance. For the sake of my daughter." he told her.

He then proceeded to explain what had been happening to Lunet. The night terrors, the lack of sleep, how the medication had forced her to sleep, but it wasn't restful in the slightest... everything.

"...I'm at my wits' end." he admitted.

"I don't know what to do here. How to help." he told her.

"I figured that if there was anyone that COULD... it'd be you, or one of those under you." he then reasoned.

Hal just growled lightly.

"It's Agent Sharp from the Unit, San Diego branch." he said into the phone.

"Please get back to me ASAP." he said further.

He then hung up and sighed heavily.

"Ugh." he groaned.

"Figures. Nothing's ever easy as of late." he mumbled.

He then looked at his computer screen, and begrudgingly returning to work.

Hal looked over towards Cain and Lunet, and sighed.

He noticed that Lunet was looking calm and serene... and it made him feel good inside. While the father in him was engaging protective mode, he held it back. Lunet was sleeping, and sleeping soundly, and that was what mattered. That was important above all else.

He made his way over, and arranged it quietly, so that Cain had a pillow in his lap, and Lunet was laying on it, with a blanket over her.

They exchanged no words, and just let her sleep.

Though he did give a passing warning glare to Cain, before leaving the room.

It was a couple of days later, and Hal was in his office, lost in thought.

And not pleasant thoughts.

He then just sighed deeply, and grabbed his cell phone, calling someone that might be able to help Lunet with her sleeping issues. The only person that he felt was truly, 100% qualified for this.

"...." Cain was silent as Lunet laid her head against his shoulder.

He then took the arm that was closest to her, and gently wrapped it around her back, letting his hand rest on her waist.

"You shouldn't have to, though." he then said.

'Damnit, THINK.' he told himself mentally.

'THINK! This is familiar and you KNOW it! So THINK!' he scolded himself.

He made plans to return to his home and search through his mother's various journals. That would take a bit, but he swore there was something about this in her collection of them.

He had a feeling the answers were right in front of him, he just needed to SEE them.

Cain bit his lip slightly, and then sighed lightly.

"....yeah..." he mumbled.

"Yeah, I... I figured as much." he said.

"I... I don't know what to say, though." he then admitted.

"I'm sorry." he apologised.

His mind had been racing with possibilities and things that she had said were nagging at him, bothering him. He didn't know why, but there was something that sounded so... familiar to him.

He swore he'd heard it or read it before, or something akin to it, but for the life of him, he couldn't remember WHAT. Or WHERE. Or WHEN.

It frustrated him, and he knew if he could remember, there was a strong chance he could help her.

Ryker smiled.

"Gotcha." he replied.

"To the bookstore!" he declared as they got into the vehicle, and he drove away.

The bookstore wasn't too far away, about 10 minutes, and they arrived there shortly, Ryker pulling into a parking space and shutting the vehicle down.

"All righty, let's get inside." he told Eke.

"Get that book."
