Hal looked at her, and nodded.

"Hello." he greeted her.

"After a number of interviews, I am contacting everyone that has applied for this job." he told her.

"...and I'm sure you can guess where this is going, considering you have been asked in." he then added.

"Congratulations." he said.

"You've got the job." he told her, extending his hand.

"It's merely so the boss knows to expect you." Jake replied.

"And if you think you can make it on your own, just press one of the blue panels on the walls here." he then told her.

"It'll bring up a 3D map of the place, and you can ask for directions to where you're going." he went on.

"If you still get lost, press the red button next to the panel." he continued.

"Anyway..." he continued, buzzing her in.

"I'll let him know you're on your way."

"Of course." was the response.

"I'll let security know you're coming." they told her.

"Just have the guard notify Mister Sharp when you arrive." they finished.

Sure enough, she was there in about 30 minutes, and Jake looked at her.

"Ah, you're here." he said.

"Do you need an escort?" he asked her.

Jake just shrugged.

"Very possible." he said.

-A few days later-

It was at 10 in the morning that Brie received a call... from The Unit.

"Is this Gabrielle Burton?" the female on the other end asked.

"It is." Brie replied.

"Are you free to drop by The Unit today?" they asked.

"The sooner, the better."

Hal raised his hand.

"Not at all." he replied.

"I can certainly spare the time." he told her.

With that, the two of them made their way to the security landing, where Hal parted from her and disappeared back into the building.

Jake looked at her briefly.

"Not to get your hopes up..." he muttered.

"But the boss looks pleased. I'd say you aced the interview." he told her.

'...that is fascinating." Hal responded.

"And yes, that is true." he chuckled.

The interview continued, and Hal stood up at the end.

"Thank you for your time." he told her.

"I have several other interviews to conduct, but we will let you know by the end of the week if you have the position or not." he continued.

"Shall I escort you to the exit, Miss Burton?" he offered.

"That's fair." Hal replied.

"By the way..." he then said.

"You have a very interesting voice." he commented.

"There's a certain... something... to it." he went on.

"Does it perhaps relate to why you might be a good fit for this particular organisation?" he asked her.

"Well, you came highly recommended." Hal responded.

"So I see you're applying for the newly opening position of receptionist for R&D." he then commented.

"I could ask about your qualifications, but your resume speaks for itself." he went on.

"Let's talk about you." he said further.

"What are your personal goals for the future?" he asked.

Ryker just sighed heavily, and nodded with a smile.

"Heh." he chuckled.

"That's fair enough." he said.

"Under the stars works just fine." he told him.

"I'll get the sleeping bags out."

Azazel just rolled his eyes.

"Oh, for sure." he replied.

"I WILL make sure you get this job." he then told her, a small hint of seriousness to his tone, which... would have been odd for those that had really known him. He normally wasn't one to pull strings THAT far, or much such a certain statement.

"Anyway, I need to head off." he said.

"Later." he finished.

He then left, and Gabrielle sat and waited, until the secretary got her attention.

"Mister Sharp will see you now." she told her.

"Mmhmm." Azazel replied.

"Later, Jake!" he said to the guard.

"Yup." Jake responded, going back to his paper.

Azazel and Gabrielle proceeded to make their way through the hallways, making small talk along the way, before they reached the secretary's office which served as a waiting area for Hal's office.

"And here we are." Azazel said.

"Nervous?" he asked Gabrielle.

"Job market here's ok." Jake responded.

"Better that the surrounding area, anyway." he said.

"And this is a good place to live." he went on.

"Lotta nice places hidden away that are quiet and such." he told her.

"Just gotta look around until you find an area that suits you." he finished, as Azazel showed up.

"Heya." he greeted her.

The man just sighed and checked the I.D.

"Well, it's not expired." he said.

"So, good enough." he went on.

"Anyway, you're the one that Az scouted, yeah?" he asked.

She nodded in response.

"I'll get him to escort you to Agent Sharp, then." he told her, before calling Azazel to the security over the P.A. system.

"New to the city, huh?" he asked her, making small talk until the demon arrived.

The one behind the newspaper was silent and still for a moment, before she swore she heard a snake in the area. However, before she could say anything, the security guard placed the paper to the side, and grabbed a clipboard.

"...Burton... Burton..." he mumbled.

"Ah, here is it." he said.

He then looked right at her, almost staring into her eyes.

"I.D. please." he told her.

"Need to verify who you are."
