"Yeah, Nathan." Ilias responded.

"Or Nate, as we call him." he added, as Helena poked her head out again.

"...this is Helena, and she's saying hello." he told her.

"She's quite inquisitive about new people around her that will be seen a lot." he went on.

"It's a compliment, don't worry."

"Oh!" Ilias exclaimed.

"...THANK you." he then said.

"He was running himself ragged doing all that work, and both Kiah and his daughter were starting to worry a little about him." he admitted.

"You'll be a lifesaver." he continued.

"Just... yeah. You'll be just what this place needs." he went on, pausing and sighing.

"...you never know JUST how important or pivotal an administrative position is until you don't have them any longer, sometimes..."

Ilias looked a little confused.

"Well, good to hear you're continuing to improve." he said.

"And... I won't say no to a thank-you dinner, but... what do you mean by seeing plenty of each other?" he asked.

"Do you live nearby?" he asked.

"Planning on visiting here often?"

"Oh?" Ilias asked.

"Well, all right then." he said.

"Glad things have aligned for you, then." he chuckled.

"Good to see you're doing well, too." he commented.

"I know we briefly saw each other after you were cured, but still. Good that there were no unforeseen side effects or anything." he went on.

"Feel good as new?" he asked. "No lingers stiffness or soreness?"

"Oh, hey." Ilias responded as he opened the door for her and accepted the book. He looked at the cover, the spine, and the title, before nodding slightly.

"Wow." he said. "This seems like a pretty old book, but it's in remarkable condition." he commented. "I shall treat this with the utmost of respect." he assured her further.

"Thank you." he then said, before it clicked that she was HERE.

"Did you come here JUST to give me this?" he asked.

"Can't be." he chuckled. "Had some other business to get done around here?" he asked further.

Savra followed Eke to the door, and Ryker smiled a little, waving back.

"We'll be here to help you, no matter what." he said.

"But good to see you've got your spunk back." he added with a wink.

He then sighed a little, and got up from the couch, stretching a little.

"Ahhh! Feels good!" he declared.

"Oh, did Savra tell you there's something for you in the freezer?" he then asked.

"Annual cost-of-living increases are a thing, of course." Hal told her.

"And you get a signing bonus." he then said. "All new employees get it." he went on.

"We'll need to potentially work out banking information and such, but for now, the paperwork." he continued, as she went through a few more papers.

As she did so, he sighed internally, in relief.

He hoped she would turn out well. She seemed to have the right attitude, and all the necessary skills. If anything, she might be the best receptionist that this place had ever seen. But only time would tell.

"About a week or so." Ryker said.

"And Aly's out getting... food." he then muttered, before grabbing his cell phone.

"Gonna text her to let her know to bring some home for you." he told him.

"Or you can, too." he then said.

"Want me to, or you gonna?" he asked.

"She's out grabbing burgers and fries and stuff."

"Indeed." Hal responded, handing her a few papers.

"Read these over." he told her. "Standard procedure and such. These are more general for working here, and we'll make our way to the more specific ones." he continued.

"Oh, and your starting wage is $21 an hour." he then said. "Time-and-a-half for overtime, Double-time for holidays." he went on. "Figured I should... get that out of the way." he reasoned.

"Regardless, we'll get these signed, and we'll iron out a first day for you."

Sure enough, about 3 days later, she was called up, and an interview was scheduled. Overall, it went fairly well, and she felt confident. Her confidence started to wane a little when another week went by, but she was called in once more.

She made her way to his office again, and when she was there, he beckoned for her to sit down.

"Apologies for taking this long." he said. "Had a sudden influx of some resumes, and had a few other interviews to go through." he explained.

"However, I've called you in this morning, to say that you've stood head and shoulders among your fellow applicants." he then said.

"Congratulations. You're hired."

Hal looked over to his monitor, and nodded.

"Received." he told her.

"I'll contact you in 3-5 business days." he said further. "Arrange for possible interviews and such." he went on.

"Thank you for your interest in the position." he then said.

"I look forward to potentially speaking with you later."

"Ah, very well then." Hal said, grabbing one of his business cards and handing it to her.

"My business email." he told her.

"Need to keep this professional and all." he reasoned.

"And in this age of technology, an emailed resume is fine." he then said. "A physical copy might be needed, just for filing purposes, but for the sake of applying for the position, not needed." he went on.

"So send your resume to that address, with the header 'Application; Receptionist'." he finished.

"Oh?" Hal asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, if you can provide a resume, and some references, I'll certainly consider you." he told her.

"Admittedly, I AM finding myself in need of a receptionist, as mine is in the process of moving." he admitted with a chuckle. "So this is quite fortuitous." he said further.

"But yes, provide me with an up-to-date resume, and I'll take a look." he promised.

He didn't say anything more, due to wanting to maintain some professionalism about this. She was applying for a job, and he would treat it strictly as such.

'...of all phrasing to use...' Ryker thought.

"Well, fair enough, I suppose." he said.

"Good to see you've got that will to live going strong." he told him.

"Seriously. Good." he went on.

"We've been concerned about you for a bit now. Ever since we got home."
