Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Nico nodded again.

"Fair enough." he said.

After a couple of minutes, just as she was about to call again, she heard a knock on the door.

"Sydney!?" Rene called in.

"I'll get it." Nico told her, getting up and making his way to the door. He returned with Rene about 20 seconds later, and Rene raised an eyebrow at her.

"...damn, you look like you've been through the wringer." he commented.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Nico dug out his cell phone and handed it to her.

"Here." he said.

When she accepted it, he sighed and looked around them.

'...geez, this place looks bad.' he thought.

'But it DID hold up to a Fallen attack, so that IS something...' he then reasoned.

"Are you still going to stay here for now?" he asked her.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"....yeesh." Nico muttered.

"He must have been desperate if he tore it off." he said.

Sydney explained what the mana was doing to it, which caused the man to just shake his head.

"Well, it's understandable, then." he mumbled.

"But still. Holy geez." he said further.

"Lucky that seed flared when it did."

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"....big boy?" Nico asked.

"Wait, you mean Michael...?" he then asked her.

She merely nodded.

"Holy hell, you fended off MICHAEL!?" he exclaimed.

"Crap, that is a feat-and-a-half." he commented.

"It's impressive to seriously understate it."

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Nico could only chuckle as she said that.

"Yeah, you'll be fine." he said.

"I'll help clean as well." he told her.

"...so what happened?" he then asked.

"I mean, yes, Fallen attacked you, but... why? How?" he asked further.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Nico nodded in response.

"Got it." he replied.

He was then speedily gone, and he returned very quickly with a bag for her. He got it close to her, got it ready for her, and then made sure she had a hold on it, with him helping a little.

"All right, guzzle it down." he told her.

"Get your strength back up."

great big one on me.

my little jokes on thee...

"...." Nico was silent as he saw the halo, and listened to her.

"I see." he said.

"The fact you managed to fend three of them off, and actually have something to show for it is impressive." he told her.

"Though it seems like they did quite a number on you..."

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Nico quickly made his way to where he'd heard her, and stopped when he SAW her.

"....the mana in this house is... just..." he stammered, before shaking his head and getting closer.

"Csilla, what the hell HAPPENED?" he asked Sydney.

"It's... this feels like some sort of mana clash happened, but it's nothing I've ever felt before." he went on.

He then paused, as something clicked.

"...were there Fallen here?" he asked her.

great big one on me.

my little jokes on thee...

"...eh?" Nico muttered.

"I'll be right there. Gimme a minute." he told her.

"Yep." Sydney replied, before the call was ended.

Sure enough, Nico had used the special coin he had, and teleported to Sydney's home. He stepped inside, and immediately Sydney knew he was there. Mostly because he yelled "What the HELL happened here!?" and it rang through the house.

"Csilla!?" he called out.

"Where are you!?"

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

As she listened to it ring, a number of things went through her mind... all of them Fallen-related. She'd been able to deal with the cronies that had come for her, but if Michael's reactions were anything to go by, he hadn't sent them there. They had just been low-tier foot soldiers, essentially. Ones that he didn't care lived or died, or anything. Hell, he'd even had her turn one into a demon right there and then.

And Michael himself had been alarmingly strong. So much so that the sudden and fortuitous appearance of the 'gift' that Liz had bestowed upon her when she was appointed the successor was the only reason she was still here.

He had been THAT strong. As a Fallen.

She didn't have TOO long to ponder that, though, before the phone was answered.

"Csilla?" Nico's voice echoed from the other end.

"What's up?" he asked her. "You all right?" he asked further.

She'd called from her landline, which was a rarity. So he was a little concerned at the moment.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"Why you little-!" Michael growled, until he suddenly stopped.

He then looked at one of his wings... and saw that the mana had actually reached out and was clinging to it, devouring it as Sydney had warned him.

In a burst of panic, he grabbed the wing with his opposite hand... and literally tore it off of his back. He let out a yell that rang through Sydney's ears, before throwing the wing to the ground.

"THIS ISN'T OVER!" he exclaimed.

With that, he disappeared from where he was in what seemed to be tainted light, as the wing was eaten at by the mana seeping from her.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Michael seemed to know the mana that was leaking from her, and he immediately retreated back a few steps.

"What!?" he exclaimed.

"Damn it! NO!" he yelled.

He then thrust his fist forward, and a pulse of mana rocked the entire house... but all she felt from it was a shoving sensation, as the mana leaking out of her almost absorbed the impact.

"NO! NO!" Michael yelled again, trying to break through the mana that she was exuding, but to no avail.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Instantly, Michael's face winced in pain, as he unclenched his fist, grabbed her by her shirt, and literally threw her through the nearest door, smashing it to pieces, and causing her to fly into the drawer that was in the room she was flung into, causing IT to be broken and smashed.

"...I am impressed you fight back." Michael said as he started to quickly approach her.

"But then again... rats always fight back when cornered. And you are little more than a bat. And a bat is little more than a rat with wings." he sneered.

"However, I've played around enough." he then said further, as his other hand started to glow with frightening power. The aura it exuded was almost suffocating, and it stung her to even FEEL it.

"I will make sure your body and soul disappear from this plane altogether."

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

The man that stood before her smirked as well.

"Consider it my parting gift." he told her.

Then, before she could say anything or really react to the statement, he was literally standing RIGHT in front of her... and then his fist slammed right into her stomach with tremendous force.

"And yes, Fallen are Fallen because of their halos." he told her.

"Once the halo is destroyed, they become a demon." he finished.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.
