Hal watched her leave, before growling and standing up.

He needed to get out of there.

He needed to just walk. Stimulate his brain.

He needed to figure out WHAT the obvious puzzle piece they were missing was.

"...maybe Izea's found something..." he mumbled, deciding to make his way to R&D. She did say she was going there.

He then sighed once more and started to make his way there, grumbling as he did so.

"She's a fighter." Hal told her.

"I'm sure she'll pull through." he said further.

He then paused once more, and started to wrack his mind.

WHAT was he missing?

WHAT was something that could be tied to all this?

He had a feeling it was right under their noses... but it couldn't figure it out. Probably from stress.

"....I'm trying to think of what it could be." Hal responded.

"But I have no idea." he said.

"Couldn't have been Aegis." he mumbled.

He then leaned back further in his chair, and started thinking.

"Damn it." he cursed.

"I feel like I'm missing something obvious, and I HATE it!"

"..." Hal was silent for a moment, before sighing heavily.

"If we lose Peyton, all bets are off." he repeated. "To THAT, I will acquiesce." he said.

"But we are waiting until we get solid and definitive word from the medical wing." he then stated.

He then leaned back in his chair, pressing the tips of his fingers together.

"And no, they're not talking." he growled.

"No reason why they're here... other than to bring bodily harm to Roxie." he said further, figuring Kiah knew about that, at least.

"..." Savra didn't know what to say here, but they went and got another bottle of water for him.

"Here." they said as they handed it off.

"Are... is something wrong?" they asked.

"Your eyes seem... off." they commented.

"They're a bit dull... and not filled with the shimmer of life they usually are."

"Absolutely NOT!" Hal responded in an authoritative tone, slamming a palm down on his desk... quickly and suddenly enough that would have shocked Kiah, even momentarily, and even in her enraged state.

"I refuse to have you do something like that!" he told her.

"You know as well as I do that that rune is unpredictable with its strength and side-effects, especially when one doesn't use it often." he said further.

"...but nevermind that, what about YOUR soul?" he then asked, his voice far softer and more concerned now. "Every time a Fyrane uses that rune, it fractures their soul a little. You KNOW this. You've TOLD me this." he continued.

"Do you think any of us here want you to do that to yourself?" he asked.

"How do you think Peyton would feel?"

Hal just sighed.

He then told her what he knew, what he was told had transpired. Specifically, between Mira and Peyton. He didn't need Kiah going after the one that headed the Media department... as much as he would have liked that.

"...as for Mira... I don't know." he then said.

"Her body is in holding." he told her.

"As for who is currently inhabiting it. I don't know who that is." he went on.

"But it's NOT Mira."

She made her way there without interference... possibly because people were too scared to get in her way... and just as the receptionist was about to tell her that Hal was busy, the man popped his head out of his office, having FELT the arrival.

"It's all right..." he told her, before looking at Kiah.

"Come in." he said.

"Let's talk." he said further.

'...and hopefully not cause you to go off the deep end...' he then thought.

"I..." Nate started to say, almost in protest, when someone called out to him.

"NATE! PEYTON!" they yelled.

"Ah! Right!" Nate shouted back.

He then looked back at Kiah briefly, before rushing off, leaving her alone.

Alone with her thoughts. Alone with knowing what had happened to Peyton.

Knowing her life was in very real jeopardy.

Savra didn't say anything, just made their way to the fridge and shifted to their human form. They opened it and grabbed a bottle of water, opening it as they made their way back to Eke.

"Here." they said, handing it to him.

"...are you all right?" they asked.

"As in... are you feeling okay?"

"I... I, uh..." Nate stammered, obviously a little frightened now.

"All I'm at liberty to say is she sustained a grievous wound from a bladed edge during an encounter between... well, a security guard, and Mira." he told her.

He then paused, wondering if he should say something about the discord between Mira's body and soul, but... he then noticed that the darkening lifesigns surrounding Kiah got... a LOT darker.

"K-Kiah...?" he stammered.

"I... you... what are you...?" he started to ask, but couldn't bring himself to finish the question.

There was a sudden silence from Nate, before he looked away.

"...I... I don't know." he admitted.

"It's... it's touch and go right now." he said.

"Even with MY ability, I can't tell if she's going to make it or not." he then admitted.

"And I don't know how you can help." he went on.

"But we're trying all we can, I promise."

Ilias returned the hug and watched her go, before shaking his head and staring at the ceiling.

"...Peyton..." he mumbled.

"Please be all right..." was all he managed to say.

Kiah, meanwhile, made her way to the medical wing, where she saw things were... a little hectic. Considering what had just happened, not that she would specifically know, it wouldn't be surprising.

She saw Nate rushing by, but he noticed her and quickly stopped.

"Kiah? What's up?" he asked hastily.

'You passed out.' Savra responded.

'Ran a high fever, too. And your scales and claws wouldn't retract.' they said further.

'Ryker kept you cool and kept your temperature moderate, until you seemed fine.' they then went on.

'And then he started driving.'
