Ryker continued to cook the fish, and listened intently to what Eke was saying to him.

"Hmmm... I see." he said.

"Sounds like I would have loved to meet him." he told Eke. "And no, I don't mean fight or attack, I mean 'meet'." he assured him further.

"Though... now I feel like I must ask... 2 questions." he then said further.

"There's only ever been another?" he asked him.

"And... why are you not with this sage dragon? Did... something happen?" he then inquired.

"Bingo." Jaden replied.

"On all accounts." he said.

"Such hideyholes are getting rarer and rarer." he lamented with a sigh, before pausing.

"Never managed to get to one of my shows?" he then asked.

"Check my glove compartment." he told her.

"There's some VIP passes for my next show in a few weeks." he said.

"Take one if you want."

'......hmmm.' Jaden thought.

"I'm a magician." he said.

"I specialize in shows that aren't exactly for young audiences." he told her.

"I've been dubbed as a 'Physical Mind Freak'." he went on.

"I, essentially, stab myself repeatedly in various areas, only to come out unscathed." he continued.

"The audience never tired of it, it seems."

"....a wildcat?" Jaden asked.

"....I.... hm." he muttered.

"What sort of wildcat?" he asked.

"Obviously one not suitable for a pet." he chuckled.

"But what kind? Caracal? Lynx?" he asked further.

'Something seems... off.' he then thought. 'I think there's more than what there seems to be here...'

"A hunter?" Jaden responded.

"Hmm. I see." he said.

"Not a profession that one hears of very much these days." he went on.

"What's been your most successful hunt?" he asked.

"Every hunter has that one story. Their best hunt, their most successful quarry." he chuckled.

"What's your proudest hunt?"

"ACTUAL profession?" Jaden asked.

"That's an... intriguing statement." he said.

"All right, I'll bite..." he then muttered, trailing off again.

"What IS your actual profession?" he asked.

"What do you do that allows you to speak of broken bones so casually?"

"Not your fault that they're idiots." Jaden responded.

"They made an assumption, and the made themselves asses." he said.

"Their fault." he concluded.

"Regardless..." he then sighed, trailing off a little.

"Hustling CAN be a dangerous way to earn money." he said.

"...though I get the feeling that's not the case for you."

"Well, I like to ride in comfort and style." Jaden responded, starting the car.

"But I don't like to stand out TOO much." he admitted.

"Anyway, name's Jaden." he said.

"Though you can call me 'J' if you want. Some people do." he shrugged.

"Nice to meet you, Vyn." he went on, smiling at her.

"Seems you were hustling those dopes back in the bar." he then said, pulling away from where he'd parked.

"..........oh yeah, that's right." Jaden said.

"Well, then, I can drive us there." he told her.

"And I'm allowed ONE passenger." he went on.

"Come on, then." he said further.

"Let's beat it before something more happened around here."

Jaden paused when she said what she did.

"Ah..." he stammered.

"Wait." he said.

"What... what time is it?" he asked.

"Because... uh, well... I mean... I never really bothered to... get my license..." he admitted.

"I... have a Learner's Permit..." he then said sheepishly.

"Heh." Jaden chuckled.

"I have no doubt of that." he said.

"You got someplace you'd prefer to go?" he asked her.

"Or someplace you'd prefer to avoid?" he asked further.

"I'm open for pretty much anywhere, as long as it's quiet, and people respect others' rights to be left alone."

"...oh yeah?" Jaden asked.

"Heh, interesting." he said.

"You sound like one tough lady." he commented further, before pausing.

"....uh.... hey..." he then said, sounding suddenly awkward.

"Listen... you seem like a really cool person." he told her.

"Y'wanna... go and grab a bite to eat or something? Somewhere calmer?" he asked her.
