"We can't make assumptions just yet." Darrel replied.

"Well... we CAN, but we shouldn't." he then corrected himself.

"There is a very good chance that book is involved, but there's also a chance this is just coincidental." he told her.

"For now, let's not jump to any unfounded conclusions." he suggested.

"See what we can dig up about what's happening, or the book."

".....great." Darrel muttered.

"You're going blind, Luke's gone numb, Lily's probably on the verge of losing her shit..." he growled, trailing off a little.

"And -I- can't smell a damn thing." he said.

"And I mean that literally, Sammy." he told her.

"I can't smell ANYTHING. At all. Not a thing." he explained.

"And my vampire side is freaking out because of it."

"All right." Darrel replied.

With that, they ended their conversation, and about 3 minutes later, Darrel was there, and sat down beside her.

"Hey." he greeted her.

"Here I am, obviously." he commented.

"But you said Kelly's with Luke?" he asked her.

"Is something wrong with HIM?" he asked further, clearly not having heard.

Again, Darrel was silent for a moment.

"Ah... right." he said.

"Yeah.... gimme a moment." he told her.

"I'll be there in a few minutes." he said.

"I also have... well, one or two questions." he went on. "But they can wait until we're face-to-face." he reasoned.

"Where will you be?" he asked her.

".....no...." Darrel said quietly.

"No, that... no, this... this can't be..." he said.

"That's not fair." he went on.

"Just out of nowhere like this? This makes no sense!" he exclaimed.

"There HAS to be SOMETHING that can be done!"

"....blind!?" Darrel exclaimed.

"Wait, blind!?" he repeated.

"Oh god, how? When?" he asked her, before pausing.

"Wait." he said.

"Does this have to do with that weird eye infection you had a few days ago?" he asked further.

"....not right?" Darrel asked.

"What do you mean?" he asked her.

"What's going on?" he inquired.

She could tell that he was very concerned... but there was an underlying panic to it.

Thankfully she knew her way through the house, so she was able to make it... for the most part.

She bumped into a few things, stubbed her toe once or twice, but that was it.

Still didn't change that everything was blurry and dark.

And it was more worrisome when stepping into direct sunlight didn't help.

Nothing changed.

Darrel just smiled softly as Sammy laughed.

"Sure thing." he said.

"Come on." he told her.

"If you're hungry, we can get food as well." he went on.

"Anything." he said.

"It's on me." he assured her further.

"I'll do whatever I can to help ease this in any way I can."
Posted in An Assault on the Senses Posted 6 years ago
"....yeah." Darrel muttered.

"I know what you mean." he said.

"They say no news is good news, but it's also infuriating and worrying." he went on.

"...Sammy, I wish there was something I could do." he then lamented.

"But all I can do is stand by and wait." he sighed.

"Do you want anything to drink, at least?" he then asked her.
Posted in An Assault on the Senses Posted 6 years ago
Darrel just shrugged.

"I dunno either." he said.

"I just know it's annoying." he told her.

"I, like, never get sick." he went on.

"So it's also very odd..." he mumbled.

"Anyway, any progress on Evan?" he then asked her.

"Or... at the very least, has he not gotten worse?" he asked further.
Posted in An Assault on the Senses Posted 6 years ago
Darrel was silent for a moment, and paused.

"Well... yeah." he said.

"I can." he told her.

"There's no blockages or anything." he went on. "Just... I'm having some issue smelling things, as though my nose were blocked." he told her further.

"I can still smell. Just... not as well."

Luke watched her go, and sighed.

"....besides, I know you hate to see me worried." he said quietly.

Meanwhile, Darrel seemed to be rubbing his nose a little more.

"They couldn't find what was wrong with me." he told Sammy.

"But it's getting worse." he went on.

"Feels like it's clogged up, but at the same time, not."

Luke looked at Lily, and sighed.

"You don't have to." he said.

"Just tell Kelly." he told her.

"She deserves to know." he reasoned.

"In case she comes looking for me and all."
