Ryker just chuckled in response.

"Hah! Fair enough." he replied.

"Don't worry about that for now, though." he told him.

"Like I said, it's in the past, and we'll deal with shit as it comes in the future." he said further.

"YOU don't need to stress yourself out. Not while recovering from surgery."

"I do." Uriel replied.

"Well, when I'm down here, I do, anyway." he clarified.

He then silently made his way to the den, and walked over towards a window, looking outside, up towards the sky.

"........" he was silent for a moment, biting his lip a little.

'...really hope they don't sense me in here.' he thought to himself.

Uriel looked around, before slowly stepping inside.

"Eh?" he muttered.

"Me?" he asked as he got closer.

"Yeah... yeah, sure." he said.

'Been a while since a mortal offered ME hospitality.' he thought.

"Thanks..." he muttered further, before sighing.

"Nice place." he told her.

Uriel made note of Aimee's coughing, but didn't say anything until she asked her question.

"Plenty." he told her.

"I do whatever I can to come down here." he said.

"Beats being up THERE with my 'brothers'." he growled, looking skyward, before clearing his throat a little.

"You didn't hear that." he muttered.

"Regardless, I am not opposed to this plane." he confirmed.

"But I rarely get the chance to sneak away."

Ryker leaned forward, closer to Eke.

"As I said, your options were limited." he told him.

"Tell me something." he said.

"Do you honestly think I stood a chance against that dragon?" he asked.

"If not, then your choices were for me to die trying to protect you, while you got taken away, you get taken away, but I'm left alive, in which case I probably either go back to trying to end myself, or chasing after you until the inevitable fight with the dragon, or doing what you did." he told him further.

"And given that we're both here, alive, I'd say it's the best possible outcome."

As she walked, Aimee felt an immense sense of security. Almost like, no matter what came her way, nothing could harm her... all because of the one walking behind her.

Even a few people she noticed eyeing her as prey... mostly suspicious and sketchy-looking people near alleys... didn't dare make a move on her.

"...hmph." Uriel muttered to himself.

"Lowlifes." he mumbled under his breath.

"Yeah, that's why they were targeting you." he then told Aimee.

"Guess they saw a pure-aligned necromancer as 'unnatural'." he grumbled.

"Yeah." Uriel replied.

".....get home safe." he told her, after a pause.

"Seriously, this is a shadier part of town. Get home where it's safe." he said.

Again, he paused for a moment, before sighing yet again.

"...I'll escort you." he mumbled.

"I get the feeling there might be more shady people around."

"Yeeeeah..." the angel muttered, scratching the back of his head.

"See... alignment is something that not everyone has, but it... well... hm." he muttered further, thinking about it again and pausing for another moment.

"Mana can be neutral, pure, or tainted." he then said.

"Tainted leans toward using the darkness of the world, while pure draws from the light side of it." he continued.

"A necromancer usually has tainted mana, meaning they can tap into the world of... and summon... demons." he went on.

"You, on the other hand, seem to have pure mana, meaning you actually tap into the world of angels." he then informed her. "Quite rare for a necromancer."

Ryker just sighed in response.

"You're not stupid." he said.

"You were angry, and reacted accordingly... well... understandably, anyway." he told him.

"I mean, what other choice was there?" he asked.

"Seriously. Pretty sure the options were... limited."

Uriel was silent, before raising an eyebrow.

"Eh?" he muttered.

"You don't know?" he asked.

Aimee was silent, causing him to sigh.

"Right then." he said.

"Before I answer, let me ask you something." he went on. "You obviously know you're a necromancer, but do you know anything about alignment?" he asked her.

"Mana-wise, that is." he then added.

"I was given no information." Ryker responded.

"Mostly because I wanted to hear it from YOU, directly." he reasoned.

"So... yeah, care to fill me in?" he asked.

"What's going on here?" he asked further.

"You've already told me about other troubles you have, health-wise, but what's all this about?"

"..." the man was silent for a moment, before sighing.

"I'm like the others in many ways, but also vastly different from them, as you say." he said.

"I am a part of an elite attack force." he went on. "Those meant to carry out the wrath and fury of the one above." he continued.

"...my name is Uriel." he then informed her.

"And I... am an Archangel."

The man turned to face her, before silently extending his hand.

When she grabbed it to help herself to her feet, she felt a sort of light mana course through her. While it wasn't as warm and friendly as others she had managed to summon, there was some to it. But she mostly felt like the energy had a more... violent and brutal history to it. But it DID manage to heal her to the point where she could probably move on her own power now.

The man then helped her to her feet, and sighed.

"Right." he said.

"That felt good." he commented.

"Haven't done a good smiting in a while." he said further with a wry smirk and a dry chuckle.

"How are you feeling now?" he asked her.

"Well, we can talk about 'should have's and 'would have's all we want, but... doesn't change the fact that what happened, happened." Ryker told him.

"It was probably the best thing to do, really... in spite of the consequences." he reasoned.

"So all we can do is work with what we're dealt." he said further with a small sigh.

"Which involves YOU making sure that you recover in good time." he then told Eke, looking right at him.

"Y'hear? Doesn't matter how much you might not like it here, you NEED to be here until you're set to go." he told him further.

"I refuse to have you skip out on this place, just to collapse and possibly REALLY die."
