"I wouldn't advertise that at all if I were you." Uriel told her.

"Seriously. If someone asks you what I do for a living, tell them I'm in the army." he said.

"It's not a lie." he shrugged.

"And if they ask for further information, tell them I'm a hands-on officer, assigned to a special tactics unit." he went on.

"Just... for further use." he reasoned.

"But hey, if you want to wait, we can wait." he finished.

"Ehhhhhhhhhhh." Uriel muttered.

"See, technically, I'm ageless." he said.

"So... yeah, that's not really a worry." he told her.

"Seriously, I actually don't have an age." he then said further.

"I have a number for how long I've existed, but... I don't age." he went on.

"So that concern is, by technicality, unfounded."

Uriel froze again when she said that.

"...you... heard that?" he asked.

"I guess I really talk louder than I think." he muttered.

"...and do I consider us as such?" he asked in response.

"I never have." he said.

"...but that's because I assumed you'd not want to be with an archangel, to be honest." he admitted.

"So... what we've discovered is that we feel the same way about each other, but didn't think the other did?" he then asked her, seeking clarification.

Uriel froze for a moment, unsure as to what to say here.

"I... hm." he muttered.

"I see." he said.

"Well, your brother IS a bit of a shit-disturber." he commented.

"And it's rather charming of Vincent to suddenly get protective." he then said further, looking towards the sky.

"...I wonder, though..." he muttered.

"Was he wrong in telling Vincent that?" he asked, pretty much under his breath.

"Hm." Uriel muttered.

"Well, I suppose it's understandable." he said.

"I mean, you are his adoptive daughter, but he cares for you like you were biological." he reasoned. "And I'm sure he doesn't want anyone to harm you." he said further.

"And have I met him before? No, I have not." he told her.

"I think he's run into one of my brothers in the past." he then said.

"....and yeah, they were an ass to him, more than likely." he muttered further.

Uriel shook his head.

"I wasn't doing anything, anyway." he told her.

"And he does, does he?" he asked.

"That's interesting." he said.

"Do you want him and I to meet?" he then asked her further.

"Well, that's a nice surprise." Uriel responded.

"And I'm glad that it went smoothly." he said.

"The boss knew that it would happen last night." he then told her.

"She stepped in and helped streamline the process, helping you subconsciously guide the mana, get used to it, and tame it, while you slept." he explained further.

"So... yeah, you had a LITTLE helping hand." he chuckled.

"I bet you're feeling a LOT more powerful now, too." he then added.

Ryker shook his head.

"Nah." he said.

"I know what it's like to want to be outside." he told him.

"I just didn't want the staff to be jumping down your throat." he admitted with a small sigh.

"Regardless, as long as you don't get sick while you're recovering, I'm cool." he finished, grabbing the pitcher of water and taking a small drink from it.

"Heh." Uriel chuckled, sitting down beside her.

"Well, seems it's cake for you." he told her.

"How did it go?" he asked. "The mana maturation, that is." he clarified.

"I assume it went smoothly?" he asked further.

"No real... complications or discomfort, or anything?"

Nothing seemed to happen for a few moments, before a familiar figure stepped out from the trees behind Aimee, and made his way over towards the girl.

He stepped up behind her, and Aimee could see his reflection in the water, peeking out over her.

"Yeah?" he asked.

"What is it?" he asked further, a small hint of a smirk on his face.

"You called me for a reason, yes?"

Vincent watched her go, and sighed.

"...I need to learn not to smother her." he said.

"She's an adult now. She needs to make her own decisions." he told himself, before shaking his head.

With that, he grabbed a couple of cloth shopping bags and set them on the table. He grabbed a slip of paper, checked their cupboards, and wrote down all they needed. He then set it on the bags, alongside a small coin purse filled with money.

"And there we go."

Ryker sat down in the chair, and sighed.

"You weren't even that wet." he said.

"I mean, I can understand them being overly protective and strict, but you weren't out for THAT long, and you barely even got wet." he said further.

"Oh well." he mumbled.

"The important thing is that you got a change of scenery, and won't go stir-crazy." he chuckled lightly.

Vincent nodded in response.

"If you like." he said.

"Actually, I'll make up a small list of what we need, exactly." he told her.

"Give me 10 minutes." he continued.

"Oh, and I'll make sure you have the money needed." he then added.

"I'll think about it." Vincent responded.

"As I said, I want to give you your freedom, and let you be in charge of your decisions." he told her.

"So for now, I'll back off." he said.

"...but I will want to meet him in due time." he went on, before pausing.

"For now, I need to concern myself with going to the market soon." he continued. "We're running low on fruit and bread." he reasoned.
