The door opened, and it was shut, as the man there sighed and shook his head.

"Ugh." he mumbled.

He then looked around, hearing the shower upstairs, and nodding.

"Guess she's showering." he told himself.

He then stepped further into the home, passing the den and looking inside... seeing Lunet there.

"...Lunet?" he asked.

"What are you doing?" he asked her, noticing how crap she looked.

"...are you all right?"

'....why?' Cain thought.

'Why does that phrasing sound so familiar...?' he asked himself.

"...well, while I may not know specifically what you're talking about, I know what it feels to be something akin to that." he told her.

"...but that's... something different... entirely... I guess..." he then mumbled.

"Whatever." he said.

He then just held her, and didn't let go.

"I'll try and do whatever I can to... potentially help."

Hearing Eke make a joke like that caused Ryker to smile even more.

It was good to see him so happy and light-hearted again. It put his soul at ease.

"Ooooh." he said.

"Yes, let's hope so." he said further.

"Also, seems you're planning a right proper dessert. All fancy and made from scratch." he commented.

"Pulling out ALL the stops!"

"All right." Cain responded.

"It's all right." he said.

"If you can't get back to sleep, want to go downstairs?" he suggested.

"Sit on the couch or something?" he went on.

"Would that help?" he asked her.

"...would anything help?"

"......." Cain was silent, but held her close.

"It's all right." he assured her quietly.

"You're home. You're safe. I promise." he said.

"Nothing can hurt you here." he went on.

"You were just having a nightmare. That's all." he continued.

"I'm here for you."

"Woah, woah, woah, Lunet!" Cain exclaimed.

"Easy, there! It's me, Cain!" he told her.

"You're home! You're in your room! You were in your bed! You're safe!" he continued.

"Lunet, please." he went on.

"Please, calm down. It was just a nightmare." he went on.

"You're safe, I promise."

"......." Cain was silent, before getting closer and gently placing his hands on her shoulders.

"Hey! Lunet!" he exclaimed.

"Wake up!" he told her, as he gently jostled her.

"You're having a nightmare! Wake up!" he continued.

"Lunet! Come on! It's Cain! Wake up!" he added.

He'd never seen Lunet like this before... normally she had no troubles sleeping.

Was what had happened earlier worse than he'd thought?

Cain just nodded in response.

"Of course." he replied.

By the time he'd gotten her to her room, she was all but conked out, so he laid her down in her bed and made sure she was comfortable, before leaving the room and making his way down to the den.

He planned to watch TV to pass the time.

Only a couple of hours had passed, and he was getting himself a drink, when he heard a terrified and blood-curdling shriek from Lunet's room.

Immediately, he dropped what he was doing, and raced up to her room.

"Lunet!?" he exclaimed, almost busting down the door.

Cain just nodded in response.

"Of course." he replied.

"I can stay here." he told her.

He then paused for a moment, as her words sunk in.

"...hm." he mumbled.

'Guess she wants to just be alone for the moment.' he thought.

"You want me to come check up on you art any point?" he asked her.

".....all right." Cain responded.

"Sure." he said.

He then lifted her up in his arms, and started to carry her up to her bed.

"....I'm gonna stick around here." he told her.

"Make sure you don't get any worse or whatever." he reasoned.

"That all right?" he asked.

"If you'd rather I wasn't here, I can go." he said, though he really didn't want to leave.

Cain shook his head.

"No." he replied.

"He's not." he told her.

"He's been spending a lot of time at the Unit. Apparently it's been hella hectic there." he went on.

"Do you want me to call him?" he asked her.

"See if he can come here?"

"......" Cain was silent, before sighing.

"Right." he said.

"Look, let's... let's just get you somewhere safe." he said.

"Let's... get you back home." he suggested.

"You'll be safe there and you can relax." he went on.

Plus, it gave him an excuse to be away from his mother, who didn't even know him right now.

Cain paused for a moment.

"Uh... what?" he asked.

"Homecoming, what?" he asked her.

"Lunet, are you all right?' he then asked her.

"Homecoming was... oh geez..." he mumbled, thinking about it.

"Years ago." he told her.

"Seriously. Just relax and gather yourself." he added.

"......" the figure was silent as he took in what was happening... but it all just clicked.

"LUNET!" he yelled.

He then ran towards her, extending his arm and helping her to her feet.

"Lunet, are you all right!?" he exclaimed.

"What happened?" he asked her.

He then looked at the pit that she had crawled out of.

'And... and what the hell IS this...?' he thought.

'What... what IS this thing...?'
