"Ry-guy can't because he's human." he told him.

"You're a dragon. And a dragon, when he is at peace with nature, can hear it communicating with him." he said further.

"And no, I can't hear it either." he then confirmed.

"I just know what you're talking about." he went on.

"Dragons in the past have told me about it."

Darrell followed, and Ash just smirked when Sammy said what she did.

"Heh, no worries." he told her.

"Made up a sub for you as well." he told Darrell.

"Montreal Smoked Meat, as you like." he added.

"Oh, thank you!" Darrell said in response.

"If you want, take 'em up to the roof or whatever for a picnic." Ash then suggested. "There's some bottles of pop and juice and stuff in the fridge if you want drinks." he continued.

"And yes, I made your sub extra stuffed." he then said to Sammy.

Darrell just shrugged.

"Sure thing." he replied.

"What do you think you want to e-" he started to ask, before they heard Ash call out.

"HEY! SAM!" he yelled to Sammy.

"Come on inside!" he told her.

"I made up a turkey sub for you to eat, seeing as you just regen'd!" he added with a light laugh.

Darrell thought for a moment as well.

"Hmmm." he mumbled.

"Where? Got a restaurant you like?" he asked.

"When? Anytime. Your schedule is mine at the moment, heh." he chuckled.

"How? I have some spare cash." he then told her.

"I can afford dinner for the two of us." he reasoned.

"Or is there something else you'd rather do, in particular?" he then asked her.

"Eesh." Darrell replied.

"That's rough." he said.

"Something tells me it coulda been WAY worse, though..." he then mumbled.

"But... anyway..." he then said further.

"Given what's... what's transpired here..." he continued, clearly awkward at the moment.

"Where do we go from here?" he asked.

"Wanna... go on a date?" he asked her.

Her initial blunt and candid statement caused his face to go redder than before, but he soon realised all that she had said.

"I... I see." he said.

"I... well..." he stammered.

"I really feel the same way about you." he told her.

"And I think it started with your determination to win that race." he continued.

"...." he was then silent, thinking for a moment.

"By the way, I never heard anything about how your mother reacted to all that." he then said.

"Was she cool with it, or... well... not?" he asked.

"Yeah." Darrell replied.

"Yeah, I would imagine so." he said.

"I mean, you took that fall and-" he started to say further, before he suddenly paused, something she said having finally registered.

"Ah... ah, wait..." he muttered.

"Back up..." he said further.

"You'd... you'd hate to not be in MY life, as well?" he asked.

"Are... are you saying... what... I think you are...?" he asked further, his blush returning now.

"Uh..." Darrell stammered.

"Eh... heh..." he chuckled sheepishly.

"I... well... partly because I witnessed it, yeah..." he said.

"And... well, I thought that, since I was there, and couldn't or didn't do anything about it, I would be faulted by everyone here, as well." he continued. "Though that was a minor thing, to be honest." he continued.

"But... I... well... I was... confronted by the situation of... you not... being in my life any longer." he admitted.

"And that... that scared me."

Ash picked up the Avian, and started to carry it back to the house.

"Have fun, you two!" he called.

When both he and Kelly were in the house, Darrell was left alone.

With a blushing face.

"I... ah.... I..." he stammered.

"I mean... well... I kinda... sorta... forgot who your father is, and... what you inherited from him." he told her.

"And... and I was worried." he continued.

"Well... more... horrified and saddened..." he then clarified, still tripping over himself, and very clearly, at that.

"Eh?" Ryker muttered.

"No..." he said.

"Hear what?" he asked him

He was then silent for a moment, before sighing.

"Disappearing for a moment." he told him.

"...you can hear it now, can you?" the demon inquired.

"You take after your father that way." Ash commented.

"Anyway, welcome back." he told her.

He then smiled a little, and looked over towards Darrell.

"Should be fine now." he told him.

Darrell looked over towards Sammy, and heaved a sigh of relief.

"Good." he said.

"Glad that you're okay. Now, anyway." he told her.

Just as Eke started to calm down, he noticed some things in the water.

Small things.

And a lot of them.

When he looked closer, he saw they were tiny fish. And they were swimming around him, and ignoring him. As though he were just... there.

"Lots of the little guys." Ryker commented.

"Guess this water's pretty clean." he reasoned.

Darrell was silent as Kelly said that, and started to scoot away from Samantha.

As he did so, Ash went over to the avian and dragged it away from Samantha as well.

"Right." he said.

"Yeah, this thing should be fine." he mumbled.

"And Samantha will be fine in a few seconds." he went on.

"Might wanna shield your eyes." he suggested to Darrell, who promptly did so.

Ash looked at the avian, and thought for a moment.

"Oh, that's a juvenile saw-tooth skyshark." he told them.

"Sky...shark? That sounds... dangerous." Darrell commented.

"Naw. They're mostly scavengers." Ash clarified.

"Odds are it was attacked by a Diving Drillbeak." he went on.

"I think it can be fixed up and rehabilitated." he then commented further.

"Looks like the biggest injury is a wonky wing."
