Ash watched her go, before looking at Evan.

"...glad she's back?" he asked.

"Yep." Evan replied.

"......wait, where's Kitt?" Ash then inquired.

"Oh, I think she went into the room to be with Sammy." Evan responded.

"Sort of be there for her when she wakes up."

Ash just sighed.

"Got it." he replied.

It was at that point, Evan walked into the room.

"Sammy all right?" he asked.

"Think so, yeah." Evan replied.

"Good." Ash said.

"Where's Darrell?" he then asked.

"Still cleaning up bloody footprints." was the response Evan gave.

"Out in the yard." Ash replied.

"And it's sealed in a container." he told her.

"Like one of those larger storage tubs." he said further.

"But yeah, those dragonlings will probably benefit from gnawing on what's left." he reasoned.

"And the adults will appreciate it, too." he reasoned further.

"Should try and get that done ASAP, as well."

Ash thought for a moment.

"Hmmm." he mumbled.

"That could work." he said.

"Yeah, a volcano would work." he told her.

"Unless you feel like being nice to some dragons." he went on.

"If I recall, we should be in a time frame where babies are growing, and dragons love to feed their children River Wolf carcasses to try and boost their immunity to their venom." he mused further.

"Oh, yes." Ash replied.

"But I'm on a VERY strict clock right now." he told her, making his way to the kitchen counter.

"I need to prep this ASAP, and make sure it gets into the freezer quickly." he went on.

"It's going to deteriorate after 20 minutes, if I don't." he continued.

"And I managed to salvage all I could from it." he said further.

"The rest I made sure to... well... I've sealed it away in another container. We'll need to dump it somewhere safe." he finished, starting to cut into it and make segments of meat.

"With this amount, I can make enough to give to you." Rene replied.

"Many thanks once again." he told her.

"And with that, I must be off." he then said further.

"Do let me know if something comes up that needs my attention, complications or otherwise." he finished.

With that, they said goodbye, and he was gone.

However, he hadn't been gone for 5 seconds, before Ash appeared in the kitchen again, a large container filled with flesh.

"....jackpot." he told Ashleigh, a stupid grin on his face.

Rene looked at the sachel, before accepted it.

"Hm?" he mumbled, opening it.

He then took a look, and his eyes widened.

"OOOOH!" he exclaimed.

"You salvaged some of the teeth, I see." he went on.

"Daaaaamn. These will most CERTAINLY help." he commented further.

"Thank you! These are almost as valuable as their meat." he went on.

"Hmmm." he mumbled.

"These are used to make a very potent healing salve for injuries." he commented. "Want some when I make up a batch?" he asked her.

Rene smiled a little.

"Hey, no worries." he told her.

"Anyway, I should head back downstairs." he then said.

"Ashleigh's told me she wants to talk to me." he finished.

He then stepped out from the room, making his way downstairs. As he did so, he texted Ashleigh.

Headed downstairs. Come find me when you want to talk to me. he sent.

Lindsay nodded in response.

"Yeah, I am." he said.

"Just... just to make sure." he said further, as Rene bandaged up what he could, and made sure Samantha was stable.

"All right." the lantha said.

"Looks like... that's all I can do." he told them.

"The rest is up to her and her phoenix genes." he finished, standing up again.

Lindsay nodded in response and laid Sammy down in her bed properly, making sure she was covered and comfortable.

"THAT, I cannot answer." Rene admitted.

"I only know so much about them." he muttered.

"You're better off asking Ash or Ashleigh." he told her further.

"We should." Lindsay said to Casey.

"But Samantha will be fine?" he asked.

"Yup." Rene confirmed.

Rene just sighed.

"She was attacked by a River Wolf." he said.

"...I've heard that term before..." Lindsay said, thinking about it.

"They're a fire mage and/or flame creature's worst nightmare." Rene went on.

"They're invasive, super-aggressive, semi-aquatic, are faster in the rain due to water slicking off their back and not waterlogging them, and they prey on flames and fire." he explained further.

"To the point where their saliva is a literal toxin to fire mages and flame creatures." he then said.

"In this case, it's actively negating Samantha's regenerative powers, and poisoning her as well." he continued.

"Essentially, they're a phoenix's only natural predator."

"....." Rene was silent, before sighing.

"Don't worry." he said.

"I know what to do here." he told her.

He then got closer to Samantha and Lindsay, before taking a couple of glass bottles out of his case. He then took one syringe and filled it half full with one of the liquids, and used the other to fill it completely.

The red and blue liquids mixed into a purplish colour as Rene tapped the syringe to remove any bubbles, and then looked at Samantha.

"All right kid." he muttered.

"This should give you the jumpstart you need. Work with it and counter that damn toxin." he said further, injecting the mixture into Sammy's arm.

"Got it!" Rene called back.

He then started to follow the bloody footprints, before stopping at Darrell, who was still cleaning.

"...oh yeah, forgot you were staying here for a while." he said.

"Hell of a first night, huh?" he asked.

"That's one way to put it." Darrell replied.

"Excuse me, please." Rene then said further, making his way past Darrell and following the prints to one of the bathrooms.

He knocked on the door and sighed.

"Samantha, it's Rene!" he called in.

"I'm here to help!"

Rene just chuckled.

"Heh. Figured." he said.

"But I knew it wouldn't hurt to ask." he reasoned.

"Anyway, you're good now, Luke." he told the draydin.

"Thanks." Luke replied.

"No prob. Just doin' my job." Rene responded.

"Anyway, I'm going to check on Samantha." he then told Ashleigh.

"Make sure these two are someplace where they can rest and take it easy."
