Zeke's eyes opened wider for a fraction of a second, before he shook his head.

"Not really." he said.

"Well... okay, kind of." he then admitted.

"Normally when I go there, the ones that end up treating me end up looking at me like I'm ready to cast judgement on their souls and deliver God's wrath upon them." he said. "It's... not entirely their fault, I am what I am, but it DOES get tiresome." he told her.

"But Angela just treated me like I was just another patient." he went on.

"It was refreshing." he then said further.

"So I was curious as to who she was, and if she was new here." he finished, hiding quite a bit more from Peyton with that statement.

"Well, it's about someone that works in the medical wing." Zeke replied.

"Specifically, one called Angela." he told her.

"Is she... new here?" he asked.

"I've never seen her before." he said.

"Now, granted, I'm not in the medical wing very often... but I'm curious." he went on.

"She gave me the cream, after all."

"I should be." Zeke replied.

"I got a special cream for the injury." he told her.

"So I'll be fine." he assured her further, as they started to get their food.

"....hey..." he then muttered.

"Mind if I ask you something?" he asked her.

"About the staff here." he then added.

Zeke laughed when she said that.

"Of course." he said.

"Not only are you quick, I'm slower than usual." he told her.

"Sustained heavy damage from a recent assignment." he explained.

"Anyway, how have you been?" he asked as they entered the cafeteria.

"Been a while since we just talked."

Eke DID notice something odd.

Ryker was covered in scratches and bite marks, with strange black energy rising from them. However, as the energy rose up, the wounds were closing and healing.

After a moment, Ryker mumbled.

"Hm?" he grunted.

"Eke?"

Zeke chuckled as well, and stepped out of her way.

"Well, don't let me stop you." he said.

"Go and get that done." he told her.

"I'm going to make my way to the cafeteria." he went on.

"Odds are you'll catch up to me before I get there, given how quick you are." he added with a smirk.

"Just got some stuff on my mind." Zeke responded, before his stomach growled.

"...and apparently hungry." he then said sheepishly.

"I'm going to head to the cafeteria." he told her.

"What about you?" he asked. "What are you up to?" he asked her.

"Seemed like you were in a bit of a hurry, judging from how hard we bumped into each other." he chuckled.

Eke saw that he was alone in the tent.

However, he then saw, through the vaguely translucent fabric of the tent, Ryker.

He saw Ryker's form, sitting down by the entrance.

And he didn't look to be moving... though his slightly rising and falling shoulders proved he wasn't dead, at least.

Ryker just held Eke close, as a few tears started to stream down his face.

'Get out of this place.' he heard in his mind. 'Get away from this village, and find a place to set up for the night.' he was told.

He merely nodded and lifted Eke up in his arms, carrying him out of the building and away from the cursed village.

He walked for what seemed like forever, until the sun started to go down, and he managed to find a forest. He walked into it some, before setting Eke down and setting up the tent. He made sure the tent bedding was laid down, made sure Eke was comfortable, and made sure he was in a good position to sleep.

He was about to join him, when he heard the growling of a wolf nearby... and his eyes hardened, some red glowing behind them.

"....no." he growled.

"Not this time." he said, stepping out of the tent and closing it up.

He didn't know if this was a pack of wolves, or just one, but he knew that Eke was going to wake up tomorrow. He would fight to the last, to make sure of it.

Ryker just held Eke in response.

"I..." he stammered.

"Yeah." he said.

"Let's... let's find someplace." he told him.

"Someplace where we can actually live." he agreed.

"...I'm sorry you've been in so much pain..." he then said quietly.

"I'll... I'll try to do whatever I can to help you try and stop feeling this pain."

"...ah." Zeke suddenly stammered.

"Ah, no." he said.

"No. Things are... pretty clear." he told her.

'Well... as far as this cream is concerned.' he then thought.

"See you." he finished, before leaving the medical wing. He wandered through the hallways, seemingly in a bit of a daze, before turning a corner and bumping into a smaller female with rather vulpine-like qualities.

"Oh." he said.

"Sorry, Peyton." he apologized to her.

Zeke accepted the container, and nodded.

"....right." he said.

"Thin coat, every other day, couple weeks." he said.

"No sharing." he went on.

"Got it." he said further.

"...thanks." he then finished, almost stunned by how the whole thing had played out.

Zeke gritted his teeth again, and growled some.

"Hmph." he muttered.

"Fine with me." he said.

He was then silent for about two minutes, before Angela saw the relief in his expression.

"...whew." he exhaled.

"That was... really something." he muttered, shaking his head a little to clear his mind.

Ryker... didn't know what to do here.

Eke had just poured his soul out and spoken a harsh truth to him... one that was unpleasant to hear, and it hurt him worse than what Eke had said earlier.

He tried to say something... anything... but no words came out when he opened his mouth. He reached a shaking hand out, before stopping and just plopping his ass down on the floor.

"....I..." he stammered.

"We all say things we don't mean..." he said. "It's my fault as well for not thinking before I let those words hurt me." he told him.

"And... I'm sorry." he then apologized.

"I don't know how to ease your pain." he said. "I have the power of a demon king at my disposal... I have a body that I toughened up to be durable and stronger than how it was before... I've known pain for a lot of my life... but it's nothing here." he went on.

"I'm... I'm sorry..." he repeated.

'...I really AM useless...' he then thought.
