"Hm." he muttered.
"Well, he won't listen to ME." he told her.
"And he'll probably end up ignoring Stephanie." he went on.
"If anyone can get through to him, it's YOU." he told her further.
".......as much as I hate to say it." he then mumbled.

He narrowed his eyes when she said all that.
"Are you satisfied with that?" he asked.
"Or do you want to get him away from that girl?" he asked further.
"Because we just got here." he said.
"There's still so much we can do."

The larger male raised an eyebrow.
"Eh?" he muttered
"Focusing on a girl?" he asked.
"Odd..." he said.
"Normally he'd kill someone and move on." he told her.
"........unless... the phoenix?" he then asked.

"Mm." Evan muttered.
"True." he said.
---
The large man sighed, as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"Well... partially." he replied to the woman.
"Seems the globe's pretty stable, overall." he told her. "I've started some border skirmishes and such, but things have let to go TOO far." he went on.
"I may have to take a more active role, as opposed to just letting my passive presence do all the work." he went on.
"But... wars are something that are gradually built up to, remember." he then said.
"One little chip after another to bring the facade of civilization."
"True." he said.

"..............." Evan was silent as she said what she did.
"I..." he stammered.
"I am, too." he said.
"We... we have to stop this." he told her.
"Somehow." he mumbled.
"...you think I can really be of help, though?" he then asked.

"................oh." Darrel said.
"...never mind." he mumbled.
"I guess... I'll just... go." he told her.
"There's no real point to my being here." he reasoned.
"Thanks for the... er... well, 'key'." he then added.

Darrel nodded in response.
"All right." he replied.
"I... yeah, I'll do that." he said further.
He was then silent, before shaking his head.
"I wish I could help with Adrian and Luke." he muttered.
"Maybe Lily has some Draydin remedies?"
"All right." he replied.

Darrel was silent for a moment, blinking a couple of times, before sighing.
"Right." he said.
"That does answer one of my questions, as well as one I didn't really consider." he went on.
"But I still do have one question." he went on.
"Can I get access to your books?" he asked.
"Evan, Kelly and I are going to try and pour through as many texts as we can to find an answer and a solution to all this." he explained.
"Right." he said.

"So do I." Evan replied.
"I care about my life, your life, Sammy's life, everyone's." he told her.
Meanwhile, Darrel had to fight the urge to do otherwise, but he made his way to OLA... mostly due to his self-imposed promise of checking up on Luke.
He made his way to Alice's office, but found she wasn't there.
"......." he was silent, before sitting down in one of the chairs.
"She doesn't need me looking around for her and bothering her." he reasoned. "So I will wait here for when she inevitably returns."

Evan's eyes widened when he heard that.
"Oh sweet heavens..." he said.
"That's... that's just... oh, wow..." he mumbled.
"I... I can't even... oh, geez." he muttered further.
"This really IS the end of the world." he realized.
"Are... we doomed, Kelly?"

"....I see." Evan replied.
"Well. all right." he said.
"I hope I can help." he told her.
"I hope we can help Sammy..." he went on.
"And... Death isn't the only one here?" he asked her, before pausing.
"Wait... wait, are all FOUR on the surface!?" he then exclaimed.

"....." Evan was silent for a moment.
"Ah... right." he said.
He then grabbed his shoulder bag, stuffed the tome into it, and rushed over towards her.
"Reading?" he then asked.
"What reading?" he asked her.
"Can I be filled in on this?"
"Ah... right." he said.

Evan panicked for a moment, before scrambling to hide various things... the tome she mentioned, especially. However, he soon realized it was pointless.
She'd seen it.
So he then sighed, and shook his head slightly.
"It... well... it's not... it's not TOTALLY illegal." he told her.
"I found it through some... er... well... connections." he said. "And I have this under the clause of preserving history!" he went on.
"......." he was then silent, his eyes shifting from left to right.
"Besides, it's legality continues to bounce back and forth, so... I mean, it's so fluid that it doesn't matter?" he finished, forcing a smile.

Darrel just nodded slowly.
"All right." he replied.
"Let's head out ASAP." he told her. "We can't waste any time." he reasoned.
Evan, meanwhile, was looking over some VERY specific texts. Texts that nobody knew he had. Texts that bordered on forbidden, but weren't. Yet.
"I WILL find a way to stop that bastard." he muttered to himself.
"I WILL save Samantha." he went on.
"And I will do whatever it takes." he finished ominously.
