She was waiting for about a minute, before a response was sent.

Yeah, sure. he sent.

Something tells me I might need a break, anyway. he then sent further.

Gimme about 5 minutes. Unless I need to be there ASAP. the next text added.

Unsurprisingly, Uriel was not around.

Odds were that he went back up to try and figure out what his readings (or lack thereof) meant.

Not that that was shocking or anything, she knew it would be a longshot to hope he was still around.

Just meant that she would need to call Zeke.

She did have a point with thinking he could use a bit of a break. He'd been spearheading the search for Lilim almost nonstop, and coupling that with him trying to keep up on his regular work was starting to take a toll on him.

If he wasn't careful, he'd stress himself to paralyzing levels of anxiety.

He raised an eyebrow.

"That is true." he said.

"What of it?" he asked.

"I'm a demon. I am the most vile of the vile. The one that everyone can rally against." he told him.

"Are you saying you honestly willingly want to just... converse with me?"

"........" Hal was silent, before sighing heavily.

"This... this is..." he mumbled, before just slamming his fist into the nearest wall.

"Damn it ALL!" he yelled.

Hazel's being taken to the med wing. If you can find someone to be with Erica, do so. And Hazel's going to be not herself. She's still suffering from what Eri did, and Erica's in no condition to fix her. he then texted.

"So much for lunch." he then said to himself, turning and marching back to his office.

"More shit to stress over." he snarled to the air.

The demon just rolled his eyes.

"Sure, kid." he said.

"Anyway, go back to sleep." he told him.

"I'll bring this body to the sleeping back next to you in a few minutes." he went on.

"Just wanted to be in control for a few hours. Drives me mad to just stay in the background." he muttered further.

"Ah, see, that's an issue." Hal told her.

"Angela is not in the medical wing." he said.

"Angela is with Erica, at Erica's house." he told her.

"At least, I assume so. I was not informed otherwise." he continued.

He then took out his cell phone and texted Angela.

Are you still with Erica? he sent to her.

Hal just sighed.

"...crap." he muttered.

"You weren't around when Erica fixed everything that Eri did..." he said.

"Oh my." he mumbled.

"...and Erica is NOT herself right now." he went on.

"Great." he grumbled.

"THIS is a mess..."

Hal just shook his head.

"Well, looks like they treated you well, there." he said.

"As I expected." he commented.

"I'm sorry." he apologised.

"I truly did not mean for that to happen this way, or to leave you there for so long." he admitted.

"But that was the best option... in terms of... that happening." he clarified.

"You being there for so long is... completely on me." he admitted.

Hal just shrugged.

"All right." he said.

"If you say so." he told her.

He then snapped his fingers, and Hazel appeared between the two of them.

"Now, for your questions." he commented.

"She's right here, and she's right here because you wished for me to bring her here."

He was silent for a moment.

First there was a look of confusion in his eyes.

Then a moment of realisation.

And then a moment of sheer horror, which turned to mere concern.

But his eyes had been wide the whole time, as though he were just remembering something VERY important.

"O...oh." he said.

"Oh... Oh my..." he mumbled.

"To answer your questions..." he then said further, trailing off a little.

"One: I do. Two: I do. Three: ...yes. I am... 95% sure that she is..." he told her, sounding more than a little sheepish now.

".......hm." he mumbled in response.

"I see." he said.

"Well, to be fair, when I said you were 'broken', I suppose that was out of turn." he muttered.

"But whatever." he shrugged.

"...also... your friend?" he asked.

"You really see me as such?" he asked further, more surprise in his tone than anything else.

As she walked, she saw the man in question walking down a perpendicular hallway.

And it looked like he was putting on a jacket.

Checking the time, she noticed that it was just past 1 in the afternoon, which meant that he was probably on his way to a late lunch.

And odds are he'd be gone for close to 45 minutes.

The man himself just sighed, and shook his head.

"So much going on." he mumbled.

"What else can possibly happen right now?" he wondered in an exasperated tone.

Uriel just sighed.

"That's the thing." he told her.

"I... it's weird, but I'm getting no hits." he said.

"See, I KNOW something is weird. My common sense tells me that, and my innate perception knows that something is off with that marking." he went on.

"But when I do a mana sweep or probe of her... I get nothing." he went on.

"Just... well... static, is the best way to put it."

Thank you for the update. Hal responded.

-Some time later-

Uriel sighed as he descended the staircase, and made his way to Angela.

"If nothing else, she's sleeping." he said.

"Fairly soundly." he told her.

"I did what I could, given what I could find, so she will at least be asleep for the next 7 hours." he reported.

He then sat down, and shook his head.

"Urgh." he grunted.
