Lindsay was silent for a moment.

And then it clicked.

It wasn't hard for him to figure out what she was getting at.

And she could tell he was angry. For a brief moment, she swore she could feel a rune emanating from within him... but there wasn't. He couldn't do that.

However, the sheer anger he was feeling right now made it seem like he could produce one.

"....Alice..." he said, his tone quiet and ominous.

"Are you saying that Death has my little girl... and is potentially torturing her and killing her over and over?" he asked her.

The response was quick. And it wasn't in the form of a text or call.

About a minute later, she heard knocking at her door, and Lindsay let himself in.

"We've come to the same conclusion." he said.

"Armageddon. Ragnarok. It's the End." he went on.

"I assume that is what your text meant." he then added, before pausing.

"What made YOU come to this conclusion?" he asked her.

"Well, she told me she was stressed and going for a run/jog." Darrel responded.

"That was 5 hours ago." he told her.

This was, indeed, concerning, as Sammy's stress jogs only took about 2 hours at most.

"And she's not answering her phone at all. In fact, whenever I try to call, I get an automated message saying that her phone is unavailable to reach." he went on.

"So I'm starting to get a little worried."

It seemed like there had been a collective sigh of relief from the entire hospital.

However, when she made her way back to her office to rest, she was interrupted by a phone call from Darrell.

"Hey Alice." he said when she answered.

"Question." he went on.

"Is Samantha there?" he asked her. "She... she's been gone for a bit now."

"How quaint." Jack responded.

He then extended his palm, and her surroundings changed slightly. They still looked the same, but it was in a more greyish tone, and everything seemed to wiggle and move like it was underwater.

"A little pocket dimension." he told her.

"Where the only God you will know is ME." he said.

"Hmmmm." he then mumbled, looking her over.

"Quick, or slow...?" he asked himself.

"And I wonder how that damned phoenix would react to knowing his little offspring is trapped in an endless cycle of death..." he wondered further.

"Heh... heh, heh, heh..." Jack chuckled.

"See... what you give me is a rare opportunity." he told her.

"I can think of SO many ways to kill a person." he said. "But there's so little people." he continued.

"But YOU... YOU, I can kill over and over again." he went on.

"I can see what different things do. How they kill. How much pain can be caused before you actually DO die..." he continued, sounding more and more... disconcertingly excited.

"You are a perfect plaything."

"........" the cloaked figure was silent for a moment.

"Are you that dumb?" he asked.

"Or do you not listen?" he asked her.

"I just DID tell you WHAT... and WHO... I am." he told her.

He then plunged his hand through her chest.

"I. Am. Death." he said, before she collapsed yet again.

There was silence for a moment, before the grip on her heart tightened.

And she then saw the air in front of her swirl and shift, before someone in a cloak formed.

"You do not know your place." they said.

"No-one is above me." they told her.

"All succumb to me." they said further.

"All die."

"You can't run from me." she heard as she ran.

"No matter how much you try to stave me off, you can't avoid me." it said.

"It's pathetic." it went on.

"But you want to know who I am?" it then asked.

"Very well." it said.

She then suddenly stopped, and she felt like someone was holding onto her very heart. And she felt extremely fragile and frail at that moment.

"Tell me... how do you feel?" the voice asked her.
Posted in Bringing Ragnarok Posted 6 years ago
"WHO am I?" she heard.

"I suppose that is correct." the voice said. "Though, also, WHAT am I works as well." it went on. "Or who WAS I?" it continued.

"A riddle wrapped in an enigma, one could say." it continued.

"Oh, and those you usually know?" it then asked. "Seems the reapers here are soft. Shouldn't be surprised." it spat.

"And I'm willing to bet you're the spawn of the phoenix." it then added.

She received silence at first.

However, she felt a cold presence near her... as though right up beside her.

"...it's me." a voice whispered in her ear.

"Your frail, frail mortality." it said further.

Then, before she could answer, she felt the death in her neck this time, which caused her to collapse to the ground, again... and then get up. Again.

As she looked around, she saw that nothing was there.

Nobody was around.

She was alone. Or at least, it seemed to be.

"........" the figure was silent, as he watched Sammy get to her feet.

"...intriguing." he said.

"I must admit, that is a new one." he commented.

"Spawn of the phoenix, perhaps...?" he then wondered further, as Sammy seemed to feel a cold piercing gaze on her now.

Vito was about to argue, but his intelligence took over for a moment, and he sat down.

"Right." he said.

"........" he was then silent, and looked at Adrian.

'Please don't go.' he thought.

'Don't leave... me.'

Vito was silent as she said what she said, and did what she did.

"Alice, I'm f-" he started to say, before sighing.

"Okay, I'm NOT fine." he then muttered.

"But Adrian's in worse condition." he went on, describing the scene in the bathroom that he had happened upon.

"I think I remember her saying that her parents would give her a mixture of ginger root powder, beast berry extract, and gum root water whenever she was sick to her stomach like this." he told her.

"Well... maybe not THIS bad, but still." he muttered.

The mixture he mentioned was more a folk remedy for the lanthan race, but it was based in fact and medicine, and it had worked wonders for Adrian in the past.
