Several of the people in the meeting were looking confused, some were looking offended and irritated, but others were looking just as concerned as Vicki had looked. It seemed that not everyone had felt it, but some of them had.

As Vicki swiftly made her way down the hallway, she almost ran into someone that had been taken in for questioning. Literally. They had rounded a corner, and were about to race down the hall, when they saw that Vicki was there, blocking the way.

In a panic, they aimed some fire mana at her, before a small stream of sand was blasted into their right eye, causing them to shake and sputter for a moment... and then collapse, asleep.

Sure enough, a few seconds later, Vito rushed up.

"Sorry." he said.

"The guy managed to get away from security, so I was called in to take him down." he told her, hefting the mage up.

"....I'll move." he then mumbled.

"Something tells me that that wave of strange mana I felt is why you look so hurried and concerned." he added, stepping out of the way.

His smile widened when he pushed past some old dusty and rotted pieces of wood, and he saw a tome partially buried under crumbled stone and brick. An old tome, to understate it. The way it was bound, the material used, the layers of dust on and around it... this was something that made his heart stir, his mind race, and his imagination run while.

He was Evan Fyrane. Son of Lindsay Fyrane and Casey Kiczys. He was born with his mother's necromantic powers, and her feline features had shown up later in his life.

But he had inherited just more than her physical feline features... he inherited the natural curiosity of a feline. As such, when he learned that an old building that had formerly been a mage library had been quarantined was set to be demolished, he HAD to search it. He HAD to see if he could find any books that they might have missed when they relocated the library so long ago.

That was what he'd inherited from his father. His love of reading and discovery.

He'd been searching for close to 3 hours, when he finally hit paydirt. He wanted to see what was in this book. He needed to see what had been lost for centuries. Millenia. He dug the book out from it's makeshift 'grave', and made his way outside the building. Once he looked around and saw nobody was around, he used his mana to teleport to the apartment that he and his sister were renting out. It wasn't anything special, nor was it anything they spent a lot of time in, but it was somewhere they could go when they needed to be alone. Once he was in the living room, he looked at the book one more time, before sitting down cross-legged in the living room area of the place. He sat the book down in front of him, and then thought for a moment, looking around.

He placed 4 crystals around him, charged with mana, and activated them, forming a barrier around himself and the book. He then laid down several rune circles, putting layer after layer of barriers around, before taking a deep breath.

"All right." he said to himself, his ears twitching and his tail swishing.

"...let's see what's inside." he said, reaching for the book and slowly opening it.

Ash was silent again, before drinking the water in one gulp.

"Sure." he said.

And with that, the world mended itself, and it was as though the Bringers had never been there.

At least, for a while. It would be centuries, but they would return again.

"....I see." Ash responded.

"In the end, doesn't really change my statement." he told her.

"I was a fool and an idiot." he said.

"And I ultimately ended up paying the price for it." he went on.

"Which, apparently, was temporary."

Ash just sat down in the closest chair, after having grabbed a bottle of water.

"I died." he told her.

"I died a fool's death." he said.

"Yet for whatever reason, here I am again."
Posted in Bringing Ragnarok Posted 6 years ago
Again, Ash was silent.

"Uh... right." he said.

"And Vicki and Alice?" he asked.

"I.... well, I trust you're right." he said.

"I have no idea where they are or anything."

Ash was silent as he made his way upstairs, before groaning to himself.

"I'm an idiot." he said.

"Still just an idiot." he growled, before pausing.

"Wait." he said.

"Am I... alive or dead...?' he muttered, looking around and wondering if his surroundings were real, a heavenly construct, or something else entirely.

Vincent just sighed.

"You're welcome." he told her.

"Now I must go." he said.

"I have a few other things to do to help this world start to heal."
Posted in Bringing Ragnarok Posted 6 years ago
"No need to thank me." Vincent responded.

"I'm just doing what is right." he told her.

"Vito should be healed as well." he then said.

"My apologies for this... harrowing... experience."
Posted in Bringing Ragnarok Posted 6 years ago
"Long story." Vincent replied.

"Truncated, you were attacked by the Bringer known as 'Misery'." he told her.

"Events have allowed myself to step in and intervene." he went on.

"So I did."

"No need to thank me." Vincent responded.

"All right, I have someone else to visit now." he told them, before leaving, as Luke sat up, his eyes as vibrant as they had been before the attack.

After some faded and foggy consciousness, Adrian finally seemed to regain her senses, and when she looked around, she saw Vito sleeping peacefully in the bed beside hers, with Vincent stepping away from him.

"And done." he said, looking at Adrian.

"Feeling better?" he asked her.

Vincent just made his way over, and placed a hand under Luke, palm up, so it was on his back. Once he did so, the disease started to rapidly recede, and Luke's colour started to return.

"She was teetering on the border of what was allowed." he told Kelly.

"In light of recent events, I've decided it is NOT allowed." he said further.

"As such, I'm reversing it."
Posted in Bringing Ragnarok Posted 6 years ago
"I will tend to Luke and Adrian." Vincent said.

"Let's move quickly." he told her.

In Luke's room, Kelly had gone to see him, and his condition was worsening considerably suddenly.

"Kelly..." he said weakly.

"I think... this might be it." he told her.

"No. No, it's not." Vincent said, stepping into the room.

Levi was silent, and walked through the portal.

Jack was silent as well, before slowly following, looking displeased and somewhat guilty.

Once they were all through, the portal was closed.

"Now." Vincent said.

"Where do you suggest we go from here?" he asked her.
