Azazel looked like he was ready to attack, but then sighed.

"I..." he started to say, before flinching.

"I..." he repeated.

"No!" he then exclaimed.

"If I talk, she'll get in trouble!" he told her.

"She's had a hard life! I just got her that job at the Unit!" he said further.

Now, while he hadn't said anything specific about who it was... Aedan could guess who he was referring to.

Azazel shook his head.

"I care too much." he said.

"I WILL protect her." he told her further.

With that, she felt herself starting to be dragged backwards.

"Aedan, don't make this hard." he continued.

"I don't want to do something that can't be reversed."

"I'm sorry." he apologised again.

"But your digging can and might endanger her." he told her.

"And I won't let that happen." he said further.

"I care too much, it seems." he went on.

"So I will need to silence you for a while..."

By the way, is your list of 'items you're looking for' current/up-to-date?

@synthetic nature: Confirming, yeah, Colin IS me on Toyhouse. It's weird. Amber and I have a shared universe, so we share characters, essentially? I guess is the way to put it?

Azazel was still in the house.

He was hiding.

He'd chosen a hallway closet, and was waiting for Aedan to come walking by.

When she did... and when she walked past him, he decided that that was the time to strike. He burst out from the closet and grabbed her from behind. He used one of his arms to pin one of her arms to her side, and grabbed the wrist that was connected to the hand that held the serum with his other hand.

"...sorry." he apologised.

"But I think you should stop digging."

When she made her way upstairs, and looked for Azazel, she discovered something.

Something... concerning.

She couldn't find him.

No matter where she looked, she couldn't find him.

She was sure he hadn't left the premises, but he was nowhere to be found.

Which was even MORE concerning.

"....I don't know." Cain replied.

"I just feel... bad." he said.

"I don't know how to say it." he went on.

He then collapsed to his side, clutching at his sides.

"I... think most of it is gone...?" he then said further, unsure of himself.

"Maybe? Whatever it is...?"

Cain was silent for a moment, still emitting sounds like he was sick.

He then proceeded vomit... something... out of his body. He hadn't eaten in a while, not even what he required to continue to exist, but... something came out of his system.

It looked to mostly be the serum that he'd just downed, but she saw weird flecks in it.

Flecks of something that was a darker colour.

She wasn't sure what is was, but it was definitely not something that seemed normal.

"Ow..." Cain groaned.

"The pain..."

Cain just looked to her.

"Nothing!" he lied.

"...slight tingling." he then said.

"....VERY slight." he told her.

"I feel weird." he then mumbled.

"...feel like I have to hurl..." he groaned, falling to his knees.

Cain looked at the vial, and was silent.

He then grabbed it with one of his hands, and started to bring it to his mouth.

However, his other hand grabbed his wrist and started to pull it back.

But he somehow managed to overpower it, and forced the solution down his throat, before throwing the vial to the floor.

"Damn it!" he cursed loudly.

The footsteps continued for a moment, before they slowed... and then just stopped.

It seemed like he had stopped whatever he was doing. For now.

Cain looked like he was about to lunge towards what Aedan had been working on, but was stopping himself.

Eventually, he forced himself to look away.

"...maybe I shouldn't be here..." he suggested to her.

Cain was silent as his mother said what she said, and then started to gather everything.

He looked around, before twitching slightly.

He tried his best to ignore the voices coming from half of his head as well.

Every so often, Aedan looked over towards him, and saw that he was having issues, but managing to keep it together.

...and that's when they heard footsteps. Azazel was on the move upstairs.

"I..." Cain stammered.

"..." he was then silent, and sighed.

"I can recognise when it's happening." he said.

"I think... the worst is that I'm going to be... slower." he told her.

"Like, a LOT slower to work." he reasoned.

"But I make no promises."
